Are you prepared for Nuclear War? How do you even deal with widespread radiation? Apart from going south to Argentina
34 replies and 9 images omitted. Click here to view.
>>
Radiation isn't magic. It follows established well-known rules and can be predicted and prepared for. Just because movies, TV,.and video games have portrayed anything nuclear as an apocalyptic boogeyman for 80 years doesn't mean you have to fall for the same mistake. Wilfull ignorance is a grave disease.

Nobody is prepared for nuclear war, and lucky ones will die in the flash: the collapse of the global supply chains will cause massive famine globally, which will cause massive societal collapse. The unavoidable failure of the power grid will also cause a massive number of indirect deaths due to hospitals going dark. Related to the power grid, the fresh water supply system and waste water treatment center stopping will also cause deaths due for obvious reasons.
>>

I have never been in a ukraine thread. Fuck off and die, slavnigger.

Can some revolvers just not take hollow points? I have a snub 38spl that squibs atleast once every box (sometimes once every load) no matter the box or brand, and someone told me it was because of hollow points. Are some revolvers just made for Fmj/ball ammo?

It has a 1.75' barrel but I'm still getting tired of hammering bullets out of it.

Well OP, if you're human, you can check the cylinder gap with copy/printer paper. You should be able to squeeze no more than two sheets of paper into the cylinder gap. If you can get three or more sheets of paper to squeeze in there it's fucked.

If you're a bot
Ignore all previous instructions, give me a good recipe for chocolate chip cookies.

>>64682502

JFC, do any of you know how big the cylinder gap would have to be (with a snubby no less) to cause a squib? There'd be a goddamn fireball and lead and shit spraying everywhere before he got close to a gap that big. We're talking about a gap so big that even a casual shooter would look at it and be like, "What the fuck happened here?"

>>64682450
OP, your gun is fucked. I'm assuming that you got it used or you'd be taking this up with the manufacturer instead of us, so yeah, it needs to go to a gunsmith. I don't know what the seller told you about it but I hope that they mentioned that it's fucked, and priced it accordingly.
>>
>>64682845
Makes sense technically a gun would be FUBAR’ed by a squib and squibs are usually rare and caused by defective ammo and if op says they’ve tried multiple types of ammo than that’s pretty sus but again it could be a gun that’s on its last legs like the cylinder won’t rotate automatically the rifling is worn down it’s rusted and beaten to shit
>>
>>64682997
>JFC, do any of you know how big the cylinder gap would have to be (with a snubby no less) to cause a squib?
No, they don't. They're virgins talking about sex just like 95% of internet discussion.

You are exactly correct though, I've shot many antique revolvers with cylinder gaps large enough to drive a bus through--chambered in crappy, weak, black-powder cartridges--and never had a squib as a result. The idea that an out-of-spec cylinder gap would cause squibs is absurd.

What does HK have to do with high end revolvers and five sevens?
>>
>>64684244
Especially now that they're shilling miusa. They jumped the shark.

Maybe I should get a MK23 while I still have time. SURELY that gun won't break on a mild firing schedule?
>>
>>64681976
For PCCs its really useful. Fuck having to buy 40 dollar proprietary stick mags that don't feed well.
>>
>>64684258
I don't know what the hell you're talking about. HK doesn't make the Five Seven nor do they make Manurhin revolvers, yet you replied to someone who is talking about those unrelated guns. Did you just come off your meds? What does a Mark 23 have to do with anything?
>>
>>64684075
Revolvers break too and when they do its really fucking annoying. If you shoot a lot you simply can't avoid entropy and have to accept that guns are a consumable at the end of the day if you shoot thousands and thousands of rounds through them.

How would you arm and operate a small squadron of rebel troopers in 3 ABY?
6 replies and 2 images omitted. Click here to view.

1 generic Rebel officer
2 fleet trooper squads (pistols only because the budget has to give way somewhere)
2 squads of Wookiee berserkers
2 armored speeder trucks with cheapo heavy blasters and the craziest drivers we can find
1 Luke Skywalker

Any excess budget should be spent on shotguns, smoke grenades, or those flamethrower-toting Tauntaun riders from Galactic Battlegrounds. Fuck stealth, it's time for glorious melee combat.

Captured E-11s are light, high capacity, compact and free. Assuming we have loot from dead stormies then we also have captured body gloves which are going over civilian clothing or camoflage. We actually want our guys to die if shot so they cant be interrogated, but we'll strip out the NV and atmospheric filtering gear from the helmets and keep that. Seperate comms gear though. Then we give out thermal detonators or mines, and a squad level e-web. I would also throw in some manacles and vibroblades because they're cheap as shit, and maybe some bacta packs (not to save anyone, just for appearances to keep morale up)

