I have a Virago 250. I'm seeing a lot of people add pod filters to their bike but mostly for cosmetic reasons, the bug-eye looking chrome pods turn people off. Is there any benefit to using these? Am I better using stock?
>>28031338I think you posted the wrong picture there, buddy. You're clearly working on the front here.
>>28031342Fellow beginner cruiser friend, it is for two reasons. The maintenance is easier that way and rebel people have been doing the same on the pre 17' gens. Power gains are basically non existent but it is aesthetic.>Am I better using stockAre you using paper air filters, if so, yes.

>>28031349No paper air filter, it's a sponge inside one of the chrome pods. I think the frame acts as an airbox for the whole system. >maintenanceHow so? Replacing the sponge and oiling it took me about 2 or 3 minutes. Or am I missing some other bike related maintenance that is made easier due to the pods?

>>28031342Pod filters can let more air in, which is needed so you can put more fuel in, which hypothetically lets you get more power.in practice they only let more air in if you also have a freer-flowing exhaust, you have to swap carb jets or I guess ECU map to put more fuel in to match more air, and there's only a tiny slight amount of add'l power you can get out of a stock engine by increasing fuel-air mixture amount (and even smaller on a 250)the downsides are shittier idle/less smooth everything, so IMO not worth it. I also think they look like shit
>>28031465Its not just a slipon, its that + mid pipe. Honestly its very close to straightpipe, its so loud. You dont need a tune, but its better. The ECU is pretty smart and in few cycles will adjust the a/f ratio by itself

Very recently got my license on a 2015 sv650,my motorcycle Is a 350cc supermoto but i'm thinking about leaving It at my parent's home (different state) as a Summer vacation bike and Just buy a bigger bike where i live.I saw both a Suzuki gsr600 and a Hornet 600 for the same price and from the same year (2008) for what i think it's a fair price, i'm leaning towards the Suzuki but i still know very Little about bikes, help me anons!
It's not that cheapo bolted shit like the MT09 or the RS660 anyways. I'm actually not surprised but it totally has openings for intake ducts they aren't using because they don't want to change the airbox on the street bike, so presumably the GYTR kit will come with that and cut a hole where the headlight is. Makes sense from a pure factory racing practicality standpoint because of the intake noise but is total bullshit for the average person, I mean people bitch about what it costs to make a CBR600 a competitive race bike because it's very slightly more street focused but it's nothing compared to what an R9 will.
so what happens if you have a female passenger and she dozes off

>>28031776yeah you 100% need some kind of venting or you'll burn up in the summer and have the visor fog up in the winter.UJMs are expensive now because they hit peak trendy a few years ago. 550s are cheaper but less common than 750s. consider a 900F supersport or similar too

What is this bike? brain is failing me.
Test riding an R1250RS on Saturday. I can't trust the VFR not to just fucking DIE on me mid-tour so I need something with a warranty where I can throw money at the problem... and electricals that aren't old enough to drink. Fug. I wish there was a modern V4 shaft drive sport tourer. That might actually get me to sell the viffer. Zukachi saev me.
>>28031938>this good on a DRZThe most impressive thing in the vid was him keeping it together on the whoops, everything else is low speed fucking about in a high traction environment. . .

>>28032023Ducati Hypermotard> brain is failing meyou can just admit you have no idea. no one will judge you.
>>28032033I don't, I expect the dealer to be able to fix it same or next day if it does, so I can resume the tour. VFR parts availability is drying up so anything that takes it off the road other than a tire, a chain, or a battery is basically "fuck you, trailer it home."
>>28032010Thanks. It’s been great, next season I’ll get out to the mountains a bit more. Hopefully the Triumph is doing well
what's up dbt. Today I got a fucking STEAL. This little TW costs me 450€. It runs but kinda bogy. it doesn't have that many kilometers but the owner only ran it very short distances so that's the real downside. Might slap in a new cylinder. I wanna use it to ride in snow. hope we get some this year.
>>28032032Are all your vids taken in your property? If so I'm mad jelly.Wish I had land to carve out a sick moto track to rip around on.I also havent encountered any jumps yet on my T7. Nothing more than a hump in the road where I can get 1/64th of a second of air time on if i gun it.
>>28032048Looks like you're gonna make some fun memories soon.
>>28032048>runs but kinda bogy>low mileageCarb issue?
>>28031486I remember you mentioning you wanted a spark exhaust initially but couldn't get one in your country so you settled for SC. What made you want spark in the first place?
>>28032052I already have a T7 and made some memories with that but I don't want to drag that thing trough the salty winter. That's where the TW comes in.>>28032053Ok in it's class it's considered low milage. so that's relative. Pic related in kilometers. The float seems to be stuck bc it looses fuel when it turn the cock. lol. gotta do the carb anyways. I'm really thinking about splitting the case but that's almost too much for a winter bike that I want to abuse a bit.
>>28032049A lot of, but not all of them. I usually don't get home until around ~5 during the week and hen figure about hour to get changed and put my gear on, so it's very nice to be able to stay at the house and still be able to get some actual dirt riding in before dark.

