>I feel like you're not giving Madrimovs excellent feinting the credit it deserves.
yes this is something i shouldve mentioned more in my scoring, I only really noticed how much feinting and hand movement he was utilising around the last quarter of the fight when i was rewatching, thats what also played a part in him giving crawford a lot of problems (and also what caused him to be so tired in the last 2 rounds)
>and Mad, even though low volume, was clearly the aggressor. That matters in a fight. Backing up an opponent is worth points, more so than just barely out jabbing your opponent.
I disagree, Madrimov was definitely the one holding the centre of the ring more, but i think the main difference between you and I here is how much we are valuing ring generalship and aggression in boxing. for me, i will always try to see in a fight whether that ring generalship leads to anything and wheter the aggression is actually effective more than just the aggresion and ring generalship themselves. For me, im not just going to view the person fighting off the backfoot as losing a round automatically if they are landing at around the same frequency. Madrimov had a good few rounds where he WAS effective, but imo he threw away a couple rounds like 1 and 2 because he was simply pushing crawford back without landing much of anything himself. that matters, you cant expect to win rounds based off your feinting and the fact that the other guy is backing up if you are not throwing enough. i agree that crawford wasnt able to impose his style because of madrimovs akwardness and feints, but I also do not agree that madrimov was much better at imposing his own style onto crawford.
I can definitely see why someone could give a draw and maybe even a win to madrimov under that perspective, but its one that ive always disagreed with. Bivol/Beterbiev comes to mind when talking about this as well

man i feel really fucking bad for tim right now. dwyer kind of brought it to light in his post fight video, he mustve been a but fucked mentally coming into the fight
he was coming off a close loss against a short notice opponent which he only really lost because of really unlucky cut, couple that with the fact that it was the first fight his dad has ever seen him in live for his pro career. mustve felt a lot of pressure going into the fight, which is probably only gonna be worse for him after losing like he did and guys like Turki kicking him while hes down. ruthless sport this is.
>>145209670
good fight, wouldve slightly prefered MJ but at least I get to see Hearn seethe even more now. I reckon the april fight in vegas would be a move up fight either against Angelo Leo or maybe Carrington. I think Rey Vargas got stipped and now Figeuroa is rematching Fulton for his belt, and Espinoza is rematching Ramirez for his belt, so that rules out fights for those belts.
>I wonder what Takei will do in the meantime. Unification with Nishida would be nice

>For me, im not just going to view the person fighting off the backfoot as losing a round automatically if they are landing at around the same frequency.
I think that opens up a precedent for fighters to simply run and tap though. If one's guys pushing the fight and one guys on the back foot and both are landing about the same, then surely the guy who's winning is the guy pushing the fight. It'd be one think if Crawford was landing more or nullyfying Madrimovs aggression, but what happened was that Madrimovs was simply being methodical in his aggression while Craeford seemed to just be waiting for Madrimov to play his hand. The fight was paced by Mads aggression, and Crawford hardly ever broke his pacing.

I guess i just don't agree with giving rounds 1 and 2 to Crawford when it was Crawford that was trying to get a read on Madrimov. Crawford was reactive and Madrimov was proactive. If neither guys landed anything really meaningful then it's either a 10-10 round or the guy being g the agressor and taking more control of the ring wins the round.
>>
>>145212410
>the guy being g the agressor and taking more control of the ring wins the round.
if the guy being the aggressor doesn't do anything and nothing happens and the round was boring that means he FAILED and the defensive boxer SUCCEEDED

Fraud was fighting off the back foot throughout the fight, but he seemed ready to go all out. Madrimov's stance in that fight implied that he was willing to risk it all, and he had the smarts to back it up. I remembered I got really excited in those threads, watching and posting that the fight is going to be a Leonard v Hearns 2 fight, where both warriors were willing to trade knockout punches and go for broke. But it ended up to be a nothingburger because Madrimov bailed out.

