I panned the vocals, ukulele, and tambourine track hard right, and panned the electric guitar the same. I put the drums and bass hard left. I added reverb and various effects before panning everything slightly more into the middle, just until I could hear the signal in the opposite earphone. The foot tapped tambourine panned opposite the drums provides an illusion of width on the drums that doesn't actually exist. Allowing it to not sound lopsided, but also providing separation through the physical speakers of instruments that could interfere with each others frequencies.

To the bassists in the thread, how long did it take you from picking up the bass to becoming an ok player? I've been thinking of trading my saxophone for a bass guitar, i don't like playing it anymore. I'll probably not be able to practice more than an hour a day.

The reason I have been using thinner picks is because they give a nice bright sound which is nice for fast parts, but I have to kinda dig my thumb into it (bend it) to make less floppy for very fast stuff. I heard metal picks also sound bright, but I don't want some metallic ringing sound if that's a side-effect.
