And then the penalty was nearly saved too.

Also Liechtenstein have lost twice to San Marino, giving them their first ever win and their first ever competitive win. The funny thing is, they, San Marino and Gibraltar are in a group of three all on their own. One will get out to the next level (usually Gibraltar).

would norn imbalance the micronations group? i know nothing about football in norn but i assume even someone from their reserves would be like prime rivaldo in that group
>>
>>144221406
True, it was only a friendly. Gibraltar play Liechtenstein next. Actually in three days. I assume San Marino will play a friendly. Almost feels like this group should have a fourth member. I am not sure who. I know Jersey tried to apply for proper FIFA ranking but got told they weren't good enough. There are no micronations around that could make up the 4th unless you let in somebody like Aaland, Guernsey, Jersey or Isle of Man. You can't even do a Channel Island team because Guernsey and Jersey have a meme rivalry, so they'd never accept a joint team which MIGHT be acceptable enough for FIFA. Seeing as how Jersey can't even dominate the Island Games Cup then they're probably not going to get it any time soon.

Ah. That'll explain it. They really do need another two micronations to make the Group D's fair. Russia isn't a micronation and while you could push a team down they'd probably dominate. If Isle of Man, Guernsey or Jersey could improve, they could probably fill it. But FIFA has some meme about 'competitive quality' or something which is daft because San Marino exist.

Can't happen any more, the rules have been changed since Gibraltar joined. Jersey were refused 6 years ago: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/43183023

>While neither Gibraltar nor the Faroe Islands are nations in their own right, they both applied before Uefa changed their rules in 2007 to only accept sovereign states recognised by the United Nations.
>>
>>144221644
That's fucking DUMB. The Channel Islands are that, however. They are Crown Dependencies. They have their own government and rules, they do their own shit for example, if you try to get to the site yts.mx on a UK IP, you'll get a High Court Order message, but not in Jersey because they're not part of the UK. They're just protected by the UK. They are signed separately on treaties and infamously Isle of Man was not mentioned on the treaty with the official surrender of Nazi Germany until somebody realised in the 70's and I believe the Isle of Man diplomat said something like
>The German people can now sleep soundly tonight knowing they are at peace with the Isle of Man
or something like that. I think it is a bit harsh when you got Anguilla and other British territories in. I mean the best way they can do it is become incredibly dominant.

I mean I can understand but shouldn't sport be less about that and more about.. just having a roight laff? I know there are other issues, from cost of actually running an international football team to the impact of having games played there or abroad, the impact of the league, quality of play and stuff...

I do have a soft spot for that period... I don't really care which clubs are in the Prem* or not, but watching early- to mid-90s top flight, it just felt like it wasn't even the same sport. Probably because there had yet to be any big post-Bosman transfers and the windfall from TV rights was taking time to effect, but I think there were a lot of little things that made it feel more local and less... Americanised.

Had a good read over the Scotland loss by the BBC Head of Sport, Scotland... Tom English. He does write fun articles. I do find it funny how Scottish players often play really well for Scotland but aren't as good for their clubs. See McSauce and Tierney.

I mean it won't be as embarrassing as Carsley losing/drawing with Ireland tomorrow, but still.

Bellingham could be good if he wasn't so arrogant. Also he is forever injured these days. Foden can at least play where Bellingham would atm. I am not entirely sure who could fix the midfield if you think that is the issue. England do need a proper DM and that isn't Rice or Mainoo. We need an Ince. Well, really, we need a Kante or Rodri but England eligible and that isn't happening.

Two weeks ago he started the process to switch, apparently. Be interesting to see if he does. The guy could break the top scorer record pretty easily. 35 by Luton Shelton. He's 22 and would not be playing top top teams constantly. Should be good enough to score against Grenada and Cuba and Trinidad and Tobago.

Alright. Here is my tactics.
>>
>>144235242
>I am not entirely sure who could fix the midfield if you think that is the issue.
My two biggest issues are England's poor midfield that has neither identity nor confidence, and the lack of progression at the back. Pebbles is a shoe-in for England because he's the only defensive player capable with his feet and we overlook a lot of his mistakes for that reason. Pope is one of the best shot-stoppers in the world (or was before his injury) but his progression is below pub league level and it simply isn't an option against top sides. When I no longer see Pickford hoofing it to the centre line I'll feel much more optimistic about England, but I suspect it's going to be a long wait.
>>
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2024/09/05/morgan-gibbs-white-support-lee-carsley-england-job/
>Lee Carsley has growing support to become England manager on a full-time basis and has been described as the “perfect man for the job”.

>Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White was among the first call-ups and he says Carsley’s tactics and man-management make him suited to the role.
>>
>>144235824
Honestly would be fine with Pickford hoofing it if England had some gigachad up front able to win the ball and hold onto it. England hasn't had a consistent head scoring striker for awhile. Yeah, Kane scores them, but he's just a good all rounder (but disappears a lot). England are easy to defend against because you know what they'll do and who'll pick. If you had lets say the love child of Dario Hubner and Andy Carroll on the bench, then you could actually make the opposition worry at the 70 min mark when they've kept your starter quiet all game. But under Southgate, it was the same tactics, same team and same inability to switch it up. Italy game and Spain game showed England have no Plan B. Netherlands was won by luck. I've said this before about England having no Plan B. Why there are no good England eligible strikers who can hold up the ball and score I don't know. Nketiah can do the hold up but can't hit a barn door (yet last year scored a hattrick with a blooter and then did nothing after). You got a lot of young talents coming through but none of them are huge gigachads that could hold up the ball, win 9/10 headers, score buckets of set piece goals and generally be a nuisance.

Oh we talking about Bellingham, time to bring out the article from when Dortmund bottled the league in the final matchday before he left for Real:

>However, German newspaper Bild reported in August 2023 that not everyone at the Westfalenstadion shared that sentiment, with some 'glad to see the back of him'. Bellingham - who joined Dortmund at 17 and spent three years at the club - left under a minor cloud amid rumours of some team-mates developing a dislike for certain traits he exhibited.
>One point of contention was reportedly Bellingham's habit of basking in the fans' adoration after the rest of the squad had departed, particularly following Erling Haaland's move to Manchester City in 2022. It was suggested Bellingham would regularly hang back instead of joining the squad for celebrations, then soak up celebrations on his own.
>Another alleged issue was a perceived lack of respect towards team-mates and his choice of language. Most notably, an incident was highlighted where he criticised Nico Schulz in very strong fashion during a match against Rangers in 2022.
>Despite being fast-tracked into Dortmund's leadership group, some players felt Bellingham wasn't quite up to the task. Bild reported he wasn't always available as a point of contact for his colleagues, but club officials like Sebastian Kehl refrained from reprimanding him for fear it might jeopardise his move to Madrid.
>>
>>144233896
>The fawning over the period the Premier League was sponsored by Barclays is a bit odd.

Barclays is still the Prems main sponsor.
Prem dropped the naming rights to allow more foreign/big money sponsors.
>>
>>144235950
Yeah. The guy is clearly arrogant and retarded. It's why he isn't going to make it. Ronaldo was arrogant and narcissitic but he put in the work to be good. You need a bit of it to be good. But Bellingham thinks he is the new Zidane. He played in Dortmund, which is the 2nd best team in a one horse league (Leverkusen memeing a Invincible doesn't count) so he was going to do well and now he's at Madrid surrounded by good players so you expect him to do well. He was useless in the Euros outside of a clutch goal he scored simply because he was just wanting to fuck about. Lucky, but the way he reacted showed how arrogant he is. Doing the 'yapping' hand motion. Fuck off retard, you've been useless, scoring your 2nd goal of the tournament against the Swiss shouldn't be held up as an amazing moment. You should have done that earlier. It isn't ALL Southgate's and Holland's fault.

I dunno how he can be fixed because calling him out is essentially impossible in England because he's black.
>>
>>144235907
Kane has been a huge problem for ages now. And honestly I don't know what the answer is. It's easy to rant but in the real world a player with a >1 goal per game average in a top league is non-droppable short of injury, it simply isn't happening. So what do you do with Kane? If it were up to me either try giving him a strike partner for a few fixtures again or drop him down to a 10 (not joking). Put Bellingham in front even. Also, giving him the captaincy was a big mistake and again, there's really nothing we can do about it. Kane has many qualities but it's obvious he's not a captain. England is desperate for leadership and Trips and Walker are gone. My instinct is Rice will be the next captain and there's another headache as I could write a novel on how Rice is misplayed for England.
>>
>>144236016
I meant as the clearly branded sponsor of the league.
>>
>>144236068
The obvious answer is simply to hire a non shit manager
Kane is brilliant everywhere other than under Southgate
>>
>>144236068
Rice should be the No.8. But he isn't. He should be the captain, yeah. He actually talks to players. I can't think of anybody else bar Stones. Maguire maybe but they're both 'old' so Rice is the most logical one. Then again TAA is back at RB so it might be him or Pickford.

Kane is a good player but he shouldn't be playing as a lone striker. Play him as the No.10 and put Watkins ahead of him.
>>
literally and i mean literally who gives a fuck about international football outside of major tournaments
>>
>>144235326
the fact that nobody gives a shite about them has mentally damaged them
>>
>>144236146
People who want the team to do well at international major tournaments and doing that requires groundwork to be made two years beforehand? And that England has managed two finals in a row but lost both of them and therefore should be looking to actually win one? That England is never going to get such easy routes again and therefore should prepare for this eventuality by making the team actually good and not relying on luck or individual players bailing them out?

