Can't see Potter coming back like that and I don't think they will go for a foreign coach.

Pretty sure Southgate extends unless England crash out in group stages (very possible).

I rate him higher than 10-hag.
He can actually talk about football in a clear way, the achievements are very impressive seeing where Feyenoord came from.
In Europe he had good results but has the misfortune of drawing AS Roma three times in a row.
Playstyle very recognizable and he seems very obsessed with his job.
I would not let him dictate your transfer policy is all. The Dutch like to make the same mistake in buying previous players.
But that said Hancko is fucking great. I would buy him.

>It is not about clear and obvious when it comes to offsides.

>>140320128
This is how it will end. Liverpool and Arsenal can win how many of their remaining games they want with how many goals they want. They could also lose every game. It will not change the fact that Man City will end as winners of the PL.
>>
>>140320180
Why do you ask? I think I am pretty clear. It works the same as goal line technology. Fouls get changed if they are clear and obvious (how it is supposed to work at least) but not offside. There you are either on or off.

It’s clear and obvious that Arsenal aren’t winning a trophy this season

you're "detained for questioning" prior to an arrested
>>
>>140320904
American police need probable cause to make an arrest, but in the United Kingdom, officers can arrest on suspicion
Copied that from Google but that's basically the difference
There's also a vast difference in libel law between the two countries, where in the UK the defendant has to prove it's true whereas in the US the plaintiff has to prove it's false (obviously very difficult)

Worst part about Ipswich getting promoted would be that the camera will keep switching to Ed Sheeran every time the ball goes out of play.

marc cucurella, 25, signed for 62 million from Brighton
ben white, 26, signed for 50 million for Brighton

the difference between these two players is crazy. Cucurella got bullied by Havertz today. he looked weak, slow, lost every duel. his positioning was ok, but he was basically standing still as a LCB in the box.

ben white dominated the game. got forward and contributed to the forward play. scoring twice was amazing of course, but everything about him is just a much superior footballer. it's a real shame he's not involved in the national team. probably good enough to start centre back for England.

I was surprised that he was so highly rated and Arteta broke Arsenal's defensive record by such a high amount for him. but over time he's proven it to be worth every penny. perfect all-round ball playing defender. the only criticism you can give him in the last 2 seasons is sometimes he's looked tired (e.g. end of 2023, he was off the pace).

>>140321510

not justifying the fee. but Man City had agreed a deal with Cucurella as well, Brighton raised the price. I think people thought it was ok because Pep also wanted him.

Ignoring the fact that they've won zero trophies in recent memory, Spurs have done an objectively good job closing the financial gap on the old "big 4" and turning into a "big 6" (along with City, who used oil money, during a period where there were fewer restrictions on spending, to accomplish the same goal). There's no reason why clubs like West Ham, Aston Villa and Newcastle can't join that group too, even though FFP rules are designed to try and stop the "smaller clubs" from catching up to the "big clubs".

The point is that Spurs have built a good foundation to assemble a serious team that might actually win something. They're past the point of needing to sell any decent player when another bigger club comes knocking. Whether they will ever win anything is a completely different question, especially given how tough the competition is at the very top. But they've come a long way from the "lad's it's Tottenham" era, and clubs are now treating their league matches against Tottenham as a serious fixture rather than an easy 3 points.

And to bring the topic back to West Ham, everyone expected Rice to eventually leave West Ham because he was considered too good for a mid-table club. They've had to do the same in the past for players like Rio Ferdinand, Tevez and Carrick. If West Ham continue to improve then they might no longer need to do that.

>Spurs have built a good foundation to assemble a serious team that might actually win something.

Not him but I disagree.
They had the chance to establish a new history. They had their greatest ever team from 2015-19. They achieved nothing except a runner up place in the worst CL final in the modern era.

Kane, Eriksen left Spurs in search of trophies. Son the only one from that great team who stuck around. Spurs can sign tier 2 players or they can sign prospects and then them into world class players. But they will not attract the best players in world football. Players continue to see Spurs as a stepping stone, but ultimately still one step below the big boys.

Even right now, Spurs spent 250m last summer. It doesn't get spoke about much but you can't see too much quality in that spurs team. Maddison started the season great, Van de Ven solid addition.

Spurs definetley closed the gap between themselves and Arsenal/Chelsea in terms of the size of the club, it's money, sponsorships, reach. But I don't think they have progressed too much as a team. They are now a side you will have down as a regular 4th-7th place trophyless. They were in a similar position 25 years ago.

Spurs' project is bad but Man United and Chelsea crumbling takes the pressure off. Spurs are another team who could fall behind a Villa or a Newcastle.

Even the Big Four wasn't, pre-PL it comfortably had Everton in there.
They kept their place when the PL was founded, with Spurs added (largely due to David Dein's insistance) to kickstart the foundation of it, being known as the Big Five. The term "Big Four" resurrected around Roman's takeover to include Chelsea in place of Everton and Spurs' spots.

