Found this bike for sale. It’s a 1977 Harley. Do you guys think I should go for it? I’m not a fan of the paint or the front end, but sounds like a simple fix.Description->77 hard tail custom, selling for a friend in tampa, bike presently does not run, just wouldn’t start one day, he doesn’t know what is wrong, literally sitting in his living room room, give me a little time to answer messages/ questions , but I’ll do my best to answer as fast as possible, he is not looking to trade, unless it’s cash, then yeah he will. Bike is in great condition. Squeaky clean title in his hands. Just waiting on you.
Luv me Ural.>>28944022Hell yeah, why not?The paint is whatever, you can always just rattle can it black.
>>28944022>>28944025Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the price.
>>28944022Hope you enjoy wrenching more than riding
gee. I wonder why my bike don't charge.
Has been a nice summer of mangoes desu. Should I load up my top box full of mangoes?
>>28944028And a better pic of the front end, I personally don't hate it, I think it looks good. What I don't like is the rear fender.2.6k for a bike that doesn't run is 600 off the price.
>>28944036still completely stumped as to why she refuses to run right, tho.I've checked and the timing is correct so far as I can tell without a timing light. cams are in time as well.
>>28944038Is something wrong with the chain?
>>28944038I’m honestly thinking about it. Are you saying 2.6k is good, or is it more like 2k?
>>28944037Yes, if you actually posted a picture of the box filled with mangos, that would unironically be a first for /dbt/
>>28944028>rear disc is bigger than the front absolutely brotherly
>>28944047Looks loose>>28944049Yeah, always lowball, unless it's an Ural from an enthusiast.
Got the CB750 up to 25mph today.Gotta try to get the thing into second eventuallyI...really need to buy gear before I crack my head open.
>>28944105PIcs?
>>28944105Show bike.
>>28944022Buying a non-running bike is always a gamble. Could have it up and going in 10 minutes, could take 10 months. >>289440492.6k is way too much for that bike tbqh. >>28944037northeasterner here and I'm jelly of people that can call it summer. temps haven't gone above 60 the last few weeks, and before that we still had snow on the ground.
>>28944116And I'm suffering from summer. Its hitting 35C here in the afternoon. I'll probably melt if I go out. Planning to buy dedicated summer gear.
>>28944113>>28944115Its the shitbike CB750. Everything works but those damn rear turn signals.
>>28944119Everyone else is enjoying summer, except me.I had to light up the fireplace today because it was so cold in the morning.
>>28944126Wicked cool bike. Did you replace all the fluids? Are the tyres new? Like made in the last 5 years?
>>28944138Thanks!Oh yeah, brake fluids fresh, oil is changed, tires cost more than the bike, but are new. Among a few other things. Probably no chance Ill get back what I have in it.Pic is how I got the thing. I told a few that I unwiggered the thing.
>>28944144You are a magician, take it slow until you scrub in the new tyres.
>someone baked a thread>they left me, abandoned>in my own lane>botheredAnyone got spare change? For pills? Time machine pills, specifically?
>>28944020https://youtu.be/Eq1-ib9VBpYwho the fuck washed their bike like this?
>not ride bike for years>sell bike>immediate desire to buy new bike and ride every dayWhat causes this and what bike should I buy? Needs to be $10k new or cheaper. Im coming off a 250 ninja and would prefer something with more relaxed seating
>>28944151Thanks, I promise its not that pretty in person, a real 20 footer. Like the paint was a halfassed day long job.Not sure what I think about the handle bars with a bit of experience.
>>28944180How'd you paint it? Gun and compressor or just rattlecan it?
>>28944029Found the incompetent wrenchlet who can't get a simple job done (like a oil change) in a day.
>>28944193Oh rattle can in a dusty ass 4x8 outbuilding hung on a coat hanger with no real light. As god intended. The bright red is to hide all the imperfections, and its only sanded to 600 grit. I know Ill fuck it up and I can't be too sad if its a half assed job.
first for zuki
>>28944020>Honda VF 750 C (V45 Magna)>Honda VF 1100 C (V65 Magna)>Honda VFR 750>Honda VFR 800 FIAre these good first bikes or am I being delusional?I know the internet boomers keep insisting the V65 has "chocolate" internals, but is it really that bad? A 90's V45 should be unkillable but it doesn't have the same ... I don't know, girth. There's also only three or four V65 on sale in europe but a lot more V45.The VFRs sound very nice.
