Finished Fight Club last night. It was a pretty fun book.

>>24742184Yeah it's quite the entertaining page-turner. I think I finished it in two sittings, which is no small feat on Palahniuk's part.

>>24740680>It's a polite way of saying authoritarianism and tyranny. No it's not. Those are both totally different concepts and have nothing to do with government-sanctioned and regulated private ownership of land and means of production. There's archaeological evidence of hunter-gatherers defending territory with violence for tens of thousands of years. The idea that there's some kind of alternate reality where you can just blissfully enjoy the sand on a beach with no risk of driving you off with threat of violence is absurdly childish. What a stupid post.

Sorcery, Wizardry, Witchcraft, Psionics, and General Magic and Powers EditionFAQ:>What is worldbuilding?Worldbuilding is the process of creating entire fictional worlds from scratch, all while considering the logistics of these worlds to make them as believable as possible. Worldbuilding asks questions about the setting of a world, and then answers them, often in great detail. Most people use it as a means of creating a setting or the scenery for a story.>"Isn't there a Worldbuilding general in >>>/tg/ already?"Yes, there is. However, that general is focused on the creation of fictional worlds for the intended purpose of playing TTRPG campaigns. Here you can discuss worldbuilding projects that are not meant to be used for a roleplaying setting, but for novels, videogames, or any other kind of creative project.>"Can I discuss the setting of my campaign here, though?"If you want to, but it would probably be better to discuss it on >>>/tg/ . We don't allow the discussion of TTRPG mechanics, however. If you want to discuss stats or which D&D edition is best, this is not the place.>"Can I talk about an existing fictional setting that is not mine?"Yes, of course you can!>"Does worldbuilding need to be about fantasy and elves?"Worldbuilding, as already stated above, and contrary to what many believe, does not inherently imply blatantly copying Tolkien. In fact, there are many science-fiction setting out there, and even entire alternative history settings which do not possess supernatural elements at all. Any kind of science fiction book has an implied setting at least, which involves a certain degree of worldbuilding put into it.Old thread: >>24567943
>>24739234>LitRPG Why?
>>24739973No, you don't unlock it by worshipping the god, but rather the opposite. If you unlock the skill tree you are expected to worship the related god and be part of the religion. You can choose not to, but the other religions might not let you do that. But thinking on it more, I guess I'm not that invested in writing a mainly religious conflict.>>24741502Why not? >>24742127>>some if not most women like men older than themselvesIf you are in college in middle age you are a deadbeat. When people say women like an older man, they mean someone who has there shit together, who has a respectable job, money, confident personality, not a manchild still stuck in a high school mentality while his hairs are turning grey.>>taking basic care of yourself and showing a little competence puts you above any other kid fresh out of highschoolYou are the absolute nadir of the social hierarchy at college. The difference between you and the stoner bum kid is that the stoner kid still has a chance to turn his life around whereas you have already proven yourself a failure.
>>24742102You gotta pick your demographicDon’t bother with the 18 year oldsGo for the masters students and the late starters in their 20s.
>>24740112College is a degree printing service, you can't get that by reading on your own.
>>24740441In what circumstance will Dr. YouTube get the opportunity to do 100 surgeries? More to the point, in medical school there are a hundred smaller steps in between pure medical study and actually operating on flesh and blood, let alone a living person. You know for a fact that someone being put through medical school will do those steps before anyone thinks of handing them a scalpel, how can you have any confidence in Dr. Youtube to have any real world experience prior to his first major operation?
I’m going to explain this because people seem to not understand what function college was always meant to serve. First you have to understand that in Western culture there is no hard and rigid caste system and your social standing is related most closely to what you do than anything else. Deed is the primary way that someone finds themselves with high social status. This is how an alcoholic loser like Ulysses S. Grant is suddenly able to find himself among the upper crust of American society and ruling over post-war ruins either the business and legal elite. He won the battles. Another way to achieve deed is with entrepreneurial ventures, to establish organizations and build wealth. Great artists and writers also can propel themselves to the upper class regardless of their education by gaining fame and notoriety for their work. These are all deeds. But there has to be a sorting mechanism for when deeds aren’t realistically achievable because after all there aren’t always battles to be won or fortunes to be made. Then people just depend on social class. This is about connections, resources, fame, demeanor, all of these. And since we don’t have a rigid caste system we allow college as a means for people to entrench their position within a social stratum or climb into a higher stratum. It’s a ticket of admission to apply for entrance into a class. It doesn’t matter if you were born into the middle or working class, by getting a law degree from Yale you effectively buy a chance to audition for the sort of profession that makes you upper class. That’s what college is for. It’s a chance to get an admissions ticket into a social stratum of society. A Harvard educated Senator is just of a higher status than a boilermaker. This isn’t a secret. However, because we love liberality and flexibility, we allow the son of a boilermaker to become a Harvard educated Senator. How? Well, the boilermaker doesn’t have the ability to do it so we have the son go off to college and hobsnob with families and teachers who can. And that’s how he gets his chance to join that upper stratum of society, assuming he is smart and sociable.

Behold, the logical conclusion of secular philosophy.
>>24738180Vegans are trash garbage.
>>24740279China grew into suffocating overpopulation while already under militant, enforced atheism. Shit follows standards of living, and doesn't care one bit about religion. Wealthier have lower birth levels and higher suicide levels, impoverished shitholes have high birth levels and low suicide levels. Those two correlate with religion only as far as increased standards of living and education adamantly cause drops in religiosity.
>>24741765>impoverished shitholes have high birth levelsIndia, Ukraine, Russia, Albania, Turkey etc. are all below replacement.
>>24738176It's perfect for you OP.
>>24738176no, that's leftist ideology/philosophy, as their central theme always comes down to prevention of suffering which naturally leads to a rejection of life. Ironically that is downstream from christian thought.Secular philosophy can be life affirming more than any religion, see Nietzsche

I've come up with a new philosophical system, or more accurately, I've come up with a foolproof test to see if your "philosophy" stands up to scrutiny. It is called the Large Rock Test (TM patent pending). How it works is, you present me with some philosophical diatribe. I then hit you with a large rock and you tell me if your philosophy bullshit helped you avoid the rock or avoid the pain, if not, then your words mean nothing. This is quite literally foolproof and irrefutable, it will be rejected by the masses, but adopted by those in the know
