> spiritus is overpriced slop and it's morally justified to get any clones of their gear. despite starting off as an airsoft gear company like ferro, spiritus' owner didn't stop being a manchild and isn't allowed to be the public face of the company for acting like a manchild when questioned about the quality of their gear and what justifies their cost
The really funny thing about these Instagram brands is how hard they lean into the "muh faceless elite tacticool operator" meme, despite nobody in the military ever using their stuff. It's almost 100% larpers and airsofters, and the actual tactical utility of their gear is basically unknown.

>despite nobody in the military ever using their stuff
There are definitely guys in the military using Spiritus stuff, but it's not like that gives Spiritus any sort of special street cred. There are guys using stuff from a bunch of different companies.

Spiritus has come up with a few interesting pieces of gear, but probably the most lucrative for them has been the concept behind selling $200 micro rigs piecemeal to clueless goobers to then shell out another $200-$250 for a Thing 2 and more pouches so the damn thing can carry more than a few mags, a buttplug and some Skittles.

Spiritus gear has never been issued. They've never won a single contract. Some guys can run their stuff privately, but SOCOM frowns heavily on that, and regular Army and USMC guys are rarely gear queers, so it's probably like a few dozen guys at most. lol
>>
>>62483314
No shit it's never been issued. You said nobody's using it when obviously guys are. Now you're saying "uhh it's probably just a few dozen guys." Maybe, I have no idea, and you don't either, so why are you so asspained about it?

opinions on the blackhawk RRV?
I think it's a good design, a better version of the tap, problem is the plate pocket which I dont really care about, and mine has the rear plate packet too but this makes it much hotter than with the normal straps, also for some reason the back panel isn't completely compatible with the main front so you have 2 random buckles flopping around after installing

What do plate bag mounted "dangler" pouches do that fanny packs don't also do but better?

I bought meme related on ebay, and also borrowed a friend's dangler pouch and found that while both bounced when I ran, the fanny pack seemed to not be as noticeable, plus it was significantly easier to access my HRT pills from it without needing to blindly finger it like the dangler pouch.

Not really complaining its just surprising to me that I found absolutely zero value in a dangler pouch compared to a fanny pack for the odd things that weren't important enough to put on my pc but too important to bury in my pack

I get you're trying to be hilarious but you're pretty retarded

figure out what you're using your pouches for before you consoommaxx
for example if you have stupid shit in a fanny pack, it would be worth considering keeping shit you would need on you when using your pc, or using it as a medkit (since you only use your IFAK for yourself having extra is good if you come across someone else)

things to think about while you're auditioning for the chapelle show or practising your stand up

Fanny pros:
>easier to access contents
>can be maneuvered around the body

Dangler pros:
>attached to PC, one less thing to don

Ultimately these differences won't make any difference for you once you kill yourself.

He means their gear has not been widely issued and no objective consensus can be reached with respect to its durability in a military environment. You could get the entire 75th Ranger Regiment to fill in a survey on the JPC and get good data on what most Rangers like about the plate carrier, what wears out, how long it lasts, what could be improved.

Some fat redditor who owns a limited edition desert tiger stripe Spiritus LV119 can easily make a lengthy post about how he’s owned a LV119 for 5 years and thinks it’s the best plate carrier ever while it sits on a hanger in his bedroom next to his funkopop collection.

There isn’t a sufficient sample size of Spiritus plate carriers subjected to similar stressors over a measurable period of time like the JPC or IOTV.

Best handheld flash light?
>>
Does anyone have experience with SafeGuard vests? They seem to be pretty reasonably priced for what they are.
>>
>>62488626
Not sure about "best." Some people swear by the Surefire G2X series. Streamlight has a pretty good variety of handhelds. I carry a Cloud Defensive MCH-HC that I got at a good discount and I like it quite a bit.

My brother recently picked up a few 18650 lights off AliExpress that have a good reputation over on r/flashlights (yes, reddit, I know) and we went out and tested them recently, and I was blown away by how well some of them performed. For like $15-$20, a couple of them compared very well with my Cloud light. Not sure how well they'd do in drop tests and water immersion tests, but for $20 they're cheap enough that you could buy 5 of the damn things for the price of a Surefire. I'm considering grabbing a few just to toss in drawers around the house for power outages.