>>28944197Absolutely based, keep huffing the fumes king.I was too lazy to even sand my frame, used this paint stripper gel and a wire wheel on whatever was left, then rattle can it.
>>28944202Buy a 5th gen vfr and never look back. Trust.
Uralists could be here
>>28944195I see you're unfamiliar with old harleys. Cool, cool.
>>28944216Not that anon, I've never had an old harley, or a harley to begin with, but I'm sure it's not that bad.
>>28944208The respirator is the one thing I do wear.None the less very based anon, I'm sure it looks good enough.
>>28944217Ok :)
>>28944218I mostly paint my shit in a very well ventilated space with excellent air quality (under a pine tree).Whenever I do something indoors, like applying underbody coating and such, I usually wear an old military gas mask. Excellent for making you work faster because you can not breathe in those things.
>>28944213Anything I should be looking out for specifically?
>>28944172anon10k new gets you just about every shitty bike14k gets you into something worth owning

Redpill me on the Ural.Description->This is a 2000 Ural Patrol with 7821 km on it. My kids and I love it, but we’re moving and won’t be able to take the bike with us. It runs great but has a bad alternator. Yes, this thing has an alternator, not a stator. I keep it on a battery tender and am able to get to work and back on that, but it will need to be replaced for longer trips. It has the dents and dings that come with a 26 year old bike, but other than that it’s in great shape.
>>28944252Comsult witb the finland bros, he doesnt afraid of anything
>>28944231Brake fluid 100% They have to be bled properly in order to not have air in the master cylinder. Many used vfrs never get their brake/clutch fluid replaced. Here's how you properly bleed the system.Aside from that and all the normal shit you check when buying bike the only thing I can think of is checking the charging system (stator resistors of the era were known to blow due to high heat melting them all y2k era bikes do that) Bookmark this video, it's a golden resource for properly servicing 98-01 vfrs (aka the best vfr gen)5th gens do 100k miles easy, 200k, 300k, etc. They were used as japanese police bikes because of their unrivaled reliability thanks to those gear driven cams. It's the closest you'll get to the RC45 too
>>28944216You can literally take the entire engine out of the old Harleys (pre evo) and put it on a bench in an afternoon. You're just incompetent. It's just a little sportster too not even one of the big bikes.
>>28944257Oops forgot video link to properly bleed a vfrhttps://youtu.be/5eCMh13Vv20?si=CSlwDP6fg4qzEVoyTrust me. Super helpful video. Bookmark it.
>>28944252Post more pics, a side one from the left side.Looks like a VERY early 750, but I could be mistaken.
>>28942544damn no wonder mt09 is so popular that thing is pushing 2010 leader bike power
>>28944259Nice larp :)
>>28944257>>28944260Thanks, I've bookmarked it, though here in my cunt' we're not allowed to touch brakes without a master-mechanic taking a look at it afterwards (= extra moneys, comes out to the same if you just had let them do it). Insurance and liability.>5th gens do 100k miles easy, 200k, 300k, etc.I've heard that, that's why I was asking about them lmao. I'm just torn between the Magnas and the VFRs.>They were used as japanese police bikes because of their unrivaled reliability thanks to those gear driven cams.Didn't know, that's rad.>It's the closest you'll get to the RC45 tooDamn, there's probably someone who's already built a replica from a RC46.
>>28944284Tyga used to sell body kits to make it look 1:1 Magnas are dope too, you can't go wrong either way just ask if you want a sporty bike or a cruzoor.Have a mechanic in your cunt service the clutch and brake fluid and you'll be OK. >>28944295Ok nobike :)
>>28944307Big cope, don't you have wrenching to do? Or are you just gonna spin your wheels as per usual
>>28944295>Tyga used to sell body kits to make it look 1:1Nice>Magnas are dope too, you can't go wrong either way just ask if you want a sporty bike or a cruzoor.I think I'll get the cruzoor. Not like I'll get women with the sport bike anyways lmao.>Have a mechanic in your cunt service the clutch and brake fluid and you'll be OK.Will do, thanks!>Also check out this if you wanna see more vfr thrown around hardRad. Just one thing Anon, you see this part in your Link:>?si=SRkR7xLvuPAdU_1-Delete that shit when sharing links, that's a tracking-tag, with that YouTube knows who shares which video and builds association graphs for palantir or some other gay pre-crime fag ass motherfuckers. If you share links around with these, you might one day in the future have cops kicking in your door and kill your dog because some weirdo who clicked your links once shot up a school or something and the system associated them with you, prompting the pigs to raid your home to find out what you know about that weirdo, which will be nothing because it was a publicly shared link. They're at least random for each person per video as no one can forge your Id on those videos, but YouTube still knows who clicked your link.Safe link looks like this: https://youtu.be/pVoXGGXRl5kThis happens with all GAYMAN sites and most tech sites in general, you usually want to trim a link until you can access it without any fluff.Stay safe!

