Why are photography YouTubers so shit? They mostly churn out boring nontent while dressing like a copy of a copy of a copy of someone who thought he might closet cosplay Ansel Adams. Who are they aping?Almost all have the cadence and tone of a best buy sales associate either slowly conniving a golden HDMI cable sale or postponing their suicide on a Sunday evening only since their parents are still alive; with no in-between.I meet smarter and more interesting people IRL at camera club or local stores, so it's not as if this hobby is exclusively for people prescribed Klonopin and SSRIs.Half of them are just talking head slop direct to camera talking about what gear to buy (micro four nerds)The ones that do teardowns and repairs of gear are usually fine, but those aren't exactly photo videos at that point. The only guy that does the "video of taking photos" thing I can stand is Nick LoPresti since he doesn't talk like he's constipated, but lately the lack of constipation has become a problem since he's been diarrhea-shitting up my sub box with low-effort commentary videos sitting in front of a green screen. Idk who he's aping there, 2016 twitch? Don't like it, especially one where he and his wife are politisperging about shit like how "they can't use Google search for inane things because it'll track you" for what feels like several minutes.Snappiness may be my second favorite even though he looks and talks like a queer (he has kids so I guess he isn't technically). At least he does ridiculous things with cameras that are more interesting than "I walked and took a photo of something and had some ennui about it".Also, I hate gxAce with a passion, dead horse of a gimmick beaten into dust at this point. 80% of his videos serve no purpose to the modal viewer since they're just a rain-dance to the corporate marketing teams to get them to send him gear. (Also combining sloppy wet deep-throat glazing prose with an aloof tone is uniquely excruciating to listen to.)
>>4466379Absolute brainlet. Nowhere did I defend a company there, schizo, take your meds.
>>4466381Idk someone just said that companies curated their youtube channel and you went on a big seething rant containing a bunch of /pol/ thread derailing attempts so i just have a feeling that he's rightthat panasonic does fake their IBIS demos (i returned an s5ii on amazon and the IBIS wasn't as good as the videos showed... and other cameras i used, even the fucking a7c, were never as bad... hmm), canon doesnt want people pointing out their software bugs, nikon was insecure about their shitty autofocus, and sony is aware their colors suck shit
>>4466383>Seething stopped reading after that Keep crying about your larp. You can shit on cameras without pretending to get them for free. They're not that's expensive , you poorfag. You should take your meds. I still haven't defended any of those companies. You're hallucinating things that I've never said and projecting your seethe onto me
I have a YouTube channel and Leica never told me to say anything positive. No restrictions.t. youtuberI obviously won't identify myself and I've written this real story on 4chan now. So it's just true and I will shit my pants out of anger if you doubt the verisimilitude of my story .
>>4466384>your larpI didn't post that but you're very angry right now
>don't switch to a new mount in the digital transition so all your customers can still use their old film lenses>pride yourself for upholding true photographic tradition and having the finest lenses with the most "character">release the first full frame camera that can actually make full use of all those "sweet" 35mm pentax lenses in 2016, literally 10 years after the competition>in the meantime only make shitty APS-C kit zooms>Release your only monochrome camera for the true affecionados>It's APS-CWhy is this company such a joke?
>>4466350You mean Nikon before they went full videofag?
>>4466341There's literally a button that says "MODE" on the d850 kek
>>4466355We need a camera with a MOOD button I think.
>>4466355Yeah I kept hitting it and twisting the lower ring on the same dial expecting it to be like a PASM dial, instead turns out you have to press it and the rear right scroll wheel next to the AF button. It was kinda annoying. Too many fucking buttons. The D780 I picked up was a lot more intuitive/easier to use. Pic related to see what I mean. I was pressing hold and twisting the ring on the same dial expecting that to change modesAF also wasn't working when I half pressed the shutter only if I pressed the AF button but that could've been some retard reprogramming it while it was on display.
>>4466371you should be using bbf anyways
The shot is really great and i was wondering if there was a specific studio that makes these kinds of photos? I was thinking of Harcourt in Paris, but no online confirmation that Tyler was photographied there. Also which camera/gear can produce this kind of quality?
>>4466356not even with a tilt-shift lens?
>>4466358Definitely not. You can only change the angle of the focal plane. You cant shorten it or change the overall shape. It will always carry through the entirety of the image. Perspective shift wouldn't achieve something like that either. Falloff is also too sharp. Here's an example of using shallow DoF with front standard swing on 8x10.
wtf is with the nigger alien
>>4466351The gradiation of focus falloff above and below the eyes on the mask is clearly not real too
>>4466351Is it a chunk of background or is it fake grain THOUGH?>>4466373You know what American culture is really about
Any love for the Game Boy Camera and printer here?Sure nowadays even the chinkest of cameras and printers may be better with printing via phone bigger and clearer photos but there's a certain charm and fun in doing with with a Game Boy of all things.
>>4463072No, but it could still have been his camera, since the camera roll ends there.Could have been a friend or sibling taking it.
Mine had photos from the previous owner, seems like a cool guy. I hope he's doing fine.

