>>24740121>what muslims should have done back then, instead of doing profit seeking raids, was unite and conquer europe the right way, enslaving resistors and bringing the europeans under dhimmitude>>24740133>you're indoctrinatedEvil freak. God rejects your hate filled heart.
>>24740137you're exaggerating a bit, but this is true in principle. a church cannot be higher than a mosque for example. there's this huge unsightly hindu demon statue in malaysia which should be just demolished. dhimmitude serves to curb this. though cathedrals are much prettier, at least western ones.the idea is that christians live under muslims, and so are not equals, but lesser. they reject the truth so deserve to be limited in their freedom. but then again, many "heretic" christians and jews choose to live under muslim occupation since the alternative would be christian intolerance. this was the middle ages/early modern period mind you.
>>24740160>many "heretic" christians and jews choose to live under muslim occupation since the alternative would be christian intoleranceYeah and look at those losers now.
>>24740165most copts converted gradually. occasionally they experience violence, but so do muslims living in the west. palestinian christians are being slaughtered by israel and syrian christian suffer(just like every other syrian demographic) due to the instability caused by the west and israel. at least they survived. spanish muslims were not spared.
>>24740184> Syrian christian suffer(just like every other syrian demographic) due to the instability caused by the west and israelAt what point do muslims man up and admit Either Allah hates them or loves jews? Why would Allah allow such victory to the Jews all the time unless they were favored? Muslims kicked all the Jews out and magically, Yemen, Iraq, Syria, Algeria etc are not bastions of peace and beacons of knowledge. If you want converts that aren't mentally ill queer leftists surely leading by example is the way.
well that sucked
>>24739771I'd like to know why. I hated the Novelist, so I'm not surprised.
>>24739818There’s barely a plot or characters. The prose is fine. The closest it comes to being good are in the moments of social commentary but they don’t last long or go anywhere. 260 pages of oddly homoerotic “meh” I kept hoping would amount to something.
>>24739860Damn, that sounds almost exactly like my experience with the Novelist, minus the homoeroticism. A few interesting ideas that only come through in what are effectively monologues. I think his point in that novel was about some kind of generational distractedness and self-obsession, but he didn't do it well; it only felt like a description, and not a particularly insightful one.You read anything contemporary that's actually good? Did you glean much in terms of intent from Muscle Man? because I'd like to see someone do a better job with simialr ideas.
>>24739951Honestly, given what I know of The Novelist that seems more understandable/ excusable. I guess this might maybe constitute a commentary on modern academia and masculinity? It’s a big maybe. In terms of recent stuff I’ve read and liked, I confess I do a lot of genre reading, but How I Won A Nobel Prize was the better book in a vaguely similar vein. I did also quite enjoy Colum McCann’s most recent book Twist.
Behold, the logical conclusion of secular philosophy.
>In nearly every country, historical era, religion, civilization, and culture, agony has been deemed a crucial aspect of our existence. We don’t lack for studies of death: for the Christian West, I recommend the work of Philippe Ariès. Whether you believe in the existence of a creator who will call you to account or not, this is the moment of farewell—a last chance to see certain people, to tell them what you may never have said before, and to hear what they may have to say to you. To cut short these death throes is both impious (for those who believe) and immoral (for anyone). This is the consensus of the civilizations, religions, and cultures that have gone before us, and this is what so-called progressivism is preparing to destroy.
If only Charlie Kirk was alive to see this ;_;

What was the first book you read that made you interested in reading?
>>24740246I had this exact book around age 4. I knew how to read some simple picture books, but definitely didn’t have enough to get through this. I distinctly remember sperging out at daycare pretending to read this book, laughing at random passages and flipping around. The counselor came over and asked what was so funny and I didn’t know how to respond so I just pointed to a random passage and then slammed the book shut. Never actually did get around to reading it.
Is there really any difference between spending 2 hours reading a great book vs 2 hours reading a shit book vs 2 hours watching a movie vs 2 hours watching TV vs 2 hours scrolling? Any way you're just killing time, not really accomplishing anything.