>>28944321A very late 650, a 8.123 with CVK carbs and the 14.3771 500W alternator it seems, I don see a cush drive at least.I think most if not all 650s were with K68 carbs instead of those Keihin CVK32s, if they are genuine. The air filter housing looks a bit odd too. Also shit's got an electric starter which are somewhat rare in 650s.Depending on what differential its got, this thing will not do anything above 80kmh/55mpv and even then you might want to reconsider pushing it even that far.Old saying doing 100kmh will get you 100km in a hour, doing 60kmh will get you around the world eventually.5 grand for a 650 is a hard sell, first thing I'd do is ditch the alternator for a Denso unit.
Acquired crf450rl pissed in kitNo tarrifsFinally, Shoomers can be habby
>>28944215Whoa
Does anything stateside scratch the itch of the XSR900 GP?Actually, just why the FUCK won't they bring the xsr900 GP to the USA? All we have are chinese-inspired ANGLES, SHARP EDGES, and ANGRY EYES. When are the 80s/90s retro trackbikes/beautiful rounded fairings going to come back? Close enough I guess is the CB1000f SE, but it'll still be months before those get here. Genuinely crazy there's nothing that scratches that 90s superbike itch as well as 90s superbikes. I mean I can keep buying those, sure, but they're gonna all rot to being shitbike tier pretty soon with blown out forks and missed valve jobs.
>>28944314Post your bike. :)
>>28944202They are fine, but why not get a bit with abs for your first bike. Let it be a cb300r, cb500r, himi or a gt650. Get a beginner bike made in last 5 years. Viffers can be a second bike.
>>28944339what are you building a bike 1 piece at a time kek, remember you dont have a bike
>>28944341i feel like i already saw one of these irl
>>28944333Thanks anon. What are these things really worth? What's a deal? Currently I'm looking at a lot of different stuff. I'm open to pretty much anything.Honestly, I would like an old Harley, but I wouldn't be opposed to researching other bikes.>CB750's>CBR's>Urals>DRZ350'sWhich btw, if anyone wants to chime in, ask questions, or give advice on helping me find what I'm looking for, I'm open. I 've had dirt bikes, a Honda shadow, and just came out of an 883.
>>28944360Just get a SV650 and call it a day man.
>>28944270>that thing is pushing 2010 leader bike powerthat dyno is fake, theres not a sigle one of those triples making over 120hp, the problem is they cant rev
>>28944360>What are these things really worth?Dunno about the US, I can get them anywhere between from 2 grand to free, so I'm not a good yard stick for pricing them.Realistically somewhere in the 2 to 3 grand range for a clean 650 sounds about right, but these are EU prices. For 5 grand I'd expect it to be a 750 OHV already, 5 grand for a 650 ain't it to be honest. You can tell the 750 and 650 OHVs apart by their valve covers, the 650 has round, pill shaped covers, whereas the 750s have 2 notches cut on them, making them more figure 8 shaped. These are not highway cruiser bikes as I said, they live comfortably at around 3k rpm and 60kmh tops, anything beyond that without a cop differential runs the risk of twisting the crank or similar shenanigans. The crankshaft of the 650 is its weakest link as it's a pressed together 5 piece crank. They're very fragile or rather delicate as manhandling or rpighing them too much might knock them out of alignment and ruin your engine.Even then that's a leading link front fork, so riding it solo, without a sidecar, might be a horrible experience. Also those 14.3771 alternators suck shit. They're known as hand grenades for a reason. They tend to drop the shaft into your timing case and jam the gears, the stuck cast steel gears will rapidly find their way outside of the aluminium block along qith your timing gears, destroying everything in their path.

