Why don't you own a nagant revolver in 9x19mm luger yet? edition

Why were so many old primers rounded like that instead of square like nowadays?
>>
>>65027454
Could go the Khyber pass route and rechamber an AK. Hell of a lot cheaper and you (probably) won’t burst the barrel.

How do y'all stay abreast of surplus deals and incoming shit rods? I pretty much rely on /msg/ and word of mouth before I hear about what's suddenly available. I missed out on the Portuguese 1904's a few years ago but managed to get one of the nicer M1937As.
Do I just need to sign up for Sweaty Ben's newsletters?

The picture is terrible but you get the idea. Why aren't there any beefier versions of this to sue as a snap caps or dummy round? It would make dry fire practice a lot more entertaining.

just make it completly hollow and use the force of the firing pin hitting it to launch your projectile.you can launch pencils into the ceiling with a normal gun.

I like this idea, but I'm a little worried about it not absorbing enough of the force to do it's job as a dummy round/snap cap on a revolver. Was originally figuring there would be some seer inside that a nubbin would get smacked into to bend the seer otu of the way and release the spring. Just using the existing energy from the hammer spring probably makes more sense becuase it's probably stronger spring then what would be in the round anyways....

Here is what I came up with using your idea. The orange piece is shown upside down, the nubbin on the top would go through the bottom cutout and be where the primer would be. Not shown here is some extra material I will add inside the case to act as a retension for the orange dumbell shaped object (it's that shape so I can make it retained, and I will have it print in place inside of the casing.

It will have just enough movement to transfer the energy to the wedged in projectile.

A "dry fire" system that uses a primer per shot has always been a dream solution. I've only been reloading since 2012, but small pistol primers have always been about the same price as .22LR/round, and even in North Dakota, the winters aren't harsh enough for me to spend time reloading wax bullets on centerfire brass just to simulate shooting indoors.
>>
>>65033527
You can use beeswax/paraffin blender to make wax bullets to shoot with just a primer. My dad used to do that with his .357 so we could shoot indoors when I was little. Make a layer of wax about 1/2 in deep in a tin, then push primed casings into it, the brass will cut a little slug. Accurate enough to have fun across the basement.

I haven't seen one in a good while. I'm seriously thinking about buying an AUG soon so I'd like some advice.

I know there's both 5.56 and .300 blackout variants to choose from and I'm leaning towards the .300 and just using supersonic ammunition. AUGs are notable for being poor suppressor hosts anyways, right? Plus, prices for supersonic .300 aren't that bad according to AmmoSeek when compared to 75/77gr 5.56 which I already buy. Plus if I ever change my mind about .300 I could just buy a 5.56 barrel.

>The Mosquito wasn't an air superiority fighter
because it wasn't as good as the single-engine alternatives available; to whit, it lacked manoeuvrability althought it had sufficient speed
as I said, that's the problem with WW2-era twin props, the only thing they really provided was range and payload

even so, in theory the Mosquito could have been a good fighter so long as one strictly used it for zoom and boom tactics only

If youre fighting armored opponents with a shotgun something is horribly wrong. A rifle is the minimum, only a hail of gunfire will slow other armed men down. Lvl 4 plates may stop the rounds however it will destroy all soft armor on any other part of the body making the abdomen, groin, legs all highly vulnerable.

If you were only limited to shotguns id look into home made exploding slugs as made on TAOFLEDERMAUS or phosphorus shot with tungsten to both have hard impact and set fires. Lets see feds shoot back with phosphorus burning inside their skin.

I’ve looked at this closely, and one of the clearest, most tangible objectives of any ground move would be the small islands Iran took by force from Gulf states in the 1970s, especially Siri and Abu Musa.

They’re strategic, symbolic, and relatively low risk. The U.S. could realistically help return them to the UAE if Iran refuses to cooperate, instantly creating real leverage in negotiations.

Unlike places like Kharg or Qeshm, these islands sit far enough from the Iranian mainland to be harder targets for drones and short range missiles. That makes them much easier to hold and defend, rather than turning into constant strike zones.

Let me know if you think I’m wrong here.

Personally, I don’t see much value in targeting Kharg. If the goal is to disrupt Iran’s oil exports, the U.S. could achieve that at sea just out of the strait by intercepting shipments, without committing troops to a fixed, exposed position. Seizing the island would deliver similar disruption but at a much higher cost, with limited upside in terms of actual oil gained and a significant risk of infrastructure being destroyed.

On top of that, Kharg sits well within range of even basic unguided rockets and the newest optic fiber drone systems, making it a constant liability to defend. By contrast, the smaller islands are far, already have airstrips and could support defensive systems, including short range interceptors useful to protect Dubai. Overall being far more manageable positions.

It'd be funny if there actually was a dude in UCP in there because there totally could be, but so far as I know it's just a landscape pic. Basically UCP works better in southern Idaho than just about anywhere else on earth. It's the entire reason I still have my old UCP crap. That particular biome is an outright perfect color match most of the year. UCP is absolutely steaming ass in most places (unless you dye it), but in that sort of stuff you'd be a ghost. It's the only place UCP is going to shit all over just about any other pattern you can find. It's about as universal as a G11's internals.

>>65034292
Lot of southern Idaho and southeastern Oregon are great examples. It's all high desert but the biome is dominated by dry grasses and sagebrush.

Not sure about the smaller ones but the two handers, otherwise known ad eviscerators have rudimentary disruption field generators(the thing power weapons use to cut through pretty much anything)that presumably aid in keeping them running no matter what you hit with it.

A 7.62 round made of HE would deliver energy more in the ballpark of .50 BMG, a .75 inch round with a HEAT warhead could punch through something like 5 inches of armor, depending on the design. They'd be a lot better than the tabletop stats suggest.
>>65028630
There are 40mm HEDP rounds, .75 of an inch is somewhere in the ballpark of half that diameter. It's definitely doable.
>>65028940
I thought there were designs being worked on that used pulsed lasers to create a channel of ionized air to the target and then dumped a fuckload of electricity through the channel.