Alright so I had an hour at work where I just watched the KDs in the Tszyu fight, lemme know what you think. The video I used.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYmc7bVwOm0

KD1: Tim goes for a left hook to the body but swivels his core too much, he spins his torso taking his right hand, which is guarding his face, out of position. Murtazaliev is waiting for a counter and times it perfectly as Tim rotates his core. Tim goes down and looks at Murtazaliev like he can't believe or maybe doesn't know what he got hit with.

KD2: Murtazaliev throws a 1-2. Tszyu blocks the jab, steps back and tries to parry the right with his own right and then tries to counter with a left hook as Murtazaliev's right hand drops after he throws it leaving his head open for a counter. The Tszyu counter would've been money if Murtazaliev (1) wasn't compensating for Tszyu's backstep by stepping in making Tszyu miss and (2) throwing another power left hand completing his 1-2-1. Tim unfortunately tried to parry with his right hand but never brought it back up to protect himself and gets cracked.
>>
KD3: Tszyu took 2 very hard shots before falling into Murtazaliev's chest. Murtazaliev tags Tszyu with a right hand and Tszyu tries to lock it up in his guard; at this point Tim is trying to tie up Murtazaliev. What he doesn't expect is a left hand to crash into his head which lets Murtazaliev to get his right hand free and Tim is facing down so he doesn't see the chopping right hand that drops him.

KD4: I think this is an important one because it's the same exact as KD1. Tszyu throws a left hook to the body but his weight is on his front leg and he pulls his right hand back too far to protect his face and Murtazaliev clocks him again with the same left hook.

Murtazaliev seems to be able to throw punches in bunches and also has an excellent sense of timing and accuracy, he's able to throw 3/4 punches in combination and then finish with a counter. Tszyu seems to not have a plan B but more importantly, Tszyu has sloppy defense that no one up until now has been able to take advantage of and it seems like his mental acuity can't keep up with someone taking the fight to him although I'm not sure how much being basically concussed from the first knockdown has to do with that. But the fact that Murtazaliev knocked down Tim not only with the same punch but also Tim making the same mistake twice shows me that Tim has a couple of bad habits he needs to work on as he recuperates.
>>
>>145216646
It's crazy how these retards don't understand this. The guy forcing the fight deserves the round. The other guys doing less by definition. I don't understand what needs to be explained.

Why do oldheads rate old fighters so highly. I was watching some Joe Louis fights and although he was impressive for the time Daniel Dubois would demolish him in a few rounds. Louis’ left hand was always at his waist and he would get dropped by a huge right from any decent modern heavyweight.
>>
We eatin lean for a few weeks /box/bros..
>>
>>145221035
Even by most 'Oldheads' accounts, Joe Louis's style would not have been effective in the modern era. It's more that before Joe Louis, things were even more primitive.

I'd say if we're going to generalize one of the advantages older fighters had regardless of the era, is the fact that they would fight 15 rounds, sometimes more. Many modern day heavyweights struggle with even 12 round fights. But I think to find heavyweights that would fight well in the modern era you have to go a bit past the 50s, excluding some freaks like Marciano who might have had success through sheer grit. It's the fighters in the 60s and 70s and beyond that are more often used in fantasy match-ups.
>>
I basically stopped watching boxing five years ago and have gradually been watching more again…the sport is in shambles. There are a few awesome fighters out there, but peak talent is at like an early 2000s low.
>>
>>145221074
At least you have a nuanced take on it, there’s a lot of people who think Louis would walk through todays division
>>
>>145221105
>There are a few awesome fighters out there, but peak talent is at like an early 2000s low.
How would you compare peak talent of now to the fighters of early 2000s?
>>
>>145221116
It's not something worth dumping too much mental energy into of "who would beat who". But I think it is worth looking at what some of the older heavyweights did right compared to what the current ones are doing wrong. But things are different. Heavyweights are much bigger on average, and while you have guys that are extremely skilled like Usyk that can tip the favor despite being smaller, he's still 6'4", which is about the same height as Ali and Foreman. I think much smaller than that it would be harder for them to compete at modern heavy.
>>
>>145221155
>. But I think it is worth looking at what some of the older heavyweights did right compared to what the current ones are doing wrong.
I think its mainly the mentality and attitude they had and its not only about HWs but all the guys at the time, and if we get really back from marciano and older then the people back then were unironically built different
>>
> On Madrimov's aggressiveness against Crawford

Madrimov's pressure and feints ceased to be effective anymore because it became a repetitive routine marred by hesitancy, indecisiveness, and rationality rather than bold and confident movements backed by an insane killing intent to knock Dud out.