>>28944400Wdym?
>>28944319>tracking linkDang wtf, I never knew that shit. My bad. Thanks for the heads up anon I'll delete that shit in the future.
>>28944369>SV650That thing is ugly. I don’t like it.>>28944391Honestly, it simultaneously sounds like a horrible and amazing bike. Also I live on a dirt road, so maybe I should really look into a Ural.. they are good looking bikes.
>>28944360The CB750 is a vibe of a motorcycle
>>28944444>QuintsTell me about the vibe.
>>28944442Objectively speaking it's the worst bike I've ever had, but I wouldn't trade my Ural for any other bike.I sold my Moto Guzzi after a full engine rebuild and like 500 metres put on it just because I preferred the Ural over it despite its flaws. the Guzzi is all around a better bike, but I just wasn't feeling it. I contemplated some jap bike too as a reliable cruiser for long distance trips, we're talking across Europe trips which I wouldn't even imagine doing on a 650 Ural, but I just ended up buying a 750 IHV engine off a 2004 Ural for mine.Urals require a lot of attention, dedication and patience, the payoff honestly isn't much, but I've never enjoyed a bike as much as I have my Ural. Even working on them is fun, many times I've started some quick 5 minute fix, ended up spending 8 hours doing various things around the bike, improvements and such without noticing the passage of time at all, only realizing after my manager calls me>you didn't come to work today>Yeah, I sure didn't, had something more important to do
>>28944359That would be crazy if you are stateside as right now they are Australia, New Zealand, and Japan only I believe
>>28944442Urals aren’t for newfag bikers desu
>>28944449Shit anon I am new at this motorcycling thing and have no real frame of reference for other bikes.I just take mine around the neighborhood.Easy/cheap to work on. No pesky expectations from others.Easy enough to ride.It is simply a vibe.
>>28944455So basically don’t get one unless you know how to fix things? That’s unfortunate.
>>28944462Honestly yeah, if you ain't got the patience to fix it, it's a bust. Also finding parts for the 650s is starting to get difficult, due to current world situation and because crankshafts for the 650s haven't been produced since 2001 or so, all you can find now are aliexpress specials with horrible build quality, they're twisted from the factory and the slinger plates aren't even properly attached.750s are a bit better off and IMZ is fighting tooth and nail to "keep existing bikes running" and get production for 750 parts running, there were some murmurs about restarting 650 parts production too.On the plus side they are ridiculously easy bikes to fix, like you can take almost everything apart and put back together on the roadside if need be. I've heard of Uralists replacing snapped cranks and camshafts on the side of the road with just the original tool roll.
>>28944479Well, maybe it’s not a total bust then. The most work I’ve done on a car is replacing my alternator, and changing the oil. lolThe thing that does attract me to the Ural is it’s a road bike that’s apparently really good for off-road. Like I said, I’m open to other bikes. I’m just seeing what sticks basically. I don’t want to go 200mph, but I’m not totally sure what I’m looking for either.
>>28944489Well it's sink or swim with an Ural then, gotta start somewhere. That being said, I'd look for a telescopic fork Ural instead of leading link, the LL bikes do not like riding without a sidecar, whereas a regular telescopic front fork bike can drop the sidecar for solo riding.Sidecars handle more akin to an ATV than a motorcycle. Also if that rig has a proper 2WD differential, meaning there's a prop shaft going to the sidecar wheel, it's going to be an absolute monster offroad and aside for climbing straight walls, that thing will get you stuck into places some dadventure bikes wouldn't even imagine going close to.Again the experience offroad is comparable to an ATV, it'll waddle through knee deep mud like it was nothing.Get stuck, smack it into reverse and try again.
>>28944496That does sound like fun. lol I appreciate that information, anon. God bless you, and thank you for talking to me about it. It sounds like hybrid of an atv, road bike, and something like a DRZ. Haha
>>28944022>$2,600Buy it and see what happens. It's cheap enough to be worth the gamble. If you can wrench, that is.
>>28944345I have neither the money nor the space to accommodate two bikes ( ._.)Otherwise I'd be going ham right now.>>28944422Checked, I hope I don't have to mention that Instagram reels also do this.Stay safe out there bros.
