>>64697356You're trying extremely hard to put words in my mouth and then argue against them. Are these strawmen in the room with you right now? The tabletop rules are what's canon, because they're not subject to powerwankery (primarily from space marine authors) with varying levels of individual autist-narcissism, because the armies HAVE to be mechanically balanced against all the other factions. There is a natural regulator in the rules development that prevents one autist on the dev team from declaring his faction as the coolest and is better than everything else. 3rd edition rules are the peak and best, but whatever the rules are currently, that's the actual power level everything is, relative to each other. Space Marines aren't walking tanks. Dreadnoughts are. Terminators have the armor that everyone *thinks* standard marines have, and even then they're still not walking tanks. And all the insane bullshit that people apply to marines, like Jedi levels of perception and whatever, only Primarchs could possibly possess that amount of ability. And even then, nah. The fuckin God Emperor couldn't do half the bullshit that are attributed to standard marines in some of the books.

>>64690590>>64692047Guardsmen have krak grenades, vehicles with heavy bolters and multi lasers in mechanized units, and may or may not have mortars, heavy weapons teams with heavy stubbers (M2 machine guns, apparently) and rocket launchersThe tabletop rules are there to make shit simple but in the lore they have at least WW2 levels of integral combined arms. The main exception is that you don't see a SAW equivalent in guardsman squads, but 10 guardsmen with lasguns probably mog the firepower of a modern day rifle squad quite substantially.

>>64695544Not true at all, there were many contemporary gliders during the Wright Brothers time, they were mainly large kites. The brotheres were actually in contact with one of the more successful designers. It was powered flight that the Wright brothers pioneered, as before them no one had an engine light enough to put on a glider of the time. They also invented the controls that made the aircraft steerable, rather than just a kite in the wind.
very cool anon, thank you.

I'm a brainlet when it comes to acoustics, but are there reasons other than price/difficulty as to why a monolithic suppressor made of sintered titanium or stainless steel wouldn't work ? Think of acoustic foam with insane weight to structural strength.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bq2AM9x80nA&t=63s
>>64697605>Some cans are close to what you are talking about, they are filled with nothing but scrap metal shavings. For a long time, one of the best .22 Ruger cans on the market was filled with what looked like shoe grommets. Just a ported barrel, an outer tube that matched the profile of the original heavy barrel, then a bunch of brass grommets.
Acoustic foam works by scattering the sound waves in all directions, thereby diffusing it. Suppressors work by redirecting and sequestering the noise into little compartments. Metal foam topology would likely impede this redirection, I think, and I don't think the bonus of diffusing the sound would make up for it.
>>64697430Sounds kind of like a glasspack muffler for motorcycles
>>64697430Use this as a wipe, it might work for flash instead of sound. The mesh will catch unburnt powder and act as a heat sink
>>64697612>Acoustic foam works by scattering the sound waves in all directions, thereby diffusing itUsually this type of treatment is used for absorption. The sound enters the material and gets turned into vibration and heat. You'll also get diffusion for the waves that don't get absorbed, but that's a secondary effect.
Chile sending Marders to Ukraine, possibly Leopards.Chile has sent an initial batch of 30 Marders to Europe as part of an extended ringtauche scheme. They will be refitted and sent to the Ukrainian frontline. Chile will recieve Skyranger equipped vehicles in return. It is likely that aging Leopard 1s in Chilean service will be sent along with more Marders.Chile planned to refit it's Leopard 1 fleet as missile destroyers and smart mortar carriers as Chilean Leopard 2s and Marders are upgraded by FAMAE and Turkish partners to totally replace all Leopard 1 tanks and M113 remaining in service. Now it seems that the Leopard 1 and YPR76 vehicle pools may be done away with entirely at a rapid pace, sent abroad, as the Leopard 2A4CHL and Marders become the reserve units at an accelerated pace.A staunch NATO ally, Chile has flirted with purchasing new build Leopards over the years as well as Puma and Lynx infantry fighting vehicles with German arms makers even proposing domestic production. The time for that may come soon. With the sometimes hostile neighbor Peru set to soon induct the K2 MBT and an 8x8 IFV variant of the K808 into service and rival Brazil likely to acquire the CV90MKIV and a new yet announced MBT soon, it is likely that Chile, now with a new pro-military cabinet elect will choose to acquire new build modern armor.

