that's a good point actually, pretty funny

footballers are considered weak here, even the tall ones are skinny and not very intimidating (with some exceptions). but the fans are mental
>>
>>154083202
It's not that non-violent. I dare you to visit an average amateur league game. Basketball is less violent, volleyball is less violent, cricket and field hockey are less violent, any non-team sport that isn't martial arts is less violent. I don't know enough about baseball, but it seems less violent as well and is structurally less violent for sure
The thing with football is that it's the most popular sport on the planet and (despite some efforts) very accessible, so you are bound to have some deranged and violent fans just because so many people are involved. When there's a ruckus at a Bundesliga game, the wannabe intellectuals not interested in sports say "oh, look at all these violent football fans" when the amount of people they mean is like 100 in a stadium of 60,000
>>
i think its because they offer the plebs a collective identity which gives them some sort of meaning in life
also football in europe is the most corrupt sport. literal criminals will buy football clubs just to get thousands of cult members-uh i mean sports fans- to defend their shady shit. like here for example AEK president murdered a journalist, PAOK's is a member of United Russia, Olympiacos's is a smuggler etc
not to mention how clubs can influence elections, like verona in italy being neo nazi, zvezda being communist etc. Politicians use them for easy votes
>>
>>154088039
What teams are older than 1868? The first year of professional baseball was '69. None of the teams from that first season still exist, but the Braves, Phillies, and Cubs were all founded and have existed since 1870 or 71. There's like six English clubs that are older than that, but I wouldn't exactly say that Chesterfield or Notts County are all that popular. Even Forest isn't exactly a Liverpool or Real Madrid.

This is in sudden death OT so pretty much what I expected on a cheeky bet.

Have another pick for swiss hockey tomorrow:
Geneva vs Lausanne, it's another game 7 of a best of 7 series, Lausanne won twice in Geneva. The 2-way(including OT) on Lausanne @2.50 is a solid pick(3/10) or cheeky fiver combo filler.
Other cheeky bets I like is the over 8.5 @6.50(1/10) just because it's a do or die game.

>different ethnicities

Genetic Testing has shown that all four groups have the exact same origin (originally starting around Czechoslavia, before moving south into Magyar, Germanic and Illyrian territory).

>different religions

Religion is not a legitimate basis of Nationality, otherwise the Northern Dutch and the Lowlands Dutch would be separate Nationalities (Bavarians VS Rhinelanders, Hugenots, etc.)

>different alphabets

What you mean is different scripts. Just because "Serbian" uses a Cyrillic Script and Croatian uses a Latin Script, does not stop Mainstream Linguists from using the term "Serbo-Croat", nor does it stop your local dialect being mutually intelligible with other dialects.

>different inner and outer politics of the nations

The fact of the matter is that Tito was a Chauvanistic who was simultaneously scared of Islam, which is why he gave you an Internal Republic with a tiny majority of Muslims (that being said, he gave Orthodox Christians two SSRs because he was afraid of them even more).

Bosnia was never a Nation. Neither was Serbia, Croatia or Montenegro.

Humourously, the perfect control experiment lied just to the south in the form of Albania.

You had Bektashi Muslims who identified more with Turkey, Orthodox who identified more with Serbs and Catholics who identified more with Italians.

Hoxha put an end to all this shit with the help of Pashko Vasa (pic related).

Why couldn't Tito accomplish what Hoxha accomplish? Because you coddled and pampered the religious orders rather than suppressing them.

Now, you falsely believe that your religion is your Nationality like Daniel O'Connell.

Croats and Serbs have literally always been different nations, despite having the same religion until the 13th century. Muslims and Montenegrins were created by Turkish and communist engineering, fake nations. It was easy to unite Albanians because they were bound by language, Croats and Serbs were bound by nothing except a similar language. This way Albanians were described is similar to how a Croatian aristocrat/politician/historian satirically described Croats in the 19th century: 'we are a bit Slavs, a bit Germanics, a bit Latins, and to tell you the truth - we are nothing at all'. Croatia is extremely heterogeneous within itself, but why can Croatia exist but not Yugoslavia? Because one nation, apart from language, is bound by common myths about the past, culture, territory and vision of the future, the way they see themselves. Croats, no matter how different they are, have all of that. The fictitious Yugoslavs do not. And that is why it cannot exist.

>Croats and Serbs have literally always been different nations

You literally started out as the exact same people, speaking proto-West Slavic, moving down from modern day Bohemia into lands that were occupied by Germanics, Ilryians and Magyars.

This is how you became South Slavs, largely homogenic, with an early deviation from the proto-Slovenians.

>despite having the same religion until the 13th century

Religion doesn't matter, as religion is not the basis of Nationhood.

>Muslims and Montenegrins were created by Turkish and communist engineering, fake nations. It was easy to unite Albanians because they were bound by language, Croats and Serbs were bound by nothing except a similar language.

I would hope that an Independent Observer can observe this and cut through the Balkan Bullshit.
