Link, Zelda, and ganondorf initially started off fairly well characterized but drifted into Mary sue schlock. Also the author for some reason has this fixation about “muh racism bad and illogical” that is presented in a smarmy self righteous manner as is it’s obvious when it adds nothing to the story and in fact waters down and detracts from the main plot point centered abound the three tribes as the heartwarming myth plays out and the main characters with their story being interwoven into that. It doesn’t even make sense to frame it like that since that’s not how it was framed in canon nor were the ponies depicted as seeing it that way. To be honest the first chapter works fairly well as a standalone Zelda one shot fic. If you just read it as if it’s that and not read the rest of the story you will probably find it more enjoyable.