His game plan only makes sense if he aims for a knockout, something he should have pursued already in the earlier rounds. That's the only way he would force Fraud to fight on his terms. When Mad threw a successful power punch, he just resets and admires his work, missing the chance to accelerate the pace and show what he was truly capable of. From a points perspective, that style has shown to be unsustainable and inefficient. So many movements and setups just to land a few punches, only to get countered with equal or greater number of punches.

Even Foreman and Ali tended to keep their left hand very low which I think would be their downfall against modern heavyweights. Although Foreman was quite good at deflecting with his arms. It seems a necessity these days to keep your hands up as I think on average heavyweights hit a lot harder than before.
>>
>>145221118
Hindsight is always 20/20 but James Toney was the best heavyweight? He wasn’t a heavyweight. I really like Usyk and Fury, Usyks resume is garbage. He’s smashing cans that wlad beat ten years ago. Fury is hard to appreciate unless you really love boxing. His feints fuck with guys so much because they know he’s a samsquatch and has way faster hands than you’d expect. I just saw some Rigo fight the other week, Jesus Christ how is he still main eventing? He just goes for jogs and cashes a paycheck at this point. What is Canelo like an 10 division champion at this point? Everyone else is garbage across like 6 weight classes.

>>
>>145227084
>Catteral vs Prograis might be good.
Big emphasis on "might"
I'll be tuning in but I have low expectations, especially for Prograis who has looked worse and worse lately. Catteral is alright but I don't think he's amazing. There is a potential Prograis finds his groove again which is what would make the fight interesting to me. Otherwise I expect Catteral to take it to a decision in a rather uneventful bout.
>>
>>145225046
Yeah Timmy is tough. Those were some serious knockdowns and he was clearly taking a lot of damage, but was still game to keep fighting. I don't think he should be commended for his recklessness though. Had he fought a little smarter and respected Murt's power a bit, he could have had a lot more success. Not saying he needed to turn it into a stinker, but he was leaving himself open way too much and just trying to brute force his way through. That kind of stuff will work on lower level guys but he needed to fight smarter against someone as good of a boxer and as strong as Murtazaliev is. Everybody underestimated that guy, and I mean everybody.

do you believe her , lads?

>Tyson Fury has revealed that his wife Paris Fury suffered a miscarriage the day before the Oleksandr Usyk fight: "I am not making excuses but she was six months pregnant. It’s not like a small miscarriage at the beginning, you have to physically give birth to a dead child, on your own, while your husband is in a foreign country. To go through that on your own isn’t good. When she said she couldn’t come over, I knew there was a problem. She said she had high blood pressure. Turki Alalshikh offered us a private jet to get around the high blood pressure and said she could bring the doctor with her. She said she couldn’t come. I asked her what was up and asked her to tell me, but she wouldn’t. So I knew. She never told me she had lost the baby, but I knew. When I got back I got the inevitable confirmation that it was gone, but she had kept it to herself."

Crazy schizo head theory: If you were to compare Fury and Usyk to dogs, Fury would obviously be a very large dog, one of the biggest dogs there is, Usyk would be a medium dog albeit on the large end. Now anyone that knows dogs knows that while big dogs mature faster, they also age faster. I think age and health mismanagement is catching up to Fury. He's a big dog and as he got older he now has big dog problems. Plus if you look at all of Fury's knockdowns, the majority of them are HARD knockdowns. I'm talking flat on his back, head hitting the canvas, or in Usyk's case, pounded from pillar to pillar which isn't any better. Fury's taken a lot of damage over the years, it's just been ignored because he wins. This rematch I wouldn't be surprised if it all caught up to him.