Any writers out there who have near human like dialogue and prose? I recently noticed that due to my experience on this site and in real life a lot of my dialogue is connected rhetorically. (Speech and debate has been a great way to learn new and significant aspects of different subjects for me. So I'm not entirely surprised it's affected my writing methodology).I'd like to see if there are specific writers who have a focus on brevity and clear concise speech as well. I want to see what similarities, differences and lessons I can learn from there styles compared to my own.(Also, I added the Antony pic simply because I found that passage of Shakespeare's to have been one of the most intriguing speeches I've ever read in fiction. So I thought the scene may have had some reference as to what I'm discussing about here).
Brautigan would probably be good for your needs, and he shows how to use it effectively. In Watermelon Sugar and Sombrero Fallout are probably best for you needs.Minimalists in general are probably what you are looking to study and they do a great job of show that it is not things being real that is important but things feeling real; the emotion is the only part that is real.
I spent many years writing highly formal and technical material, books and articles, for business and technology. It sounds nothing like how I sound in real life. It has polished my spelling and grammar, and it has given me an appreciation for the craft of writing. In spoken word, I have a thick Southern drawl which people up North sometimes were not able to understand when I lived in worked in the capital city of the USA.Also gave speeches to crowds up there, mostly only the subject of revolt, which were actually well received. They were applauded and people approached me about them, even turned away a journalist so others could speak. Would you believe me? It wouldn't offend me if you didn't, but this actually happened. Physically walked from the ghetto in a full black suit with speeches scribbled on folded paper in my pocket, delivered speeches to massive crowds, marching and protesting.I wrote so many words a day that when I got canned for opposing zionist genocide I just kept writing and writing, mostly for free on 4chan, earning a living by hard labor. My 4chan "speeches" blended into real life as I ran into federal informants who quoted my posts at me in person. Again, it wouldn't offend me if you didn't believe me, but this actually happened. They even knew what books I was reading, like Fry the Brain by John West. They would brag about it, knowing my online activities.Life became like a dark and ghetto version of the Truman Show, under active investigation for anti-government activities. Now I live in complete isolation, with the exception of talking to a single woman who I will not write about here. But yes, this website has blended into my real life. Sometimes I use it just to vent, or to send messages to feds and such. I have to filter out the perverts and racists to seek an intellectual discussion. This board probably has the highest level of writing and discourse of the whole site as the focus is writing itself.Clear and simple language? Pretty much all of American literature is like this. Descriptive and journalistic. America is known for this style, and this is an American website. Some French authors are like this. Camus, for example. The American style is basically no-bullshit and full of motion and action. It lacks pretension. It is all about the present moment. It's not like the old country with its old buildings and long-evolved scenes and ways. The American style is all go without the show, little frill and lots of thrill.
>>24738694>Any writers out there who have near human like dialogue and prose?try recording people to text sometimes, actual conversations sound bizarre and boring sometimes.

It's time for the weekly stack accountability thread! Post last week's stack, this week's stack, and share your progress. The regular stack thread is mostly just people showing off how much stuff they bought. This thread is about being accountable and actually reading.I finished up the last 300 pages of Burton's Wanderings in West Africa. Andrew Robinson's Lost Languages, a book about deciphering lost writing systems, finally came in at the library so it moved to the top of my stack. 70 pages in it's fascinating stuff. I also read 60 pages of Antiques Magpie. It's pretty much just an assortment of factoids and anecdotes about antiques, kind of like what a Reader's Digest overview of antiques would be like. It's not particularly good, but it's decent to pick up when you only have a couple minutes.

I have read almost all of the relevant texts of Vedantic metaphysics and ethics and many of the most relevant texts from the other schools of Hinduism. All of the books that I read fail to address the necessity of grace. The weakness of mankind refutes Hinduism.>This is what I told you in the beginning, that it is in our power either to sin or not to sin, and to stretch out our hand to either good or evil, in order that free will may be preserved; but this is because of the manner and time and condition of human weakness. I also said that the perpetuity of sinlessness is reserved for God alone and for Him, who, as the Word made flesh, was not subject to sin and the defects of the flesh. But just because I can avoid sin briefly does not mean that I can do it continually. I can fast, pray, walk, read, sing, sit, sleep; but can I do these things continually?
>>24736536>*discussion and debate of high level concepts*>uh... you're a schizo>*displaying a high level of technical knowledge*>uh... you're an autistTired of your anti-intellectual nonsense to be honest. Go scroll tiktok or something. If there was a minimum word count this nonsense would get filtered. If it was only text there would be no obscene imagery. If there was a profanity filter you'd have to write something meaningful and polite. It would be pure, intellectual discussion. Sounds nice, doesn't it? Would be nice to sit and read.As for Hinduism, you'd expect me to be hostile about it as a Muslim. Yet honestly I grieve over conflicts between Muslims and Hindus. There are some who interpret it as Monotheism, an all permeating force, I can see that.

>>24736418This supposes that sin exists at all. Even if it does, it is a different issue to say that sin is so pervasive as to be unavoidable. I think he has convinced himself that many benign thoughts and actions are sin.
