It seems small and unimportant but once you start meeting these emotions with care and safety, and you practice that every day, even the days you feel good; you eventually stop externalising all your worth. It's a long road to recovery. And you will need to practice these things deliberately probably for the rest of your life (that's where I'm at at the moment) but over time the 0-100 freak out stuff and the painful attachment stuff goes away and your world will get a lot bigger.
