Not as short as le MK18, but still very maneuverable. Not as long as a 14.5" but still with a good mount of velocity, and much better than a 10.3"-11.5".The real problem is 12.5" can be finnicky with suppressors depending on gas length, gas port size and your buffer weight and spring configuration. A lot of 12.5" middies are over-gassed (Sionics and Triarc got their gassing right), the intermediate gas lengths can be hit and miss (Rosco's is over-gassed, BRT's is well gassed), and carbine length gas ports are all over the place. Personally I think the Sionics and BRT barrels are the best options.

If you run an aperture on the front of your NVD you can get some improvement on 1x by closing the aperture (this is not the same as adjusting focus). The 4x looks fantastic.Since nods already have relatively poor detection, inability to contrast well, etc having the 4x is a great way to get a better look at something while under nods if you so choose for whatever reason. Ambient lighting is obviously going to play a significant role here but it's definitely usable and looks a lot better than the 1x. Damn since I replaced the 3-prong on my 10.5" with the strela it's now heavier than my 16" rifle with the 3-prong, 8.6 lbs loaded vs the latter's 8.4.