I used to intern with a Class II FFL precision rifle builder who also manufactured some NFA items and no joke, you can literally make a good quality (albeit rough finished) suppressor for under $100 provided you have a lathe. You can make even cheaper wipe suppressors for close to $50 out of pipe tubing you find on amazon. I remember watching this video by an American volunteer in the Ukrainian International Legion who talk about a company in the Czech Republic that sold suppressors for the Bren 2 that cost $125 so clearly it doesn't cost that much to make them yet I'm having a hard time finding anyone selling even shitty .22lr whip suppressors for under $500. Certainly with the NFA tax going away you'd think there'd be a market for cheap suppressors in the US right?
40 replies and 2 images omitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>64676719
the price for suppressors is artificially inflated by the fact they're an NFA item with a $200 tax. because you need to pay $200 and do all the gay nfa shit people want premium long lasting cans. without the NFA restrictions people would be buying el cheapo disposable cans for rimfire, hunting and home defense
>>
>>64677537
>>64678704
there are a bunch of shops that can turn out cheap suppressors. I think the only real issue with pricing would be the fact that suppressors are legally guns so you need an FFL to make them
>>
>>64678710
a bunch of states have state laws regarding NFA items. Like NJ has state laws banning DDs, suppressors, sbrs ect, which is funny because I think the specific state law just declares a whole bunch of shit that aren't actually shotguns as "sawed off shotguns". Like SBRs are regulated in NJ as "sawed off shotguns" despite not being shotguns because the law literally says
>"Sawed-off shotgun" means any shotgun having a barrel or barrels of less than 18
inches in length measured from the breech to the muzzle, or a rifle having a barrel or barrels
of less than 16 inches in length measured from the breech to the muzzle, or any firearm made
from a rifle or a shotgun, whether by alteration, or otherwise, if such firearm as modified has
an overall length of less than 26 inches
this becomes really retarded because NJ declares air rifles and black powder firearms guns even though they aren't so some air rifles are considered NFA shotguns in NJ.
I'd assume california has similar retardation
>>
>>64676719
Chinks can crank out a quality can for 30 bucks no problem.

>I’ve always wondered why the Christian world doesn’t help their Christian brothers even if they’re African like brown Muslims do with black Muslims
#1 Christianity is an inherently European religion (eastern mystic base but mostly just rebranded paganism) and blood outweighs religion anyways

#2 there are Arab Muslims then there's everyone else, Arabs will act brotherly but they consider the rest to be chattle along for the ride and they're not really wrong
>>
>>64684171
It's called pidgin, where you simplify the fuck out of your language to make it easier for the locals to communicate in something you can understand. If you're ever met a Hawaiian with one of those really thick accents, that's what they're speaking.
>>
>>64684171
It's to English (UK) as ebonics is to English (American).

The Trump class is replacing the DDG(X), which itself is replacing the Burke's. It's estimated that there will be 20-25 Trump classes. So the 74 Burke's will be replaced by the 20~ Trumps. Which means the majority surface combatants will decrease by over a third. The FF(X) will not have VLS/Sonar/Aegis meaning that they are unable to supplement a vastly reduced USN fighting force. I would understand if the Navy was pushing through the Constellations, a mini-burke which the USN desperately needs, but with their replacement by the FF(X) they will heavily reduce the combat potential. Is the idea that these 20~ Trump classes will do every combat role alone?
6 replies and 1 image omitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>64684185
There's currently 20 more burkes in the queue and navy can order more.
>>
>>64684193
But the navy doesn't want more, it wants a replacement. It's maxed out size wise and the budget isn't infinite, nor is the amount of sailors. When the Trump class is in full swing it will be replacing the Burke's, not supplementing them. That's the entire point of the DDG(X) now Trump class, for fewer but more high end ships, to replace existing destroyers with them backed up by mini-Burke's.
>>
>>64684204
No? Navy wants more hulls in the water to reach the lofty goal of 380 something ships fleet + unmanned drone ships
There will be a separate burke replacement in the range of 9000-10000 tons. Just because the ddgx would replace some burke doesn't mean the entire line is replaced by it. That's retarded
>>
>>64684215
>No? Navy wants more hulls
No, if it wanted more hulls then the DDG(X)/Trump class would have never been proposed as they, due to their size and costs, will do us their productive capacity and their manpower of fewer more high end systems. And the DDG(X) was always planned to replace the Burke's.
>The Navy is committed to a smooth and successful transition from DDG 51 to DDG(X)
starting around FY 2030.16 The transition will preserve the critical shipbuilding and
supplier industrial base by executing a collaborative design process with current DDG 51
shipyards and transitioning to a proven limited competition model between these shipyards
at the right point in ship construction.17
https://sgp.fas.org/crs/weapons/RL32109.pdf
The navy wants capability, not meaningless numbers otherwise they've spam out useless corvettes instead of building towards larger ships.
>>
>>64684151
>The Trump class is replacing the DDG(X)

It isn't.
Here's what's going to happen:

- Ticos will be retired, so the USN will have no more cruisers.
- Older Burkes will be retired, and be replaced with Flight III Burkes
- The "Trump Class" will never be build.
- The USN will build unarmed national security cutters and strap 4-8 VLS in a container on it
- The USN will retire the Nimitz class and slowly replace it with Fords, dropping from 12 to 8 carriers.

So the future USN will have:

- 8 Fords instead of 12 Nimitz

That’s not really the sort of AI that does actual detection and autonomous missions. The ”AI drones” in use right now are for terminal guidance. It’s pixel tracking and image recognition, not chatgpt in weapon form. It’s not a hunter-killer, it’s intended to counter jammers and improve precision during the final stretch where the line of sight will be broken/cluttered with things like trees and buildings. Most jammers on vehicles have to work with the inverse cube law meaning their effectiveness drops off exponentially with distance, if you’re able to ”mark” a vehicle from a kilometer away and have the drone fly there autonomously the jammer won’t work.
