>>64771105The only thing I would like custom is to make the compensator in the style that I would like, which is those big blocky ones that also connect to the lower part of the frame.I figure if the FNX-45 can be Rowlandized than anything with a steel upper frame should handle it about as good, even if the grip is aluminum instead of steel, but on the FNX-45 I'm pretty sure it's polymer, so aluminum *should* hold fine, right?

Alright, Lube. I soaked this moldy cunt in 10% bleach for 60 minutes. The previous oiling with Ballistol may have prevented proper penetration, but I got what I got. Here it is cleaned and reoiled. Sorry I didn't have the presence of mind to take a before picture, but trust me, it was white and crusty.I encourage you to perfect your current pursuits, but just know, there is a definite market gap for a simple antimicrobial leather treatment. I'll be quite happy with a 2% royalty on whatever you come up with. That or free samples, whatever is best for you.Rock on.https://youtu.be/eVxt7zM1BrU?

In todays conflict is it more important to have camo or be able to lower your heat signature?
>>64769916If you knew just a tad bit of physics you'd know that the infrared is temporarily being blocked by the water in the mud and once it inevitably warms up to your body temperature, it too will emit infrared radiation. It's good for a temporary camo tho

Kosovo just flight-tested its first strike drone, “Skifteri K1” ( “Vulture”).Claims millimeter-level accuracy on target.Specs (allegedly):– Endurance: 7h 12min– Range: 1,124 km– Payload: 42 kg
>>64771572Albanian anon here, i wanted to post the source here as well but 4chan isn't letting me for some reason. Aslo i don't believe their claims 100% but i think the drone should have somewhere around 900km range from what a friend told me
>>64771572>Claims millimeter-level accuracy on targetExaggerated but given modern GPS chips and COTS controllers PGMs are not that difficult anymore. The real question is how good their IMU and Kalman filter tuning are when this thing has to function in a GPS denied, or worse, spoofed, environment

>modern military>look inside>just a bunch of brigadesbtw if it's not called a brigade, it's a mental illness
>>64771547Regimental combat teams are more kino than Brigade combat teams
>>64771619Mental illness
>>64771547Basically, yes. If you do a little history reading about the actual numbers involved in the specific units when debating the brigade/division divide, you'll find it's basically a semantic larp. When real combat happens, the natural size for an all-arms unit seems to gravitate to about 6000. Brigades get expanded and divisions get chopped up to match that.

I want a Makarov or Makarov adjacent pistol for EDC. I like the metal frame and the DA/SA design on a smaller sized gun. Because of the double action I would feel fine carrying it in my pocket without a holster if need be, provided it's small enough. My questions are whether 9x18 is enough for defense, which pistol I should get (PM, P-64, CZ-82, PA-63), reliability, viability of +P ammo?
>>64771442you're a nigger
>>64771446Why the fuck would you ever want to carry an old shitty Makarov over an LCP or CSX if you could at all help it?
>>64764663If you look at FBI self-defense shooting statistics, 9x18 Makarov isn't even on that list. There are very good reasons for this, but its absence alone should be enough to reconsider.
>>64771551He already mentioned he's a history nerd/dork. Just let him be when it comes to wanting something old.
>>64764663The gun you like and carry every day is better than the one that stays home.Do it.
The sharpest thread on /k/.Underrated Knives Edition
>>64770785OK I think I figured it out. Disassembled it and was playing with the parts in isolation. Back of knife and locking piece move smooth as butter with pressure. I walked it up to reassembling half the knife with the blade and locking piece installed and felt friction again. I think the central pin holding the blade is rough enough on the outside that it is what is causing the roughness as it rotates. Since it is flat facing outwards it is locked into place but there are enough small rough spots on it that is probably the thing making opening have some crunch. Need to clean all the screws and re oil them before re-assembly and get all the lint out as well but going to try polishing the pivot pin up and a few drops of LSA since I think a more viscous oil will be beneficial.
>>64770945Welp, you just saved me a ton of typing. The pivot is the "weak" point that provides the most friction when opening / closing. The stop pin just stops it from opening too far, it doesn't lock the blade, that's the wedge that does the heavy lifting, but there's not much to be done regarding changing the wedge unless you polish the underneath. You can swap the spring out for something softer or stiffer, depending on what you're looking to do, but good luck finding the right sizes. It's not a custom, just one of the aluminum handles so don't be afraid to have some fun.Stock oil from the assembly line is either Lucas or 50/50 Lucas and RemOil. I switched from straight Lucas to 50/50 myself, but I haven't done the polishing you have. Assuming you're not in cold weather, the 50/50 mix will be a good starting point, and then adjust from there. Don't need a ton, just a drop or two.Every screw but the main pivot uses red loctite, main is blue. From the assembly line, we're instructed to tighten the main pivot and then loosen until the blade freely drops down when the wedge isn't engaged. Be careful with the pivot as it's possible to go too far and introduce side-wiggle.
>>64770945>>64771004It runs MUCH better now. It is still a little rough but I wasnt using dial gauges and calipers or anything. I had thought the majority of it would be the 3-faceted 'flat' part (didnt touch that), but it appears that if the flat side of the pin facing outwards is in the 3 o'clock position, it is when the locking piece is exerting pressure on the blade right against the 7-9 o'clock position that the most friction is felt. Would be an extra step and more machine work but a squared pivot pin with a bushing that was round externally with a square internal might eliminate the need for recessed bearing slots on the blade (would make it smoother if you kept them). Extra part and cost obviously. Thanks for the advice! I will just have to deal with this as part of owning this model knife but damn I wish I could open it as smooth as the socom bravo (yes I know that one is a frame lock) just because I have whatever autism it is that even if I buy a high end knife, I want to take extra steps to polish and clean it and make it even better lmao.Real dumb question, I still have that Venomtech I got in college, but the kydex holder thing got sunbaked and split open a bit. If I ever do send it in for servicing, do you guys have the specs to make a replacement or am I better off finding a local kydex pistol guy? Up to me I kinda want a boiled leather or kydex inner around the blade tight but a nice wet molded and tooled belt attachment for it just to have a project to make.
>>64769020It's underrated because the Para Military 2 stole all its thunder.