I am saddened by what this thread has becum.
I want to film a Timelapse of a plane trail, contrail, chemtrail, whatever it may be. Just to show that they are turning clear sunny days, into a haze. Not quite overcast but a light haze enough to cover the entire sky. I have witnessed trails starting small; as you would see coming from the plane, and slowly grow and grow. They don’t disappear; just getting wider and wider until it all blends into one big hazy sky.I’m going to assume wide angle is the best lens.As for location is the top of mountain going to be my best bet? W
>>4465755Look up operation sea spray also. A little different, but still extremely cringe for the us govt to do.
>>4465664ME HEREWell it could be anything and it certainly isnt healthy. Point is it ruins nice clear days... my friend is convinced anything from planes can make a clear day hazy. so the point is to show they can
>>4465756>>4466158Aircraft exhaust is already a cloud seeding technique whether intended or not. If a jet flies at high altitudes, it creates new cirrus clouds. Every single time. There is no conspiracy needed. It's basic meteorology. The people planning flight paths might know this and care, or some combination of know/dont know/care/dont care. Cirrus clouds trap heat.
>>4466158Almost everyday...
>>4465749>what you are seeing is burnt avgas mixed with condensationAnon, jets don't use avgas. They use something very similar to kerosin called simply TS-1.
So is everyone using Lightroom or what? I already have Affinity 2 and would like something with a permanent license for library as well.
>>4466195From where I'm standing, RT has borderline unusable file browser - that's true. The fact that they refuse to implement a normal image preview, like it exists in every other editing program is just beyond me. ART actually tries to fix that. Otherwise, I think the editor is good.
>>4466263there are several ways to do highlight recovery, I never had an issue getting highlight detail backuse either tone equalizer or color balance rgb and use the brilliance gradingyou can use masks to only affect the sky or the upper luninance ranges, if neededyou could also just make a 2nd exposure module, then make a mask for the highlight areas
>>4466190The right stick looks like that because it's moving upwards from a frontal perspective at 1/60", but the picture was taken with the mechanical shutter.

>>4466195>>4466279Well, ok, also the crop tool in RT is kinda bad.
Any last words?
>>4463104Post your best photo and worst photo
OP all of you suspicions are right. Photography is greatest art medium but there is no money in it. I would suggest you to slide into film or painting. In both of these fields you can have a career and recognition for your work. I know utterly dog shit painters who live through by exhibiting their artwork. In comparison I know many good photographers stuck in dead end jobs and living in poverty. Irony is that they don't even get their share of recognition. You can try your hand at fashion/editorial type shit. Or do wedding photography. But these art mediums are not fulfilling and leave you with blue balls.
B A S E DASEDYou should kill yourself too.
>>4463104Photography is dead thanks to digital cameras and the internet. The era before internet and fully mechanical film slr's was the golden age of photography. The digital age is by far the worst age to live in. We have to go back to an analog world.
>>4466204Film and analog printing methods are even more special now that less people are using them.

solitary! sandpiper! real flighty. did not walk close.
This is the post for stupid questions that don't deserve their own thread.
>>4466184Not really and no. My use case is high ISO low light shots since I don't dabble with manual settings and tripods too much.
>>4466084Closed cell PE foam? It's relatively cheap and not prone to turn into sticky mush.Get a sheet of of foam to glue inside of cover and a block of foam which fills rest of the case. Arrange everything you want to store on block and trace and cut out shapes deep enough items will be flush with foam block.
>>4466084I'd go with some felt or flocking personally. I've done something similar with a hard-drive case in the past and it's doable just make sure if you get the self-adhesive stuff that it's heavy duty or "jewelry grade" or whatever the fuck. Flocking alone would not provide much in the way of cushioning but you could fill it out with a lining for foam first.
>>4466183I use Topaz Photo + Video, good for enlarging and NR, the face reconstruction can be nice tooI don't use it as much as I thought I would, but it has been nice to haveI can run some examples through it if you have any to postVideo I pretty much just use for upscaling old videos, don't really use it for any actual video work I do.
>constructive interference in out-of-focus areaneat but also a little annoying
What are your setups? Which products can you recommend? And wtf are the bastards from negative supply snorting to justify their pricing?speaking of: Does anyone have the STLs from tonecarrier? I am a poor bastard and want to try them out. other than that, I had no luck with the free printables you find on thingyverse etc.
And finally, this stupid lil' guy. I think an apt name would be film destroyer 9000. I need to return to this as I do have a lot of negatives to scan. It's more of a prototype of what became the slide scanner.Important things to learn from this: - Horizontal mounting of the camera is bad because even if your mount is very firm, it seems like the internal lens elements have a bit of sag or something that causes pitch to be an issue. This wasn't as much of a problem for the slide scanner as that was all done at a much smaller aperture. - The backlight is basically the same except I used WS2811 addressable LED strip, it turns out these chips start behaving oddly when they warm up which meant calibrating the channels was a huge PITA. - I used a Pi to control the stepper. This was what caused any damage to the film as the software-controlled stepping was too rough. - Adjusting the focus by screw rail is much easer than using the lens ring.