Are soft body armors/icw systems worth considering? I'm looking at the safe life defense hyperline and a super thin IIIa with better coverage than a plate and the ability to up-armor to a level 4 seems pretty damn ideal for concealed wear.
>>
>>62493648
> safe life defense hyperline
Overpriced and not good. I wouldn't pay $600 for that, let alone $1100.
You can get decent surplus soft armor on eBay for $200.

>>62494142
If its in good shape and your size sure. Its a decent low viz carrier. Its not an overt tactical carrier with molle to attach pouches, its meant to have LBE like a chest rig or belt kit worn over it. You can get balcs soft armor panels from midwest and highcom. If you are decent at sewing you can sew up plate pockets inside the zippered section and turn it into a full armor carrier like they did in Iraq.

The seller included zero information. My guess is no? I suppose the big expense is not the carrier but the soft plates.

Pretty much. It's inspired by the attached "no excuses" guide and focuses on just getting you basic capabilities if you're seriously dead broke. Example being that a Raytheon PALM IR 250 is relatively affordable and gets you in the thermal game really well. A Pulsar N550 is often dirt cheap on Ebay, and is nowhere near comparable to an analog NV sight, but it's a hell of a lot better than a flashlight in force-on-force situations. The meat and potatoes of the guide is the NVG30 monocular. R*dditors are running it with some degree of success, but it's again not comparable to analog. There are aftermarket lenses for it which greatly enhance field of view.
>>
Attached is the improved "no excuses" guide. Additions include additional shotgun ammo options, since it was missing slugs and budget buck options, and a revised /gq/ armor section. RMA 1155 got the boot, Italian plates got the boot, both were replaced by the Hesco L211 and Highcom 4SAS7. Hesco 4403 remains with clarification on the NIJ suspension on previous models.

What is the story for these phantom BDU coat sizes like extra short that don't show up in sizing, or in modern produced examples?
Large regular is too long, so I was going to order a large short, since it was like an inch shorter in the sleeve, but then I saw the extra short. I was assuming the short was just keeping in line with just adjusting the sleeve length, but I'm not completely sure. I ended up buying the large extra short since I'd like to have the cuff actually behind my wrist for once.
>>
>>62505633
The guide advises $230-250 for the L211. Midwest is selling them by the pair for $476 ($238 a piece not counting shipping), with a 3-4 week shipping time due to delays. They sell the 4403 for $410 a set ($205 per). I'd advise shopping around regardless. Midwest has a lot of slow shipping stories - which aren't entirely their fault due to Hesco prioritizing contracts.

Dying is way better. You just need to get the color and dying formula you want to make sure it turns out the shade you want. Some of our stuff turned out somewhat bright, some more dark. It all depends on how you dyed it.

I had that experience once with it and it was due to not allowing it to cure completely. It didn't "rub off" necessarily, but it was very powdery and would come off on my hands just from handling. Now I just leave it alone for a few days after spraying and haven't had an issue with it.

Why are drones like picrel not more common on /k/ or /gq/ in particular? A skilled pilot with a 2” prop drone can fly inside a window and check every room in a house quickly and easily. I routinely use mine for exploring abandoned infrastructure and it seems like it’d be a more common hobby amongst gun enthusiasts. I often see people on /k/ who train/buy gear for breaching of all things, but imagine how much safer that would be just by having a drone operator watching the room that someone is breaching, making sure that there’s nobody sitting there with a gun.

Most of /k/ is no guns. Then half of guns is FOTM and or KAC that someone else built. Then half of that is DIY. Then half of that is capable of putting together drones that aren't DJI. Feel free to do the math yourself.
>>
>>62517239
Building your own has a learning curve, mostly because of software, but you can buy everything pre-assembled. The pic I posted before is 170 dollars for the analog version. You can buy a 100 dollar fat shark analog goggle and a 70 dollar radiomaster ELRS controller, bind them, and be flying in just a few minutes.