Or is this a 'nationalism and patriotism bad' type thing?
>>
>>144235950

>>

>>

English national team follows club football, it's extremely rare a player excels in a role whilst not starring for club.

Arteta signed Merino who is 6 or 8. Arsenal trajectory for Rice seems to be 8, b2b. If that sticks at Arsenal he will probably move there for England too.

Personally I think England and Southgate got it wrong he's clearly not a 6. Even at West Ham Soucek was playing behind him and Moyes' comments confirm that Rice himself doesn't like being deepest player in midfield. You lose his best quality, driving runs in middle. Also Rice had 8 goals 8 assists last season not bad at all.

>>
>>144238165
Oh man I've heard so many stories of suppressed sneezes popping blood vessels in the head. Like, years ago even. Have never once even thought about suppressing my sneezes since I hit the age of like 14.
My two big issues is when I haven't eaten anything in a while or just finished a workout and then I sneeze. It feels like something is just inches away from snapping in my torso and sides. It doesn't really hurt but it gives me a sense of foreboding. The other issue being a machine gun sneezer. I've sneezed so much non-stop that I've genuinely thought that I'd die from not being able to breathe properly. Even though you're taking in a tiny bit of air right before you sneeze, when you do it so much in quick succession it feels like you're not breathing at all. It's scary as shit.

Yeah I stopped suppressing them too because of it. Used to watch lots of those bizarre death shows when I was high and it sent my paranoia through the roof.
I know what you mean with the sneezing after a workout too. Always feels like I've pulled a muscle in my side if it's a real strong one.
It's coughing with me for thinking I'm going to die and can't breathe. Recently I would wake up with a sort of dry tickly cough and it just wouldn't stop. I usually reach the vomiting stage before I pass out from lack of air with coughing though.

I go for a walk now and am confronted with Africans a hooterin and a hollering or playing music out loud as they walk down the street. Bet the rest of what I'm used to is gone in ten years.

>England do not have another No 9 in their squad after Ollie Watkins withdrew and Carsley left out Ivan Toney, who has since completed a move to Al-Ahli. The Netherlands coach, Ronald Koeman, said this week the door was closed on Steven Bergwijn’s international career after the forward’s move to the Saudi Pro League but Carsley said he would like to watch Toney in action before deciding whether to call him up.

>“As an interim head coach I don’t think I can rule anyone in or out,” he said. “It would be really interesting to go out and see Ivan play and see the level and see the tempo and see the standard. We’ve got access to the games so I’ll definitely be following his progression out there.

>“It would be good to go and see an actual live game to get a feel of the atmosphere and the pace of the game because sometimes you don’t quite get that on a video. But yes, he’s definitely not ruled out. We have to be mindful. I’ve got a perception of the football out there but I’ve not been out there and seen it. So I think it would be reckless to rule somebody in or out.”

He has currently managed zero senior matches. Maybe it's naive to think the FA were even going to bother interviewing anyone else.

>>
>>144259141
They just want ragebait with the Irish when we should be uniting with the Irish against the EU for using them as a pawn in their manipulative game. But can't have that. I don't want Carsley in charge because I don't think he is a good manager and I am NOT liking this trend of
>U21 Manager
>Promote to Seniors
>Just wing it with talent that under a good manager would likely win something
I know England aren't getting Pep. I know they won't get a top coach. But there must be somebody out there they can interview who has sat down and gone 'Yeah I think X Y Z are the key spine of this team for the next 6-8 years and with Q R S T we can do really well and I think our main strengths are 1 2 3 so we should play 1 2 3 tactics!'

Instead Carsley is in charge because they either couldn't get a top guy or they want another yes man because if you promote an u21 to senior he's going to be grateful just like Southgate was..... The other much more likely is they're fucking clueless, incompetent and don't want England to be successful because being forever bridesmaids creates a tasty narrative for commercial success. Same shit with Rugby. Win a World Cup, come close 2-3 times since but never do it, but because of that ONE WIN, people will keep going and hoping they'll win it again this time. Same for cricket. Neither actually wants England to win, be top and be dominant and record holders because that isn't financially positive because English/Brits are slammed i n for the past 40 years that being English/British is bad and we should pay for our sins and we shouldn't try to be exceptional. Which is why we're full of fat chainsmoking ugly fucks now.

