What is HDR in files? Can I export any RAWs as HDR in RawTherapee? Or do I need a special camera that captures extra data in the RAW? Do you use this?

it is possible 12 or 14 or 16 bit raw data snapshoting at base sensitivity 24/7 and normalize jpg

No display technology can go brighter than the brightest it can go. No "knobs go to 11" tomfoolery will change that.

What they do is they dim the backlight everywhere else so that bright area looks brighter by comparison. Which could be fine in theory but it looks like shit in practice. Because your "4k" tv is limited to like 0.1 megapixels of high contrast so any detail in high contrast areas gets all muddy.
>>
>>4466625
But that’s exactly what hdr screen technology is (and therefore what the files do). The knob goes to 11/10. But not for the whole screen simultaneously, only parts

Summer of getting shit done edition

All video related questions and discussion is intended for this thread. Here we discuss techniques, gear and anything else related to capturing video footage. Please don't pretend to be an expert if you don't know what you're talking about. Kindly leave your ego at the door.
Posting short films/scripts or other work you've done is encouraged.
We tend to use and recommend DSLRs/mirrorless cameras because they provide phenomenal picture quality for their price, have large sensors (ie the same size used in high-end cinema cameras and higher) and have interchangeable lenses.
In contrast, consumer camcorders often have much smaller sensors and a fixed lens.

If it looks good then go for it? Personally I wouldn't because the ergonomics are so shit along with the tiny sensor (plus imagine owning an iphone lmao).
If you're not shooting seriously then why do you even care? The rule of thumb is always to use what you have and only upgrade if you find that what you have isn't sufficient for what you want to do. You haven't given any justification for why you need more than an iphone.

Canon c50 full specs leaked
>7k open gate raw and compressed recording (decent compression too making it usable)
>4k 120 no crop
>dual iso (800 and 12800?)
>no ibis, no evf
>attachable xlr top handle unit
>sub $4k price
Everyone's saying this is canon's answer to the fx3 (which is weird because the r5c, c70 and c80 already seem like decent responses but whatever). I'm just impressed/surprised that they have 7k non-raw recording. Never seen a non-raw resolution between 4k and 8k in a canon camera before.
This seems very uncharacteristic of canon. I don't see how this won't cannibalise c80 sales.
>>
>>4466661
> I don't see how this won't cannibalise c80 sales.
It probably will. That's probably the point. They're likely seeing real slow sales of C series cameras save for the stuff they're selling to production firms (yeah lots of those floating around kek). These hybrid cameras are selling well from what I remember reading about the R5C and appear much more accessable and familiar to a lot of lower-tier movie/video users.

4K120 with no crop is nice, but the R50 V can do 4k60 (as well as anything newer than an R8) and realistically who the fuck is delivering content in 120fps.
No IBIS is the biggest what the fuck I'm seeing here. There goes your handheld market, so in typical Canon fashion they're making ass backwards market segmentation choices that makes no sense.
>sub 4k price
The R5C is like... $3000?

Music is also not merit based. All of pop stars are industry plants. That doesn't mean shit. Art music still exists. Then there are clever pop stars like Charli XCX who find ways to penetrate into mainstream.

If you do good work and you know your audience then you will gather attention. An artist has to be sharp minded. Knowing how to market yourself is a key skill of being an artist. This lone wolf starving hermit artist is literal fiction. Nobody is coming to publish you. At. first you gotta make moves, network and market yourself.

>>4466141
>bandcamp
There is no such site for photobooks. Distribution of music is totally different from photography. Still new hotshot bands like Black Midi were signed with labels.
>>
>>4466141
That's like having an Instagram, not printing a photobook
>>
>>4466144
On bandcamp at least you can present your music in a dignified manner where you get your own page for an album and you can stylize the presentation of page and present everything in a structured manner.

How are you? How has your mental health been?
>>
The majority of people who get published because they are good started out as self published artists.

Going to a publisher first and succeeding is a strong nepotism/cocksucking/sellout/politically favorable trash indicator.

Any love for the Game Boy Camera and printer here?
Sure nowadays even the chinkest of cameras and printers may be better with printing via phone bigger and clearer photos but there's a certain charm and fun in doing with with a Game Boy of all things.

I enjoy the process of photographing quite a bit, I enjoy editing, I enjoy every stage of the photographic process. However, at the end of it all, I am left with a bunch of nice, edited photos, and they just sit unseen on my hard drive forever. What are other anons doing with their photos after they have something they are satisfied with?

Yeah I kept hitting it and twisting the lower ring on the same dial expecting it to be like a PASM dial, instead turns out you have to press it and the rear right scroll wheel next to the AF button. It was kinda annoying. Too many fucking buttons. The D780 I picked up was a lot more intuitive/easier to use. Pic related to see what I mean. I was pressing hold and twisting the ring on the same dial expecting that to change modes

AF also wasn't working when I half pressed the shutter only if I pressed the AF button but that could've been some retard reprogramming it while it was on display.