It's been tested by those better than I and it came out as the most effective plate you can get at a big box store. You need two layers for it to be near actual ceramic plates. Two plates is 15mm thickness. Add the fiberglass and it ends up being real thick.

It's a giant cube of a pack which when filled will fold your spine in half somewhere around your lower thoracic vertebrae as the pack itself is too short for human beings and the centre of gravity is far too high and creates a fulcrum point where the weight and the pack pulls backwards away from you while you're leaning forward. Unless you're 5'5" any ALICE design will completely destroy your back and you should buy a long thin pack instead.

Didn't know 5'5 was the exact number... Biggest issue I see with these is the kidney belt, which doesn't even get run by mil guys bc they worried it'll crush their kidneys or something. Furthermore, they get sausage fingers from crushing their shoulders with the straps and cutting off circulation

>>
>>62521066
>90-120lbs
Please double check your math. Regular Alice packs can barely hold half that weight by design. You're essentially asking for a purpose built hunting pack designed to move a kill out of the bush. And I'd guarantee you've never put that much on your back and tried to move. Very few packs are designed for that kind of weight, and furthermore, the human body.

I remember seeing that video. It was a while ago, but I remember being weirded out by some of his claims and assumptions, even as someone who's never done done shit. Like, he watches the clip and just starts talking like he was there and had intimate knowledge of the training exercise.

Also, I think the Grunt Proof guy makes some decent videos here and there, but yeah he's not some sort of big brain dude. I saw a video where he attached a QD cummerbund to the plate bags backwards and made a comment about how it was weird that you had to unhook from the back...

>>
>>62535116
The Spiritus upgrade kit is pretty on-point price wise considering it's a mix of other Spiritus products. Arguably Spiritus stuff is pricey compared to some other similar products.

Anyway, point is, people complain about the TRAAP being $225 because an unissued surplus TAP is $50, but they forget that the reason it's so cheap in the first place is because it's surplus.

Haley charges $175 for a rig that's just a few rifle mag slots, a couple pistol pouches, a small GP pouch and a shitty X-harness. The Velocity Mayflower (or gen 4 or whatever they call it now) is $209. The T3 Spear rig is $215. So, I think the TRAAP is pretty in line with other companies' prices for what it is.

anyone tried the beyond alpha A5 jacket? seems cool

what are some good out pants
>>
>>62536709
I have never molle'd a pouch onto a rucksack, ever. There is not a single pack in existence that is made better with molle pouches hanging off the outside. Built in pouches that stay within the "factory" silhouette are far superior. As mentioned above in this thread a tall and skinny pack is by far the best solution for everyone.

The one exception in my mind is HPG rucks like the quiya and decker where they have skinny long and wide panels that strap onto the "front"

Fucking hell just buy whatever. Buy surplus OCPs or whatever you can find. Shit does not matter. I don't even know what you tards are doing in your pants but they WILL get destroyed. Spend the least money possible, get the waist one size up. Vertx pants off ebay are perfect just go one size up in the waist
>>
>>62537056
>a tall and skinny pack is by far the best solution for everyone.
why?

for example currently I decided to consolidate on the granite gear chief pack because it's the most comfortable I've ever worn my a good margin, so I'm selecting it mainly for its load bearing ability, the bag design is ok, the opening in the main bag is good so you don't have to pull everything out, what I don't like are the side pockets, made for bladders, because they're too narrow and with a full pack you cant put shit in nor pull it out, the lid is decent but too small and not floating, with that said the bag design is good enough, I put my main shit in the main bag (lvl7, sleep system, dry bag with spare clothes), helmet under the lid, and then I got 2 sustainment pouches on the sides for food, water, gas can, stove, and go pouch on the center back for accessing other stuff like a puffy jacket, gloves , nvg, batteries, medkit etc, and the lid is the same as the gp pouch, in a military/preparedness context (although idk why you'd ruck miles with a heavy pack in shtf but whatever) you'd also add other gear into those pouches such as MG ammo, spare mags, frags etc

Larping at the flat range or playing airsoft. I don't know why guys think they need $300 pants for this.