Make some fake bets. Keep track of the odds, write down your bet and calculate potential earnings. Then reflect on the result. Keep track of all the money youve bet, won and lost. Do this for a few fights you feel confident in to see if you have a knack for it. I was able to make a very small profit after keeping track of all the money won and lost over the span of about half a year, so I didnt do the real thing as it was stressful even without gambling real money. Its really hard to make consistent money, there’s a reason it ruins people’s lives.

It’s easy to be like, “I had a good feeling so and so would win” after the fact, but much different to lock down an exact prediction and also be right about it consistently. Ive gotten close to being consistent but there’s always curve balls between upsets, weird decisions, bad refs and other disruptive factors. It can be a fun little exercise but I wouldnt waste real money on it unless you know you’re really consistent and have the results to prove it. Even then, dangerous game.

this place is unusable except on fightnights. whenever i pop into /box/ on weekdays it's just bizarre shitposting about fury and bongsa
>>
>>145250808
You're not wrong
Expect it to get a lot worse as Fury and Usyk will be fighting in less than two months.
>>
>>145250827
Are you guys still reading European posts? If the post is from a flag I know has been consistently posting drivel, I don't read it at all. I've been having a much better time doing that
>>
>>145250858
I read them so I can alert the jannies of their low quality nature
>>
Ebanie knew she'd lose the rematch since the jap single mom won on short notice so she just got impregnated instead

I just skim through them, but only if I knew for sure they're breaking the rules

according to bob inoue has the 3 more fights at 122
goodman, nakatani and although he didnt mention mj hes very likely to be the other guy, if thats the case then as much as I like inoue hes not gonna become my #1 p4p for fighting those guys even if they are his mandatory, only nakatani would be a great win but you would also need to take into consideration that that could be his first or 2nd fight at 122

site wide anti-spam measure to stop bots and ban evasion fags
seems like it's doing nothing to stop the spammers and instead just making it more inconvenient for everyone to post (but especially mobilefags who deserve it honestly)
>>
>>145251875
>>145251856
What waiting times? The 60 seconds After every post?
>>
>>145251878
15 minute delay between posts if you're posting from a new IP.
Or you can verify email address (lol)
>>
>>145251883
>Or you can verify email address
The fuck? This is definitely new. What a shitfest
>>
>>145251883
It’s not like this site is really anonymous anyway, might as well
>>
>>145251892
Yeah they just implemented it on a few boards a couple days ago but it's site wide. There's an announcement for it. At the top of the page.

>New anti-spam measures have been applied to all boards.
>Please see the Frequently Asked Questions page for details.

Even sticky threads at the top of some boards explaining how it works.
>>
>>145251839
Catterall will probably look ok but win by decision
>>
>>145251900
Well it's a lot more anonymous in that it doesn't leave a trail to your real identity. Linking an email to an account (and it has to be an email from gmail, etc, not a disposable email), actually links it to your real identity. Yeah you have an IP address, but that just gives off a general area of location. Unless you actually break the law, that information is confidential between you and your ISP. As of right now there's really no other longstanding website that is built around being anonymous.
>>
>>145251915
Yeah I expect the fight to be more of a boring decision for Catteral. I doubt Prograis is going to have some kind of explosive comeback but I'd love to be wrong about that.

Usyk seems to be losing his composure lately. He will not be the same fighter he once was, and for worse. It must be traumatizing to face a boxer who exceeds your expectations.
>>
Is it the sport of boxing that makes this general the closest experience to reddit you can have on 4chan?
>>
>>145252366
Without the Fury spam this general would be extremely reddit
It would just be nerds wanking themselves off posting essays about shit like whether harry greb could cut it in the modern era
>>
Usyk seems to be developing a case of what some call 'Fury Derangement Syndrome,' much to my dismay, similar to Wilder and Chisora. I thought you were better than this, Usyk. Perhaps it's the trauma.
>>
>>145252383

It depends if Prograis can keep enough gas in the tank for the later rounds where Catterall gets tired, but yeah Regis is showing his age.