If De Zerbi says no they’ll try to gazump Liverpool
>>
>>140333248
Realistically, Chelsea need at least 3 seasons of mediocrity before they might accomplish anything worthwhile. But Chelsea fans are too entitled to put up with anything that isn't overnight success. The only managers who they might be patient with are Tuchel and Mourinho, but I don't think either will want to come back to the club given how much of a shitshow the club is off the pitch.
>>
I'm honestly clueless as to why is the Liverpool job isn't appealing to better managers than Arne Slot. Not a Liverpool fan but I don't hate them either so I'm asking both their fans and loathers.
Liverpool have clearly been after Amorim (at least) and seem to have been SNUBBED by him but the club is decent enough that he should've been interested.
>>
>>140333532
Amorim plays 3-4-3. Liverpool would have to uproot their entire squad for him. Slot basically plays the exact same way as Klopp.
>>
>>140333553
>Liverpool would have to uproot their entire squad for him
Do you not think though that there are clearly players who are leaving once Klopp does, regardless of who comes it? A rebuild of sorts feels inevitable, be it small or large.

You don't really want TAA going up and down though do you? You want him drifting into the middle. Honestly Bradley would be a better fit for Amorim's system.
>>
>Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi says Adam Webster is available to play against Man City, but Pervis Estupinan is out for the rest of the season
>>
>>140333615
Robertson is getting old and Trent isn't really a fast pacey wingback so its not in either of their strengths. Under Amorim I'd see trent as either a DM or some kind of sweeper
>>
>>140333586
The Liverpool job should be so exciting that unavailable managers would be willing to leave clubs to join them. They clearly aren't and that's very odd.

>I'm honestly clueless as to why is the Liverpool job isn't appealing to better managers than Arne Slot.

it's because of the squad the coach will inherit.
the key players are Salah, Van Dijk, Alisson; all over 30. Salah/VVD might be out this summer.
players like jones, elliot, gomez who fill up the liverpool squad are not very good.
the midfield has already been rebuilt, but Mac Allistar is the only world class player.
some big signings like Gakpo and Nunez haven't fired as expected.

the squad is very uneven; good attacking depth, but poor numbers in defence and midfield. the players are there to play in a 4-3-3 system, there isn't much versatility in that sense.

FSG are not going to spend a lot of money on reinvestment. maybe the coach will get like 200m, maybe it will depend on sales.
Klopp has done well with the group this year, but they aren't a very good squad. I don't think many coaches will rate that group. This liverpool project is on the way out
>>
>>140334098
It's odd to me that ANY manager - meaning one which we've heard of - would consider Chelsea. Their financial status is muddy at best, no Europe realistically on the horizon.
They're even at the point where have to turn down a Europa Conference League spot IF they even qualify because UEFA's FFP is stricter than the PL's - any acceptance into a UEFA competition would automatically see them banned from Europe for several seasons. Robbing Peter to pay Paul doesn't cover it.
>>
>>140334043
Only brainlets think injuries are a completely luck-based factor. One of the marks of a good manager and coaching/medical staff is being able to balance a player's fitness with the tight schedule. Plus how injury prone a player is should be a significant factor when a club signs a player.

Klopp's not very good on transfers, hence why Liverpool haven't been as good the past couple of years. Edwards is the one that bought in the majority of Liverpool's good players. Since Alonso announced he's staying and Nagelsmann renewed with Germany, Rangnick became Bayern's first choice somehow. This has been all but confirmed for a while. >>
>>140334578
I don't think any elite coach would currently want to go and manage; Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Man Utd, Chelsea, Spurs and maybe PSG.

It's not just that they are tough jobs. These clubs go through too many managers. Surviving more than 2 years in any position is an achievement. Their squads are probably not strong enough either to make the jobs worth taking on.

As for Kane, I think the Ballon D'or shouts are a bit overhyped. lets see what he does in the rest of the CL and the euros.
>>
>>140334713
zinchenko is fucking dogshit, so any other available lb would start ahead of him
>>
>>140334355
>>140334713
Arteta made it clear start of the season that Timber was first choice left back. he started there in the community shield and in the first game of the season. Think he played there pre-season too.

Timber starting at left-back coincided with Tierney being loaned out to Real Sociedad. Arteta has shown over this season he doesn't trust Zinchenko. The LB spot has been rotated (Kiwior, Tomiyasu, Zinchenko) but Kiwior has generally been first choice.

If Timber has an Arsenal career it will be at left back, but that injury will be tough to come back from.
>>

Klopp doesn't have as much influence at Liverpool as Fergie did at United, or even Wenger at Arsenal. Klopp has overperformed with this season's squad through the power of friendship, but they need a lot less work to be competing for major honours again. It might take some time for the new manager to build a proper relationship with the fans, but current Liverpool fans are far less entitled than post-Fergie United fans and far less frustrated than post-Wenger Arsenal fans. So I'm assuming they'll be patient if the successor doesn't hit the ground running.
