XCR has the better charging handle and bolt catch out of the 3
You'll quickly adapt to left side charging and not look back

Interesting, thanks anon. Going to find videos of it to see how it works. What makes them better?

Since I'm getting a 5.56 and not going to use a scope I'm fine with having to reach over but it's still not ideal imo.

Charging handle has a forward assist if needed for press checks or quiet loading. It's very similar to Israeli style FAL
Push down to drop bolt, up to lock it
>>
>>62899721
I was just watching a video, I actually really like that a lot. In most situations I won't be using the charging handle anyways so it not being ambi isn't a huge deal. I have to look at some Bren 2 reviews but definitely leaning towards the XCR and maybe a Bren 2 in the future.
>>
>>62899731
Bren 3 should be here next year
Supposed to be CHF and have some other improvements. Still has the inside the trigger guard bolt catch that I'm not a huge fan of

Should I buy him the overwhites?

Oh sweet. My retarded ass didn't know the 3 was a thing. That bolt catch does look kinda goofy. I'm looking to get the first rifle mid next year (maybe sooner) and probably the 2nd one late next year. Debating if I'm getting an AP5 before the rifle though. I think the AP5 will be more fun.

What do you think about the different barrel lengths offered? Seems like the XCR is 12 and the Bren is 11, then the Bren has a 14.5 and both have a 16. I'll probably have to brace them for an indeterminate amount of time though form 1s are pretty quick and I've done one before so I'm not against them.

Or maybe I'll just keep the XCR or Bren full length and SBR my AR15 for HD.

I'd suggest a 12" 'pistol,' it's my go-to for most innawoods stuff. Super handy
It gives you flexibility to use any of the barrels (ex. Blackout) without doing SBR paperwork, and the brace isn't horrible. Most 12" conversions you have enough velocity for commercially available expanding bullets to still be effective. There's a guy on the forum that takes deer all the time with his 12" 6.5g
To go blackout you would need the shorter gas tube and oprod, but that stuff just falls right out when your pull the barrel

Thanks anon, are you able to collapse the braces? I think the XCR uses the fixed version so they can put on the foregrip but I'd like to just not use a foregrip.

I asked about accu strut last time and people generally said it would help. Trueshot is half the price so idk if it will work as well. It’s also aluminum but maybe that makes it a better heat sink so I can keep firing without overheat . I bought it anyways.
>>
>He bought it despite being told otherwise
A classic move, this is why all the sane /hg/ posters stopped helping him a long time ago. He's just going to buy whatever pistol or rifle he pleases and shit up the general.
>>
>>62900167
It can be collapsed like 6-9" or so
Shorter than the stock due to ATF LOP limitations, but still usable
It has about an inch of vertical adjustment as well
>>
>>62899721
Bren's CH works as a forward assist, too.
>>62899741
Bren 2 has CHF barrel. The 3 has several other changes (stock/handguard primarily), and keeps the CHF barrel. The bolt controls inside the trigger guard aren't as good as, say, the XCR bolt controls but are easily modded ($25) to be the exact same as the XCR controls (wings riding outside the trigger guard).

Both are great rifles, you really can't go wrong.
>>
>>62900265
You mean the mini? I really wanted a classic looking rifle and how else was I going to get a near perfect mini for 700$.
Also I need a 223 rifle

If you mean the trueshot, they said the accustrut would work so hopefully a knockoff does too

The Winchester is a historic self loading rifle in good shape and the mini I got is in excellent condition. I wanted to know if a substitute brace would work and nobody answered so I yoloed

Also you said the same thing about my guns and I did gunsmithing to fix them and shared the hacks with others so sneed
>>
>>62900463
Stupid faggot, you don’t even know how to fix your handguns. Fuck off.
>>
>>62900315
Could you clarify what you mean about the LOP stuff? From what I understand:
>Gun is SBR
Overall and barrel length irrelevant, can use foregrip
>Brace
Overall (sounds like you're saying it's relevant) and barrel length irrelevant, no foregrip
>Brace but overall length is min 26", see XCR website
>Stock
Overall length min 26" (I think) and barrel at least 16"

I've not really got anything lower than 26" so my knowledge is limited here.

>>62900363
This is great info, thanks anon. I asked a friend about the XCR and he said it sucks. He has one of those really expensive remake ACRs though so I think it was coming from a place of cope.