>>28031329This is going in my Kino folder.
>>28032049>havent encountered any jumps yet on my T7You probably don't want to - the 7's OEM suspension really, really sucks. Even revalved with +25mm links I had to over-spring mine so much to handle the riding I like to do that it has literally zero rider sag with all ~225lbs of me on it and it still bottoms hard. Today I tried an aluminum monopod and 4 ram mount clamps to have 2 separate points of contact on the monopod and the bike which worked well enough at low speed to give me a flicker of confidence it might be able to hold up to a professional retard like me.. it made it about a lap and a half before it blew two of the clamps apart and broke the end off the aluminum monopod and yeet'd the gopro off the rear wheel into the weeds.I've got 49mm A-kit Showa forks off a 2017 CRF450R waiting in the shop that I'm going to be swapping in over the winter season after I have them rebuilt for the application. I'll probably just drop the coin for an MXTech rally shock so the rear can be an easy bolt-in affair.

>>28032059Does it have a fucked up clutch where it's pretty much either on or off with no friction zone between ?My friend has a TW exactly like that and I cannot figure out what the fuck is wrong with it. I replaced everything, frictions, steels, springs and set all the adjustments, but it's either ON or OFF and if you drop the clutch it has a slight delay before it engages. It's infuriating. It's fun AF though, especially for how underpowered it is.
>>28032032ok so ur better than that guy? how does that have any bearing on my question? it's definitely above par for the drz
>>28032135when my Tenere sat for a few days and instantly use the clutch, it makes a horrible sound because all the oil is squeezed out of the friction zone by the spring pressure so it's pretty dry in there. Then the friction zone is also just 0.5mm of lever pull. Most ppl want a sharp clutch I also like it so I don't see any issue. it's the perfect wheelie machine

>>28032150The answer is lots and lots of practice and knowing where your limits are. Start mastering basics like using the clutch, body positioning, weight transfer, etc then start attempting things that are outside your comfort zone. Know how to wreck your bike safely and be ready to drop it when something goes wrong.

>>28032457Simpson bandit is a very very loud helmet and hasn't passed ece.2206 so it's not the safest either. The Skorpion covert FX is a nice ece.2206 compliant version of the same helmet and also has better sound dampening. And the little gay S on the helmet can come off with the help of some dental floss so you can put your own sticker there>>28032466This is a great choice as well, AGV has a lot of really great budget helmets to look at tooTheir K1S(loud) and K6S are both really great examples of that

