>>24765107Philosophy was invented by Thales in like 600 BC as a way to explain natural phenomena without resorting to the gods. Anaxagoras was exiled for saying that the moon was a rock. Socrates was executed for subverting the traditional understanding of the gods. Then for a short time in early christianity, writers like Origen and Tertullian shit on philosophy and reason, and even Paul himself said that philosophy was basically bad because it makes you follow "human reason" instead of God. Similarly to how Al Ghazali later wrote against the philosophers because they contradicted Islam. But then Augustine had the brilliant idea of appropriating Aristotle and Plato into Christianity and invented the idea of the "noble pagan." This was a more successful tactic than trying to get people to just stop reading the philosophers, so it stuck. Now 1600 years later, ignorant retards like you say that philosopher was "traditionally" the handmaiden of theology, when in reality that was a propaganda narrative created by a cultist named Augustine just recently.

Why are so many atheists angry with the Christian god specifically? If you hear someone slandering Mohammed, or the Buddha, they're almost always a Christian, but if you hear someone slandering the Christian god, they're almost certainly an atheist.
>>24764494"Separation of church and state" did not originally apply to State governments.Only the Federal government.
>>24765003the eucharist is fucking literal you larper. Christians literally believe theyre physically eating God.
>>24761737>Little does the belief part of religion really matter anyways to the modern athiest movement, which focuses more on religion as a system of "silly" social norms and rituals rather than individual belief. This is entirely wrong, the reverse is true. The modern atheist movement praises the rituals and ridicules the individual belief. Being a sane, intelligent person in society and believing that a rabbi with superpowers saved the world two thousand years ago is the thing we ridicule. Not going to church or taking lent.
>>24764785Most of these are secular. Really reaching with the whole "it's the Christians" angle. I've met plenty of pro-life agnostics and athiests, and of course muslims.
>>24765896I admire the creativity but that doesn't seem to match up with reality at all. Athiest belief systems like communism tend to go after religious rituals, clergy, even architecture. Post-modern depictions of Christians in the boomer-run West are always milquetoast whites with blonde hair and blue eyes that end up shown in a very specific light, as if to try to lump in racial and class differences to make Christians look worse. Have you been aware of pop culture from the 90s to today?

I plan to start reading more in general since I've primarily read non-fiction books. I'm going to start reading Dracula tonight. Is the original book still the most recommended way to experience it, the 1897 edition?
>>24765812Basically what I meant with it as there is a lot of editions with the book is there maybe one that is considered better than the OG. I'd want the original experience and all was just curious since I notice the editions have varying lengths
Also it feels so surreal talking in a normal way on 4chan lol. I go to /v/ a lot and it literally feels like some fever dream having people respond seriously to me and not call me a troon or faggot in every sentence
>>24765890Read the original. Avoid the heavily "annotated" editions that float around. Some notes about historical trivial here and there are nice, but heavy commentators about random shit of the book are usually to be biased and sour your experience.Yes, is a good book. Especially to read in October. My recommendation is you read it slowly and maybe put some music while doing it. Is one of these books you only get to experience the ending once.
>>24765901/v/ is one of the most retarded boards on the site. /vr/ is a big step up in discourse. /lit/ is relatively good but not as good as it was ten years ago. Plenty of trans deranged chuds hanging out on every board at this point. Believe it or not, /mu/ used to be worthwhile.

>>24765428midwit post, rap is about entertaining the crowd, or person listening to the record, poetry as it stood, was produced on the page and for the most part utterly cucked by the English public standards of the time, so that they were limited to coming up with radically creative meter because the subject matter was always the most mind-killingly mundane expression of life you could ever imagine. Rap has lots of other limitations, for example, the neccessity to hide behind symbols of bravado. DJ Premier being, for example, completely musically illiterate and forced to steal other people's music to create a beat. The idea that someone on 4chan willingly reads meter for fun without telling anyone before or afterwards is laughable.
>>24765953>and for the most part utterly cucked by the English public standards of the time, so that they were limited to coming up with radically creative meter because the subject matter was always the most mind-killingly mundane expression of life you could ever imagine. The most renowned English poet of the 19th century died in battle as part of a Homeric larp while most of his poetry reflects a combination of that with bawdy comic interludes.

this lil nigga said that we live to work. That there's no other meaning don't ask me why but I unironically found that powerful that a billionaire who's so old he could die tomorrow still cares about going to his factories worldwide to do management and oversight work there not necessarily because he cares so much but because there's literally nothing better to do than to work even after becoming a billionaire In case you want to watch ithttps://freemovieswatch.cc/movie/watch-american-factory-online-7775or just search in Yandex "American Factory stream online" and you'll find multiple options to watch it for free

Well it depends on how you define "work." Mere drudgery, the usual 9 to 5, I might argue is not meaningful work like what this guy is doing. This guy is managing, controlling, organizing, planning. Productive and engaging stuff. That's real "work," and that sort of thing is very fulfilling. But I'm not sure it's the same as going to a factory or an office or a service job five days a week.
