Small ring mausers (most guns in 7mmx57 or 6.5x55) have poorer gas handling characteristics and they also lack the safety lug of the large ring, 03, P-14 or modern commercial actions. Basically they are more dangerous to be holding if you make a woopsy.
>>
they’re basically the same thing and the differences will be found in autistic minutiae.

>Caliber difference of like 4 human hairs
>Imperceptible difference in ogive length
>Action length difference of like 3mm
>~5-10% difference in sectional energy

I guess let’s say the Mauser cause I’m biased towards CETME style cartridges and that gets closer. It’s got a longer, wider, finer bullet and a lower overbore ratio.

>>
>>64639470
>6.5x55?
Europeans do load those to higher pressures. You'll occasionally run into a hunter with a custom gun and loads that are not safe for the old world war rifles. 7mm Mauser on the other hand, while it's a great cartridge, it ended up being completely overshadowed by 8mm Mauser. All the poors in the old world used 8mm as much as we Americans used 30-06.
>>
>>64638018
Lol, .243 is better than 6mm. What a moron.

in the new upcoming Resident Evil game, Leon seems to carry a hatchet instead of his usual knife, which seems like an obvious choice, more range, more power behind the strikes, you just lose a bit of precision.

Change the length of the haft. Halberds would be ideal because you can chop at a distance but still use the pointy end to keep them at bay. Something between 6' and 8' could even be handled in a hallway if you choke up.

The problem with these drugs is there's a good delay between ingestion and effects. It would make more sense to lace your enemy's water/food or cropdust them.

How much of a serious difference is there in between various brands of 5.56? Assuming same grain weight, bullet type, whatever. I'm trying to buy ammo in bulk and I'm struggling to figure out what brands to buy for both M193 and M855. Currently looking at Winchester for both just because it's cheap and there's a rebate for them. Both will just be for plinking and hoarding.

5. With a bipod (optional)
6. In .30-06
Why? Autism.
What is the current meta for this particular flavor of autism? I would ask /prs/ but they haven't had a thread in a month and I'm not planning on taking this out further than 500 yards anyway. Budget is $2k. Might deer hunt with it so "not a piece of inaccurate shit" is also prefered.

I think it'll exceed the short barrel limits on a supressor.
You need to keep the piston lubed with white Lithium.
Pic related I shot out the end cap in about 5 rounds.
Luckily I can just pick up another and stopped before a baffle strike.
If you do I'd just go full size 9mm and try sliding it down your pant leg or something lol.
I'd never put water in a $1000 supressor I don't really care how "quiet" it becomes.
A modern supressor is plenty quiet with the right ammo imo.

>Another area in which China’s high-end capabilities are already outstripping those of the United States is in airborne long-range early warning and command system (AWACS) aircraft. These aircraft are huge force multipliers because they provide air forces and joint forces with long-range, wide-area radar coverage for early warning, battlespace management, and targeting. The PLA already has roughly 60 modern AWACS, all equipped with the latest active electronically scanned array-type radars and advanced data link and satellite communications capabilities to act as network nodes. More are being produced each year.
>By contrast, the U.S. Air Force has only 16 serviceable AWACS, and these are the nearly obsolete and badly worn-out E-3G Sentry. The plan to acquire the Boeing E-7A Wedgetail to replace this rapidly shrinking fleet was canceled by Hegseth in June 2025, citing concerns over cost overruns, delays, and operational vulnerability. Congress included $400 million to continue the program in the bipartisan bill to end the U.S. government shutdown in November, but even if the program does survive, it may be downsized and still faces significant delays. That means that the United States will face an airborne sensor and airborne networking and battle management node gap with China for at least a decade. Both nations are pursuing advanced space-based sensor and networking capabilities, but these are not yet ready to replace AWACS coverage

As of 2024, the US had in service :
>21 E-3
>10 squadrons operating 4 E-2 each.

Now, there is an issue with replacement indeed.
The USA did potentially fuck up by cancelling the E-7 acquisition bid.

That's worse than the time we had a mine shaft gap with the Soviets! This will not stand! We must do something!
>>
>>64640393
2026 NDAA has more or less made the E-7 cancellation illegal. Unfortunately they didn’t stick to their guns as hard on F/A-XX so the only thing keeping that program vaguely alive right now is the possibility that part of Link Plumeria still goes to life support for it.

This. Get a .45 tisas on sale for a good price and you'll be happy with it. RIA is fine but the specs are a little wonky in some spots and they're not good candidates for upgrading later.

I wouldn't really recommend a 1911 as a first gun but you could do far worse, probably five generations of american men shot a pistol for the first time with a GI 1911
>>
If you're going to get a 1911 for your first (and possibly only) gun I would shell the thousand bucks or so for a good, reputable manufacturer. I think they're great for first guns, my first was a Ruger sr1911 and I learned to shoot on it. But like this guy said, >>64640133, if budget is a concern I would way sooner go with some Leo trade in 9mm and if you enjoy it get a good 1911 to carry or a cheap one for range fun later. I really wouldn't want to bet my life on tisas or ria.

Honestly impressed it took over a dozen replies for Tisas to get shilled in a 1911 thread. Average has been more like 3-4.

It’s hard to argue against them from a value standpoint, and in general I’m just happy people are buying and enjoying 1911s, but for me personally buying a Turkshit copy of one of the most quintessentially American firearms just feels… wrong.

We are investigating the J-8I and J-8II, the slender dragons.
Why did China require an interceptor such as the J-8?
What are the differences between the first and second generations?
What features does the J-8 have?
How significant is the J-8 in the progress of China's military aviation sector?

Looking it up, it appears to just the NSM box launchers we've seen for a while and Nulka decoys. It doesn't hurt, but it's not really the same thing as having VLS. How about the fire control system? I thought they were using the Firescouts for targeting the NSMs, what's getting added?

Its too late to be picky. The number 1 role requirment when the FFg(X) was setting up was for the chosen Frigate to free up Large Surface Combatants so Burkes arent wasting time on nothing jobs like patrols, dickwaving and helping seize tankers.
The other was defintely about having a shipyard heading into the 2030s pumping out 2 frigates a year. Japan, China, Korea, Spain, Italy, France and the U.K all have shipyards pumping out frigates. America is the odd one out.

If the US can use the shitty NSC to half arse frigates its better than not having them just for being able to free up Burkes. Really the actual solution was to do what Greece and Indonesia did and just buy straight from Italy