>>62900430
He will just turn around and claim he has autism so he fits in because it's called the autism rifle general. I fled that general to be away from him and the other gays and weed addicts and unfortunately now is when he decides to post here. Or maybe he's been tormenting you guys for a while, idk.
>>
>>62900427
Everyone said it was a bad idea, especially the dogshit half price one. If everyone’s saying it’s unlikely to work well and to just enjoy the mini 14 for what it is, why the fuck would you then go and buy the cheap shittier version of the product you wanted?
>>
>>62900463
If it’s in excellent condition why the fuck would you get the brace?
>>
Man my buffer tube being slightly clocked is gonna drive me crazy but I already staked it and added loctite for good measure on top of proper torque spec, so now I just gotta live with it unless I feel like replacing the castle nut and end plate reeeee

I cured PPK magazine dropsy. And I’ll keep fixing old guns and sharing what I learned.
>>62900513
Maybe you shouldn’t be so thin skinned? I need a rifle, I need to ask some questions and I’ll be gone then. Rifles aren’t my focus.
>>62900532
Pre tapered barrel mini have pencil thin barrels. They whip around and also overheat. A brace makes the barrel more rigid and acts as a heat sink

Newer ruger mini have reinforced barrels so more rigid. Excellent condition won’t cure an early mini of its design defects.
>>62900526
They didn’t. You all just said nothing or said not to try and fix the accuracy but people already said the accustrut it would work.
You should have told me the knockoff wouldn’t work.

Should I cancel or just let it arrive and then test and document if it works? If people already know they suck then there’s not a point in testing though.

Oh my god dude no one cares. Fuck OFF with your troon shit.
>>
>>62900663
I assume your concern is loss of accuracy with the barrel heat. If so, consider that barrels are generally less accurate when there’s more shit touching them. So no this more than likely wouldn’t solve anything, if not make the issues worse. If you were planning on sustained fire you should’ve gone with a thicker barrel profile, like buying a newer mini as you mentioned. My advice? Just deal with it. It’s a mini, you won’t be grouping near an AR and that’s fine
>>
>>62900672
It was like a 300$ difference between a near perfect old mini and a numini… I took the cheap option.
I actually only have a 308 rifle and a Winchester so I really wanted a good looking 223 platform to train with
>>62900671
Nobody cares about your fantasies
>>
>>62900670
>>62900671
Why you hating dawg? Those guns look fun to me
>>
>>62900684
So you don’t have an AR yet you post here…
Anyway you would’ve have been much happier eating the cost and buying the newer mini. They’re still not very accurate but new and old will be accurate enough ranch rifles to do whatever you need. Again if you wanted sustained fire, a Mini was a bad choice all around. If you wanted good ergonomics and good aftermarket, a mini was a bad choice. Again my advice would be to cancel whatever bullshit you’re buying that’s just going to make the rifle worse and accept it as is. Or sell it and get an accurate rifle
>>
>>62900686
They’re not as cool as you think they are evidently aren’t ARs so this isn’t the place to ask about them. Also you seem to be having massive issues with this coolest thing ever
>>
>>62900692
I’m buying a mini. How is that not relevant?
>>
>>62900700
I'm not that anon you massive retard, lmao
>>
>>62900701
A mini-14 is not an AR. Anyway you’re buying? Don’t buy the mini, the problems with accuracy are inherent to it. However if you did want it, get a new one with a reinforced barrel. Buy once cry once
>>
>>62900692
Thank you though.
DESU looks are the most important thing. I wanted something that looked cool. And that’s what counts when it comes to motivation for practice.
>>
faggots
>>
>>62900710
Well then you’re just going to suffer through it. Nothing short of a new barrel will fix the issues that barrel profile has. So use it and get good. Or sell it and get an accurate rifle
>>
>>62900710
>looks motivation for practice
Cracked the code desu, most people don't get it
>>
>>62900707
>>62900714
I mean, I bought it already it just hasn’t arrived https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1072826568
It seemed like a very handsome rifle and was cheap by mini standards so if it doesn’t suck I’ll be happy. It’s not like this is stalker and weak equipment will get me killed.
>>
>>62900721
If you haven’t even gotten the rifle why the fuck are you buying a brace for it? You realize how immensely stupid that is right? Just shoot the fuckin thing when it arrives and be glad and fuck off
>>
>>62900725
I get anticipation…
I bought a PPK and Immediately ordered magazines and holsters and spare parts.
>>
>>62900730
This isn’t buying spare mags though, this is you buying a fake solution for a problem that doesn’t exist. That’s retarded. Just shoot the thing and be happy when it gets here. Please go back to /hg/
>>
>>62900733
okay… well thanks?
I’ll update when it arrives and there’s actually something to do.
