It's not just the second apron rules. The league was always going to come to this. It's all a product of the meme shot. When the meme shot wasn't king, and 2s were the thing to get, you needed to have some combination of size, skill, and athleticism to get quality shots for you and your team because of how tight space was. Curry's Warriors showed how important the meme shot was and that 3>2. Once the meme shot became dominant, the old concept of what a star was wasn't enough. Now all 5 players must be able to do the same exact things because creating meme shots and defending meme shots in a full team effort. Some old schools teams that revolve around a star or 2 still exist and are successful only because the league's skills haven't fully caught up to this new standard yet.