Post your most interesting, cool or weird uniforms and kits. Pic related isBengal troops uniforms during colonial period.
>>64748314Damn. Totally forgot about those guys. I think they said that the helmets were made out of fiberglass or a similar material that provided no protection. They also said that you couldn't lie prone while using the helmets because of the "neck guard" would prevent you from raising your head up. I think Saddam's son just liked the style and that is why they used it.
>>64770818What was the "battle uniform" for those guards?
>>64771413Image you linked is the Restoration of 1814/15 (excluding Napoleon's 100 Days) to 1830, per wikipedia at least (open to being wrong here) this is what they'd be wearing in active service. I'd assume like the Swiss guard you'd have stuffy guys around the palaces with the actual reserve or non-duty guys drilling and training in something like this
>>64771413OK reading more and that specifically is the Garde de la Manche so more of a processional bodyguard outfit. If you look at the UK, the Honorable Corps of Gentleman at Arms and especially the Royal Company of Archers are similar. Something like an elite honor guard but not necessarily the best of the best delta force guys but very tenured experienced people in a semi ritualized thing.
>>64762539>>64742471are these the same ?
>You’re in command of Cuban military. >US Carrier group parked outside your island >Trump seems determined for a regime change How do you defend the island?
>>64770583How do the crayons taste?
>>64770884Every time someone cites the 'gorilla warfare!1' meme they can only ever cite those two examples. One in Vietnam where the US military was hamstrung by it's own government and wasn't allowed to to follow them or attack North Vietnam. The other in Afghanistan where the Taliban scurried over the border into Pakistan and the US Government prevented the military from following them again, and every time they climbed over the mountains back into Afghanistan they got turned into paste. That's not even to mention the K:D ration in Vietnam was lopsided in favor of the US to put it mildly, and in Afghanistan it was outright laughable for the amount of time we were there.Guerilla warfare doesn't work on an island against the US military (the island itself being within pissing distance of America too), with a bunch of weapons leftover from the 60s, with a population that by and large isn't interested in maintaining Communism for the sake of it. Anyone interested can go and check out how the Cuban 'masters' faired in Angola.
>>64770884Yea, being trapped on an island without retreat or resupply, while the US airforce is circling above does not sound very sustainable.
>>64770672No, their economy sorta collapsed when the soviets did and AFAIK they haven't gotten any new equipment since the late 80s
>>64771018you're a retard that's mad goat romancing tribesmen and buck-toothed gooks btfoed you, now coping with your video-game highscore logic>muh political constraintsthat's a military reality retard, the US internal system allowing for its military prowess is reliant upon a pacifist populace that is not aggressively tribal and ethnocentric, thus excluding certain forms of warfare from your military repertoire, the fear of chinese intervention in north vietnam was also a military reality>muh US K.D in vietnamwhy do mutts always seem to forget the south vietnamese they claimed to have been helping in the first place? your 'allies' died in droves as wellyeah you guys could have 'won' your conflicts by nuking and genociding everyone, followed by your system collapsing from the implications and cognitive dissonance that would ensue from a humanist universalist society going Genghis Khanbut yea the cuban government is full of scammers, liars, and idiots, they're not going to have much support once the US bribes their officials with a piece of chicken and 15$