FIVE HUNDRED MILE REVIEW
>>28032628b-but anon!https://streamable.com/528fqi
>>28032641Ignore him. He doesn't understand the joy of the long road. He will some day, unless he dies of squid.
>>28032616I have a buddy in CO I'm desperately trying to get to buy a bike so we can ride (I'm in VA), last time I mentioned it was right before Sept and he said "bro it's already snowing where I am" :'(
>>28032641lol sick vid, need to start putting together my own shit, seems like it would be fun. Idk just doesn't seem like my kinda lifestyle, too much money for unnecessary things.>>28032644>doesn't understand the joy of the long road.I bought the faza specifically so I could leave town more!!! roadtripping is fun!!! I just like having very very little on my bike, taking only what I need and all that. Whenever I see a pack of bmws or other ADVs rolling on the freeway with hauling more luggage than a trugg could I shudder to imagine being in the same boat.Maybe I'll find myself there one day like you said, but for the time being a backpack and some bungee cords is all I need
>>28032641incredibly basado
>>28032588its a good helmet
>>28032604Love me analog gauges, simple as. (Will settle with basic digital speedo and analog tach).Sorry R6, but miss me with that tv screen gimmick.
>>28032655for me it's the old digital alarm clock dash, bonus for flashing rev limiter indicators
>>28032650On longer trips it adds up. A backpack is fine for a few days especially if you're staying indoors (i.e. not camping), but every "mode" of gear/clothing takes liters. Camping gear, beach stuff, laptop, nicer clothes if you're riding someplace fancy, etc. If I was going to ride out on a two month long summer vacation I'd have panniers, topbox, tankbag, and maybe a duffel strapped to the pillion seat. And yes that does hurt how well the bike handles. That's why all good boxes are quick-detach so when you get where you're going you can goon around unburdened.
>>28032654And road6 are great tyres, yet anon must spam soijacks regardless.
>>28032664You can ditch at least one of those t. lived off my bike for a couple months. Probably the duffle bag or top box, just pick one. Tank bag for quick glove change is goated.

>>28032766Should've worn a raincoat, idiot
>>28032070i'd prefer to stay on the naked sector desu>>28031813 Is the suzuki that bad? the hornet has aftermarket pieces so i'm a bit worried about what the previous owner might have fucked up while wrenchingthe market for used is not that big, a lot of new bikes at almost full price or some old but heavy bikes (a very nice looking cb 750 from '95 and some bmw r1100 from '97 catched my eye, but again i'd prefer smaller and lighter)
>>28032655>Sorry R6, but miss me with that tv screen gimmick. It's not a gimmick dude, these guys with TV screen clusters are living the life. The bike displays so much info. Anything from suspension travel, oil temps, coolant temps, real time lean angle and logs maximums. Can't even lowside because the TV will tell you when you're about to lowside so you can stop leaning. Also it displays a map so you can't get lost ,very big deal. Later on when people hack the TV it'll gain even more functionality. Analogue gauges can't do anything!
>>28032641You can't do that
>>28032175kek, rip zero anon. It was a good run!
>>28032914>Wanting to look at anything other than the road while you rideHell No Brother
So I've been getting more comfortable with backing it into corners by engine braking mostly, just now that I realised all the times my rear stepped out when I emergency braked were likely a newb's version of backing it in because I just had to emergency brake again today and it did the same thing, the feeling was similar. But I used the rear brake instead of downshifting, it doesn't feel like the rear fully locked up no skidding noise. >Mfw I've been kicking the rear out since day 1
>>28032921>Hell No Brotherso what, no gauges at all???
>>28032805Carb Kit and upgraded forks/Brakes and new tires IS HUGE. That’s amazing. Good deal.

Does anyone know what that is in the middle of my tyre? It's like some sort of "band" it's not dirt, you can tell by touching it.I have only about 2000 km on that tyre
>>28032923Ideal situation is having plug in gauges for troubleshooting and maybe a low gas indicatorCan’t say I’m not a sucker for cool lookin gauges tho
>>28032965you just reminded that they tire pressure monitoring too wow!
>getting too fat for me jacketFeels bad guys
>>28032934different compound
>>28032934just a guess but probably some strip of harder rubber for the part of the tyre that sees the most use and where you can sacrifice a little grip to get a bit more durability
>>28032971>>28032972That must be it, the tyre is a bicomponent one (Scorpion trail 2)
>>28032969Same. Too much beer and pizza.

>>28032805>Btw I've never been on two wheels before except for a bicycle. But I like the idea of a klr650.Buy some crash bars for it and get one. Here's the thing: You really can't go wrong wtih a KLR. they are tractors, they will live forever. The biggest thing to worry about breaking is yourself when you drop it, or the plastic farings on the bike (That you can replace). Buy a set of Tusk Crash Guards and the KLR and have yourself a good time.t. wish he got a KLR when he could have got one real cheap.

>>28033088>The 765 is the Moto2 engine and it would be dumb to move away from that,It will be a bored out 765 lol.
>>28033088MV Agusta is already at 800cc for their 675 derived triple. Now that there's zero motivation to maintain any kind of displacement classes the extent of "development" these days is to just keep adding stroke to cancel out the power you lose from putting the world's most gigantic exhaust tumor on the bike.