As far as "I need combat pants for SHTF" goes, I don't think the average /k/ommando will have time to race home from the local gloryhole to change out of their jorts and into their combat pants when they see the Chinese paratroopers in the sky. The shooting will start before they get home and they'll be fighting in whatever they wear in everyday life.

im in the EU, so if you're in the schengen area you're fine with customs, I can sell on Ebay, vinted, or straight up PayPal, vinted has around the same fees as PP but has cheaper shipping, so if you're in country that my vinted ships to (vinted divides Europe in some sub zones so you can't ship everywhere idk why) you can buy it there, otherwise PayPal business payment.

anyone got opinions on the kuiu merino base shirts?

I didn't say it *was* the Caiman, just that the materials and features of the helmet are extremely similar to the Caiman. It pretty much seems to be a low cut version of the Caiman (which only comes high cut, to my knowledge).

solid colors Vs camo

how much of a difference does it make?
solid colors make you look less autistic if you care about it, and for le prepared citizen if you're going out with gun and overt kit it doesn't really matter if you're camo or not.
so aside from aesthetics and market availability is there any point in going solid colors vs camo patterns?

jokes on you I just go out in full camo and look autistic as shit but in reality no one cares, I mainly go in places where theres not many people but sometimes I do, or theres a refuge so up to that point theres ppl then not anymore, anyway I open carry a knife and am full camo and no one really cares, they even come and talk bc they're curious about your gorilla nigger ruck and ask where you're headed or ask abt my wrist GPS and how it works etc so they're cool really

Here's my take as a caveman brained gub gub snail man who's never done anything cool: camo only matters if you're in a rural area and don't want to be noticed.

People living in an urban or suburban area are going to look goofy as fuck running around in camo if le SHTF happens. You're going to need the trashman ghillie suit to blend in with those environments.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msk9IaMnXA0

Solid colors are fine as long as it's not black. Solid colors start attaining their own "camo" anyway if you go out and use the stuff and don't treat your gear like it's a high end suit that you're trying to keep spotless. Get that shit dirty and never wash it.

Besides, at the end of the day, if you really want to, you can use spray paint on solid colors and make whatever "camo pattern" you want.

So I've been looking at getting a chest rig, is there actually a difference between:
THe Onward Research RECCE rig
https://onwardresearch.com/recce-rig/

and the Kommando Store Pattern 84:
https://kommandostore.com/collections/kommandostore-exclusives-custom-productions/products/pattern-84-chest-rig-version-2-0

Yeah there are some materials differences, but otherwise it seems like..... the same rig. So does anyone thing it is worth the extra $110 to get the kommando rig?
>>
What seasons is it appropriate to wear a Gorka Suit? The seem too thick for summer, but too thin for winter.
>>
>>62543099
winter and autumn, just wear a base layer underneath, just know that compared to modern garments and textile the gorka is obsolete, if you're in snowy cold you can wear lvl5 type clothing, they'll be more water resistant and lighter, stretchier, dry quicker, but the gorka got style for sure, and despite being less advanced than these more modern ones it's still ok and very durable, I got one in partizan

You should wax them and then layer them for winter/colder weather use. They were simply a big camo potato sack so you wouldnt tear up less durable insulating layers.
In summer they are sort of retarded.
>>
>>62543127

idk but the design is good

what camo would you use for this environment? it's like this up to a point then it's just rocks, and now summer has just eneded so it's greener, later with cold it gets more brown, and then snow.

on top of that, if you had to choose a solid color instead of camo what would you choose?
>>
>>62543546
forgot pic
>>
>>62543546
ranger green would get too dark and stand out but maybe you could look like a Bush agaisnt the grass, coyote is lighter and if it gets darker due to the shades itd still be good, and it blends with the background grass

idk, but animals are brown or brown grey not green so they might be onto something
>>
>>62543577
plus even in the woods the ground will be brown dead fall against brown trunks, plus some green bushes and tree leaves

Does it look like that year round? Looks like it might get brown in the summer.
Ranger green would not be too dark imo

>>62543577
Animals are brown generally because they don't see greens. Generally speaking, animals are only colors that their predators don't see well in contrast to the environment; dogs and big cats don't see greens or blues,, so brown is energetically cheap to blend in with.
So the ideal camo pattern for this would be miami tigerstripe.