they were second strikers who had two dms or a fullback screening for them at their respective clubs, you'd see them run past the forwards to score goals then run back to do a tackle whilst hamman/alonso or essien/makelele were the wall and creating progression behind them. what's amusing is that england is doing this again by trying to turn a natural 8 into a 6 because basically we don't produce 6s
>>
>>144259812
Yep. Arsenal are retarded when making signings, who knew! Clearly needed a striker and bought a guy they kinda needed but should have been way behind other slots. According to Fabrizo it's because Sesko stayed that they went to Calafiori.
>>
>>144259806
>>144259872
don't second strikers count as attacking midfielders? i mean i get your point and i watched them play and that and fully agree they weren't really cut out for the midfield in that regard. as for not producing 6s, i think we do, but it isn't glamorous so players either fall out of love of the position or aren't picked.

I mean Nketiah is absolute garbage beside that hatrick he scored which for a brief moment made me concerned he had been unlocked and Arsenal were going to actually be a threat. Thankfully he did what I expected him to do and didn't replicate it at all after. The fact they got £30m for him is amazing. Every time they say
>Oh no need for a striker, Jesus is coming back
And then he gets injured. Guy doesn't even play Int games. He's also not able to score. They also weirdly loaned out Vieira when their midfield is basically devoid of depth, doubly so when the guy played as a RW for Porto and I assume is playing for them there as well now. He could have been the back-up for Saka.

Whatever. City have won the league anyway. Only Liverpool can challenge them. Maybe Villa.

Well as Southgate said, don't have a natural replace for Phillips (Phillips hasn't gone anywhere, he's just shit). Rice should be the 'No.8'. Or, using FM terms, 'box-to-box midfielder'. He is much better on the attack. But for England he is told to retrieve, resist and recycle. Which means he is absolutely useless in the attack. Which would be fine with the likes of Bellingham, Foden, Palmer and Kane, right? Lol. Mainoo doesn't attack enough to justify his complete lack of defensive ability. Wharton should be given a chance. Gallagher isn't the solution. Kane should be a 'No.10' and Watkins should be the striker.

Won't happen. Watch the exact same formation, exact same tactics and exact same subs. Only difference will be whomst'eve've is playing where and who is playing wheren't.

rice has superb recovery and pass accuracy which led southgate and steve holland (more likely holland) into thinking he'd excel there. but rice also really, really likes to move all the way up the pitch, fast. in fact over a third of those recoveries are in the opposition's half. he is not a progressive visionary, he doesn't like to build up, he likes to drive and press hard, and in turn he doesn't like to be pressed. rice as a dlp is in a way the worst choice as you're obviating his best qualities and trying to turn a very physical player into a technical one. you can see his palpable frustration in almost every england fixture, the body language alone gives it away.

randomly thinking a heavily rotated side ten Hag can play against Twente around 3 weeks to go
the empty players are Amass at LB and Collyer at pivot with Ugarte because they're not in the database just yet
think the back 4 is kinda okay for a rotated side but i think Dalot/Mazraoui will start anyway and Amass can be tried here with little to no pressure althought won't be surprised if fit Shaw plays there to build up some momentum.
not sure with the pivot but at least Collyer should start here, the frontline is pretty worrying before >antony and Garnacho are rather selfish so hopefully Eriksen can provide some sneaky passes for Hojlund.

Think you read that wrong. The Irish team has six players born in England playing for them and one Nigerian. There has been a huge PR meme from the English media asking the Irish how they feel about Grealish, Rice and Kane playing for England when they could have played for Ireland. They say they don't care and only care about the Irish players. There was also a thing about Evan Ferguson declaring for England because his mother is English but the Irish threw a fit and said he bled green and was a true son of Ireland and then well, they go and grab players from England.

this manlet
been reading so many takes from Man United fans that they want to re-sign him on free and my first thought, alright do United need some diminutive midfielder (he's like 167-168cm) with some good playmaking skill but offers nothing else? he'll just be a bench player at United.

Chelsea is owned by an equity fund holding 60% (led by eghbali) and 3 other billionaires holding about 40% of chelsea. Most chelsea memes point to boehly but it seems the club is actually run by the other guy. So it seems they want to buy each other out

You need to watch that game back. He's a shit goalkeeper but he wasn't really at fault for them. Slopping passing and being dispossessed too easily was the cause. The players look bored and uncaring. Like they knew they're being picked or not. Swap Pickford for Ramsdale and the game is still lost.

He's good but his shot was fucking terrible. One on one and he hits it at the GK. He's just lucky that Kane took a shot, Saka tried and Rice blooted it in. He did make the left side a viable fucking route, but in 2nd half the ball went totally down the right and Bowen should have scored, Kane should have scored, Saka should have scored and Eze should have scored (he had time to chest that down and shoot).