What's the minimum standard to train to if you are going to carry? I am not talking SOF, I am not talking some mercenary company standards. Just something that a person can't do after 50 rounds, but 100% of people can do after 3-6 months. Think 2 plate bench / 3 plate deadlift.I am guessing it's 2 rounds on target from rest or holster in x time. What's that x?What's the best way to train for it?
>>64697540>>64697534Thanks anon, I am really looking for something super retarded to use as a standard.Like 2 shots in 2 seconds from low ready within a 3 inch group at 15 yards, or something SUPER basic. I don't know what that standard should be.Also, I find target transitions on the same target to be useless. Better than nothing, sure, but much nicer to have a couple targets outside or a steel tree. Though I likely won't have time to go to an outdoor range anymore. And also need a good timer recommendation, like the glock/honda civic of shot timers with a random start beep component.
>>64697471I have nothing to base this on other than feels, but I think a 2 second draw and 3 accurate hits in 3 seconds at 7 yards is a pretty achievable standard for carry without expecting too much. A two second draw means you have at least gotten consistent with your grip and know how to draw without snagging on everything, and one shot every .5 seconds shows that you have acceptable trigger control and probably won't be pulling shots into the dirt if you get attacked. Realistically, even that's probably beyond the point of diminishing returns for carry, but if a person is going to carry a gun, they should at least put some goddamn effort into it.
>>64697471Get a mantis or similar dry fire system. Everyday before you got to work practice drawing, dry firing, and holstering your gun 5 times. As you get faster and smother, reduce the size of the target. If you have to shoot someone for real, you'll be doing a bill drill or similar. You'll have to shoot outside every once in a while to validate your dry firing. You should also carry a dagger on your non dominant side so you can create space to draw your pistol. You need to practice drawing your knife, creating space, then transitioning to your pistol. Go into the eye if you can. Congratulations, you're better trained than 99% of people you will encounter. It will cost you about 15 mins a day.
>>64697471Take a concealed carry course, goddamn you kids really don't have a hundred bucks? Courses are very cheap and you can learn from people with more experience, not retards on the internet or trying to figure it out your retarded self. Sorry you decided to be a gay faggy unsworn so you only have access to civilian training, you'll just have to figure out what training schools are good.
Fist size group at 25, time doesn't matter. Practice draws until you can do it with eyes closed while wearing different pants and jackets/no jacket.Run

I am very curious to know what /k/ would use in the zombiepocalypse. What would actually be best? I always thought that the writers for the show had a lot of missed opportunities for /k/ino guns, gear, armor and weapon concepts both from history and modern times they could have applied to the show. A lot of stuff just felt like it was missing. Every time there was an actually big faction it seemed like they didn't equip their grunts with the most effective choices. Keep in mind, it would still have to be things that you can continue to use well into the future. There is no military supply chain in the zombie apocalypse unless you are with an utterly gigantic group of survivors.
>>64693730>TWDTotal Walker Death?
>>64697757Bayonets would work in a pinch but they are not nearly as useful against zombies as they are against people amd horses because they lack reachA full on pike phalanx is simply untouchable because the zombies can't get through the pikes to reach the delicious humans beyond whereas a bayonet leaves you practically within biting distance
>>64695319You have to consider the skills and materials available in such a scenarioFull plate is bespoke and cannot be produced by anything less than a specialised expert in the field (simpler armour designs like curiasses and chain mail are more doable) and require large amounts of high quality steel. A new model style army on the other hand has the bulk of its metal in gun barrels and pike tips, which are both easier to make and less material intensive.Remember that we are fighting an enemy whose primary tactic is mass, and we are doing it without the benefit of a modern defence industrial base behind us so our best tactic is likewise to mass as many soldiers as we can and have them fight as efficiently as possible
Two full sized handguns that have commercially available 30rd magazines and can accept lasers. Get good at eyeballing when your laser is on a shambler's head and pop them, 60~ rounds at disposal, suppressible, subsonic an option, can have one hand free and other completely capable of combat. 9mm or 5.7 if you're swanky. For 'armor' motorcycle gear can cover full body and offer flexibly, light enough certainty against bite or scratch. But thick denim also is probably fine. For a base, prefer a wooded area, something at the top of a steep slope maybe that leads down to a creak. Even if it's not drinkable water all the time just having water has a lot of other applications. Construct a 'maze' of sorts by using fence wire around tree trunks with only one actual zig-zag way in that you know, and otherwise hinders zombie movement without being obvious. Have an implement that brains them when they get tangled/tripped.

You'd have to build a truly ridiculous number of them and get them all to hit Beijing in order for China to even notice. It would also be a deterrence nightmare, any kind of first launch would and should be treated as nuclear... So you might as well put nukes on them in the first place. Maybe even put them on a more survivable platform, like, I don't know, a boat that can submerge?
>>64697971Well, no not really. A war between China and the United States will be decided within a month long before anyone floats any significant tonnage. Either they stand off the United States airforce and navy in which case they've basically already won, or they fail to do that and all of their shipyards cease to exist.
The US buys enough tomahawks to replace the ones it used up
>>64697919A better metric would be to look at what they have available to use. There's a reason the abrams tank production is pretty low. No reason to make a fuck ton of them if all they're gonna do is sit around eating up maintenance funds. Or worse, end up like Russia's stockpile of tanks that were so run down because they had the bright idea to make a ton but never maintain them.
I wonder if Iran has also smuggled Shahed drones onto Venezuela, since they could hide the launch containers in the jungle for ambushing US warships
