I forgot to include an opinion. For me, I think that for most purposes, a .25-.30 caliber bullet is more than sufficient for terminal effect, superior for exterior ballistics, and if I want a larger bullet for brush busting or dangerous game, I'm going to want a .35-.40 caliber like .375 Ruger, 9.3x62, or .404 Jeffery. So I would choose .30-06 over 7.92x57 every time.

>in self defense scenario

>cycle again, fuck up cycling again, click

NTA, but if you screw up once then you are liable to screw it up again, and you are very unlikely to figure out what you are doing wrong before whatever it is that you are self-defencing against kills you.

A semi-automatic jamming of its own accord is extremely unlikely if the gun is of reputable quality and properly maintained, and if you use similarly reputable ammo and test it before hand to ensure reliable cycling. This applies equally as much to revolvers, pump action shotguns etc and all the potential non-user induced malfunctions that they can suffer. What sets short stroking apart from other malfunctions is that you can't reduce the risk of malfunction before hand . If you poorly handle a pump action in a particular way then it will definitely malfunction, and the only way to prevent that malfunction is to train so intensely that correct pumping is second nature. This isn't an undealable issue by any means, but it does put a burden on the gun owner to actually train with their weapon routinely, and someone who wants to leave a longarm in their bedroom for home defense might not want to train that much. Especially since the main argument for pumps over a halfway decent AR15 is being a few hundred bucks cheaper, which is hardly a good argument if you then have to spend a couple of hundred bucks a year putting shells through the gun to compensate for the more challenging handling requirements.
>>
>>64684939
>Did any of his points have merit?
Let's look at his points (curse you, I had no intention of watching this video until you made the thread; I had already decided I like pumps):
>From observing his wife who had less experience with them he noticed they are more prone to user induced malfunctions.
This is true. Manually operated firearms require more familiarization to get good with. They are great for people who love guns and are willing to practice with them but suck for people who buy a gun and leave it in a nightstand or closet until they need it.
>Semi-auto shotguns have become much more reliable but pump-action shotguns are still just as likely to run into those user induced malfunctions.
>That's true (as long as you avoid Turkshit), a Benelli M4 will run full-power 00-buckshot no problem.

Anon, you can buy a pump as long as you're willing to familiarize yourself with it; they can cycle both light recoil ammo and full power loads without messing with any springs, so they are perfect for hunters. Just understand that if you hand this gun to a person who normally doesn't use pumps, then he's going to suck a lot more than if you had just given him a semi-auto shotgun or an AR-15. BTW, his opinion is not the contrarian opinion; ever since firearm culture started worshipping GWOT vets, the pump shotgun's popularity has been in decline. There are fewer instructors willing to give shotgun classes than ever before, and there are fewer people willing to take those classes than ever before.

(the doctrine of) Strategic bombing was, yes.
Bombers as combat aircraft were continuously under development for decades since World War One.
After World War Two, the jet engine arrived and task of 'bombing' was handed off to other multi-role mil aircraft. By the 1960s, after ICBMs ans SLBMs came into wide service for nuclear weapon delivery, the intercontinental strategic bomber had become a limited role niche weapon.

In many ways, World War II could be seen not only the peak and diversity of (different types of) bombers but of combat aircraft types, variations overall.

I should have stated "disproportionate defense of life", my mistake

>demonstrable desire or intent to harm someone can be used to rebutt the claim
I have yet to see a prosecutor convince a jury that being attacked was part of the defendant's plan

>the burden is on Defendant to prove they had a subjective reasonable immediate fear for life
Nuh uh, the defendant has the presumption of innocence when claiming defense of life

>State may offer evidence to rebutt the claim
AFAIAA, that has only ever worked against Johnnie Miller when he was recorded imploding his own self defense claim in real time by repeatedly saying "I doubt it" when Aaron Howard threatened to kill him. His son [practiced deterrence rather than intimidation] was acquitted in the same shooting however

>stupid looking gun because it's not going to do you any favors

>Nuh uh, the defendant has the presumption of innocence when claiming defense of life
You have a presumption of innocence meaning the State must presumptively prove the alleged conduct, but asserting certian defense require an ADMISSION to the conduct in order to justify the conduct. Self-defense is an AFFIRMATIVE defense, meaning you MUST admit to the alleged conduct but you assert the defense as a JUSTIFICATION to the conduct. The alternative would be the absurd situation where Defense claims "I didn't shoot him but if I did I feared for my life" which would make no sense.

Well yeah, grand jury proceedings are not trial. They exist only to find whether there is sufficient probable cause of the alleged conduct to issue a true bill to indict. Culpability and potential defenses generally do not factor into the decision. In fact in most states the defendant (or more accurately the "target") has no right to participate in the grand jury proceedings. If the grand jury doesn't find probable cause there's no charge to assert a defense to.

It's just a pigfat, slower, SU-27 with more payload. It will be significantly worse at anything other than lobbing a shitton of missiles , but SU-27 will fire first and hit first due to imparting more velocity onto the missile from more altitude in a traditional engagement.

That's the long answer, the short answer is that it can defend itself marginally if it comes under fire while doing a bomb run. Less so than an F-15E

>>

Honestly I think the core technology really missing is self propagating small unmanned vehicles capable of doing detail work. Shipping stuff up into orbit is a losing proposition vs sourcing what you need and assembling it already in space. Until that becomes a reality I don't see anything coming from space combat outside of one or two super powers launching them for clout before proceeding to do absolutely fuck all with them outside of burning literal piles of money on maintaining them.
