I'm seriously considering a Harley as a donor bike for the quad.
On one hand the low end torque would be very beneficial and the steel frame would be easier to fab.
On the other hand...
Well that's just a huge fucking list of suck.

I DO NOT want a quad that sounds like a Harley.
Sure it would be cool out at comp hill in Glamis, but not cruising around my 40 ares on the daily.
I've heard some fairly quiet factory HD exhausts but how quiet can you actually make them?
What does a Harley sound like with a yoshimura can(s)?
>>
>>28207254
I dunno you might be a fag. Bikes are cool and it looks especially cool in that photo, also props to the photog for turning on the lights on the bike, makes it look even cooler. When I look at that photo all I can imagine is getting on that bike and riding off into the night like a bat out of hell.

OEM harley pipes are just stuffed to hell with exhaust packing that make them sound like a ninja 400. They completely burn out after 5k-10k on someone who actually rolls on the throttle.

I know riders who are the kind of people who shit up a hobby and their own mortality doesn't register since as far as they're concerned they're perfect and naturally good riders despite having tendies wider than the rear tire on a 80s UJM

Police or Death will eventually filter them but not before they gay things up for everyone else

Had to do this in the midwest for a couple years, it was no bueno but is doable. Chains will rust SUPER fast no matter what you do, the bike was also wet even under the cheap cover I bought for it, Luckily never stolen although I did not live in a melanin area, I'm sure it would have been taken if there were abhumans around. If it's your only option it's your only option, just keep grinding until you can improve your situation and get a nice warm home for your bike.
>>

Sorry my opinion hurt your feelings lil buddy.

Already tired of the ice.
>>28207698
I leave my rebel out uncovered in the cold. No one has attempted theft yet and I'm mostly around Hispanic ricers at my apartment. Chain rust all you can do is thick gear oil every weekend and cleaning. Still rusts on the surface.

Can I get a categorical answer for this one? It's such a simple question but the answers are all wonky everywhere.

If put a new REAR sprocket with 2-3 MORE teeth (vs stock) on a 2015 Yamaha R3, will it mess with the speedo/odometer reading?

I only want accurate clockerinoes.

Serious question:
Those of you that have chose the runner life, do you just pull your plate off at all times and are ready to dip at any moment, always constantly on edge for cops, or do you put your plate back on sometimes? What if you commute a lot on your bike?
I have several bikes and have the money that I can change fairing colors if need be.
I need to black out all my gear though.

Cops have typically been pretty lenient, but I have had a couple of dumb encounters recently that are making me question if the runner life is worth it. Just not understanding or reasonable given the situation.
>>

Motorcycle market is genuinely retarded. How am I supposed to choose a bike when the price gap is so smol yet bikes are so different?

9k - R7
9.5k - CBR
10k - XSR900
>>
>>28209260
You said it yourself, they're completely different bikes, that's how you should choose.
>>
>>28209253
A positive thing to mean you made a good purchase.
The bike has enough power to last you forever, assuming you don't get the more "horse power bug" which most riders get.
>>
>>28209262
But the XSR will destroy both of these bikes in terms of raw power.
Why would anyone want the other two? The R7 is good for the track, and the CBR is fine if you have to commute for hours. But the XSR is just so much more of a bike for the same money it's stupid.
>>
>>28209273
One is a faired twin engine, one is a faired i4, and one is a naked/retro triple.
They are all completely different bikes for completely different tastes, never mind the hp difference.

Look, if you pick 650 instead of 600 you will be bullied.
If you pick 2 cylinders instead of 4 you will be bullied. No matter what.

Not literally, but you're gonna feel it;
>you could buy this, you could buy that, my bike is cheaper (but obviously faster), its a p-twin, is this a steel frame, etc

Are you ready to explain your choice to every random rider?
>n-no actually it's not a R1, it's has two cylinders!
>n-no it's just a tourer and it weights 210kg!

You won't be able to race any fucking idiot on the road. Good luck explaining why the R7 is actually great and why you don't care.

With the XSR900 you will be mogging every fucking 600 and even leader bikes. With the XSR900 you're the bully, you can fight back.

Tbf i have more respect for r3, tenny and mt07 anons. R7 its just the riders and yamaha fans that beed to be bullied for it.
>Bullying a cb650
RR maybe but R is fine, neocafe still looks good even if you basically can't take it on the hwy stock. Tbf hondas are tame so IDK what people expected.
>With the xsr900 your the bully
You are a wanna be liter than gets mogged by liters and probably the r9. People like it for being a neoclassic and having decent performance and price but it's days are njmbered and you are overselling it. People end up just buying the mt or yzf, same issue with honda trying to sell the CBR neocafe and kills it because people only actually buy the CBF and CBRR.
>>

Should I sell my harley and get an MT09 again?

I sold the 2024 MT09 because i was scared i would die due to the power and afraid to rev it incase i wheelie

I got hit twice last year by a ford 250 and a Subaru outback. I have ptsd along with broken bones but for some weird reason I'm getting addicted to the pain, specifically the road rash. One was my fault the other was a hit and run by a future doctor. The only reason why I survived is that I ride scooters. So when I get hit I get flung away. My vino is dead but I still live.

