Yeah you could be a TACP. The one with us had a sick mustache and one time he killed a guy like ordering a pizza. Don't get stationed in Bishkek.

AF jobs:
>pilot (officers only)
>maintenance (hellhole)
>security forces (garbage)
>finance, supply, HR, medical (cushy and full of wooks)
>intel and cyber (cushy, can be cool)
>SOF (cool but very difficult)
Was there something in particular you wanted to join the Army for? Your experience in any branch will vastly differ based on your job choice.
>>
>>64760625
Nothing particularly. I do like outdoors and shooting, but it may be better to keep my hobbies separate from work so I don't grow to hate them. Airborne sounded cool but I hear airborne units drink a lot of kool aid.

I just wish to become a more hardened individual. I never really grew up. Enlisting kinda late. 26
>>
>>64760635
Couple options.
1) say fuck it and go for infantry or a SOF contract. Upside: get to do cool things, become mentally and physically tougher, gain a healthy aversion to bullshit. Downside: physically and mentally demanding, lots of bullshit, mileage varies significantly, chance of dying horribly in wartime.
2) choose a cushy job that will set you up post-service. best picks are single source intel in either branch (SIGINT/HUMINT/GEOINT) due to high chances of working with government agencies and networking well. Upsides: experience and qualifications, opportunities for post service careers if you play your cards right, less bullshit and physical stress than combat arms. Downsides: peers might all be annoying thin skinned reddit fags, lower chances of doing cool stuff or blowing things up, infantry dudes will call you a POG
3) take a good hard look at your life and come up with another way to "grow up" besides signing away 3+ years to the military

Just curious, what are the BEST jobs in the Marine Corps?

I just got a high paying job and in celebration I'm going to update my arsenal. Pls give input on my choices for these roles and let me know if there's something better:

>Ruger SFAR as main DMR rifle, open to other short receiver .308 ARs or a .308 bullpup
>M&P9 or 10mm Witness as handgun, I do live in grizzly country and this will be my primary HD/clearing gun
>Kel Tec RDB as building clearing/HD rifle
>KSG as HD shotgun
>Mossberg Aftershock as drone gun to be worn on a scabbard, can also double as bear gun with slugs
>300WM rifle as sniper (undecided but either a cheapo Savage bolty or go all in and get a Desert Tech SRS for $6k)

Already have my carry guns set and most of the common rifles for range funs but want specific ones that best fill those roles. What are your go-to's?

bonus points if he puts any of this on his cards and doesn't pay them off in the same month.
>>
>>64758463
This board is full of poor zogged trannies. That's not even 10k worth of guns (that's not a lot of money). I'm not even getting the $6k SRS, it just doesn't seem to justify the cost. Gonna go with a CZ600 in 300WM.
>>
>>64758664
10k might notbe life changing or anything but is an amount of money people would pragmatcally spend towards a car or home improvement projects. Not toys which is what this thread is ostensibly about
>>
>>64760567
Theyre not toys they're action figures. How do you feel about me getting the WLVRN and it basically doing everything in those possible scenarios? Does even owning just one gun make it a toy? Aren't we all larping?
>>
>>64760567
That's not really the situation at hand though, is it? OP isn't someone who's living paycheck to paycheck and is suddenly given a 10k lump sum, he's someone who's presumably got their life sorted out and has achieved a bump in their steady salary on top of that. If he was happy with his life and wasn't struggling to pay the bills 6 months ago then it's perfectly reasonable to spend some money a bit liberally now. If his car was fine before his pay went up, then there's no reason to suddenly buy a new one.

On the other hand, as someone whose salary has gone up by more than 10k per year for the last 10 years, OP, I implore you to put a sizeable portion of your newfound income toward some sensible investments. If you're expecting your salary to continue increasing then it's very easy to say to yourself something along the lines of "the 5, 10 or 15k I could afford to invest now won't really make a noticeable difference compared to my future earnings so I might as well spend it all", then you hit 30 and realize you've got an income of 200k but no real wealth to speak of.

Aren't they an oil producing nation?
>>
>>64760494
Its funny that while they are, they've had to import oil to make up for internal shortages. Such is life when you become communist.

isn't their oil shitty tier, heavy oil something like that

Yes but a lot of their problems are because they can't keep the infrastructure maintained. They kicked out oil corps and nationalized the industry but couldn't afford to keep it all going

Actually, fuck that 300blk Krink looks good. Since 300 only needs about an 8" barrel to get decent velocities, I might consider that. I want something short for innabuildings but even with a bullpup you need a 10+ inch barrel or it won't even clear the receiver.

Didn't even know that option existed ty for the unintentional suggestion.

I regret buying it, actually. I got the No.1 in .416 Rigby without realizing that's primarily a bolt action cartridge. I should have gotten a Ruger bolt gun or a CZ550 for the same money back then. Now those have been discontinued and the prices have gone insane. Or maybe a No.1 in a rimmed safari caliber. Although the No.1 isn't as slick as it looks. Inside the receiver is just rough cast metal.

Turns out I was wrong. idk where I read that Teddy liked peep sights, I know the one letter is about him buying a .22 with peep sights
https://www.theodorerooseveltcenter.org/digital-library/o293878/
it must have been for the Smithsonian African trip
I'll post the other version of the letter in the next post but, it turns out he always used what are basically express sights with a u notch in the bottom with a ramped front bead.
https://www.loc.gov/resource/mss38299.mss38299-363_0001_0271/?sp=106&r=0.447,0.157,0.595,0.233,0
in his autobiography he specifically mentions drawing a bead on things, including an injun. he also straight up couldn't shoot for shit. He even admits he was a piss poor long range shot due to his shit eyes. eyes so she he couldn't get peeps to work. Peeps must still be the most accurate because every shooting competition that allows peeps but doesn't allow a scope has everyone using peeps over open sights. I wonder if he would use a red dot today or if his eyes were so shit he's seethe about the starburst

It's been talked to death why space fighters are impractical but let's say the stupid rich dictator of the third world asteroid colony is dead set on having his fighter jets in space. What would a "realistic" space fighter look like? What do you have to consider about space as a medium?
>>
>>64760301
Not just being a jet plane in space for starters I guess.
Its a totally different environment, lack of gravity and needing to worry about radiating heat and the other rigors of the space environment.
>>
>>64760301
>fighters
Are actually very practical, especially as drones.
>>
>>64760301
>realistic "fighter"
A drone swarm control ship. The drones would have a bunch of missiles.
>designate targets
>upload to swarm
>GTFO and let drones do their thing
That's what space fighters are going to be. A human telling a prelaunched and standby drone swarm to wake up, lock onto something, and do their job. They don't even need to look like atmospheric drones. You can pack missiles, terminal guidance, and reaction thrusters in a cylinder and have it sitting there in sleep mode with either a RTG or solar backup to keep it awake enough to receive a signal for years. Just launch a few more every so often to account for natural attrition.
>but we want dogfights in space
Never going to happen. Individual fighter craft engaging each other is ridiculous at exoatmospheric distances. It's going to be Macross missile spam forever.
>>
>>64760503
Couldn't fighters just participate in the missile spam instead of dogfighting?