How do big thumpers feel vibration wise? My 150 is extremely smooth at cruising speed it almost feels like the engine is off sometimes. I want to get a bigger thumper but not if it rattles me bones to arthritis
>>

I've hit 95mph between the park and the gate in my mustang.
At night with multiple passes to be sure nobody is parked on the shoulder and is coming out when I'm going through.
The top portion on the otherside of the gate is nice when combined with the sweeping turns of the first portion before the park.

The RE 350 is creepily smooth for a single, I used to have a CB300R and that the vibes would be painful after an hour.
The 350 I rode for 3 hours and didn't feel a bit of pain.

I’ll give it a shot some time for sure just because it’s so close to me but I’m a much bigger fan of slower technical roads that are more challenging. High speed sweeping turns just seem like twice the risk for half the fun.
Plus turning at 90+mph is exhausting and the wind hurts my neck :s
>>
>>28210489
Gear driven cams, has the best mix of parts from all generations, 500 pounds flat vs 535 from 6th gens. Timeless design.
>>
>>28210562
Same engine completely different tune, suspension and chassis. At best it make 106hp with 63lbft but stock on dunk it is really around 103hp. Mt09 makes the same torque and 10hp more.
>>
>>28210563
Hard to explain, it's nothing like a small single in my opinion. It's much slower to rev but so enjoyable to ride. I don't care much about vibrations
>>
>>28210615
The 5th gen also has a shorter swing arm which makes it particularly nimble, the weight distribution for it is also far lower than the 6th gen models due to the exhaust/chassis design.

Closed loop fuel injection is extremely simple, the linked brakes are nice but I'll admit a little confusing to wrench on if you're used to ABS systems but objectively feels great when proper.

Theres 5th gen viffers who've gone 300k+ MILES with simple valve adjustment and basic maintence cycles.

>t. 50k miles 5th gen still running strong.
>>
>>28210627
Also also
The tooling used for the 5th gens engine was the exact same used for the RC 45, engine casing is almost 1:1 and the build quality shoes. Frame is the same way.

Only downside will be low speed maneuvers (>5mph) will suck if you suck. It's a little top heavy but nothing awful like an ADV

I never really noticed it as that bad on my rebel but I don't really ride past 75mph or more than an hour or 2. Other people have just suggested changing grips and modifying the handle bar clamps. Honestly your back will hurt more from the stock seat on this from vibrations.

Power band is very nice too.
Around 3800rpm is when you start to get into the power but once you hit 7k rpm that's when the eerie music begins and the gear driven cams really open up.

In corners you will feel planted but agile, akin to the blackbird everything feels smooth and flowy in the corners from the generated momentum.

It's just one of those machines that can do it all while still being tame and mature during frustrating stop-n-go traffic.

there are two drill holes in my rear fender, how can i plug them? Its a harley.
>>
>>28210644
I bought this because I liked the stock handlebar position and at the time there was a cb300r with a blown out fork used. I don't know how to wrench a bike much. As for why I don't want the rebel 500, I like the honda 300 engine bikes weight and I want something more standard.

I rode my bike to the airport today. There were surprisingly good twisties and I could cruise at about 85 without weaving. It's so good being able to lock my helmet in the sidecase, and I get to ride home when I come back instead of going from one cage to another.

Mt-07 if you want to stunt or do lots of wheelies.
Mt-09 if you want a fun bike that's pretty fast and good all around.
Mt-10 if you want to go really fast and sound like an R1.

That sucks. Is bike theft a problem where you're at? I'm lucky that my work place has covered motorcycle parking and is inside the security gate. Before I worked places where they made bikes park in the back 40 and wouldn't let people lock them up to anything.

SeaTac airport garage. Never had a problem with car theft there but anything close to a Vibrant Diversity Zone in this state is dangerous for baikus. Only remote white places do I feel comfortable without a chainup.

Yeah I had a few buddies living in Renton and they had a bad time. I lived the the Seattle area up north 15 years ago. Miss the mountains and at the time proximity to the city. Would go up to the mountains with My R6 almost every weekend and loved ripping through the city and tunnels at night.

Yeah doing 100kph for a few hours starts to hurt the wrists a lot and the seat, I was riding it like a scooter to give my ass some relief.
>>28210669
I like having less tech, less to go wrong and cheaper to fix because I can do it myself. Speed is not a problem for me because I can sit at 100kph and relax because my roads are shit.

>I want a commuter/tourer
>Should I buy a GSX-R1000?
The first question to ask is whether you want a sport tourer (e.g. Ninja 1000, GSX-S1000GT) or a crossover (e.g. Tracer 9, S1000XR). Then you can actually cross-shop among that segment properly, rather than comparing four completely different bikes based solely on how many cylinders they have.

Then tell us what your current bike is and what you like or don't like about it. For instance do you have an R6 and find it too sporty, or an NC750X and find it not sporty enough?

it's very windy on today's ride, and with that my bike's motor which already runs perfectly perfect, now runs even BETTER, you may ask how, well, that's because of good proper maintenance on the air sport filter and constant mileage cooking with clean carbs.

that's what differs a real biker from a casual "rider"
