Alright so I had an hour at work where I just watched the KDs in the Tszyu fight, lemme know what you think. The video I used.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYmc7bVwOm0KD1: Tim goes for a left hook to the body but swivels his core too much, he spins his torso taking his right hand, which is guarding his face, out of position. Murtazaliev is waiting for a counter and times it perfectly as Tim rotates his core. Tim goes down and looks at Murtazaliev like he can't believe or maybe doesn't know what he got hit with. KD2: Murtazaliev throws a 1-2. Tszyu blocks the jab, steps back and tries to parry the right with his own right and then tries to counter with a left hook as Murtazaliev's right hand drops after he throws it leaving his head open for a counter. The Tszyu counter would've been money if Murtazaliev (1) wasn't compensating for Tszyu's backstep by stepping in making Tszyu miss and (2) throwing another power left hand completing his 1-2-1. Tim unfortunately tried to parry with his right hand but never brought it back up to protect himself and gets cracked.
KD3: Tszyu took 2 very hard shots before falling into Murtazaliev's chest. Murtazaliev tags Tszyu with a right hand and Tszyu tries to lock it up in his guard; at this point Tim is trying to tie up Murtazaliev. What he doesn't expect is a left hand to crash into his head which lets Murtazaliev to get his right hand free and Tim is facing down so he doesn't see the chopping right hand that drops him. KD4: I think this is an important one because it's the same exact as KD1. Tszyu throws a left hook to the body but his weight is on his front leg and he pulls his right hand back too far to protect his face and Murtazaliev clocks him again with the same left hook. Murtazaliev seems to be able to throw punches in bunches and also has an excellent sense of timing and accuracy, he's able to throw 3/4 punches in combination and then finish with a counter. Tszyu seems to not have a plan B but more importantly, Tszyu has sloppy defense that no one up until now has been able to take advantage of and it seems like his mental acuity can't keep up with someone taking the fight to him although I'm not sure how much being basically concussed from the first knockdown has to do with that. But the fact that Murtazaliev knocked down Tim not only with the same punch but also Tim making the same mistake twice shows me that Tim has a couple of bad habits he needs to work on as he recuperates.

Why do oldheads rate old fighters so highly. I was watching some Joe Louis fights and although he was impressive for the time Daniel Dubois would demolish him in a few rounds. Louis’ left hand was always at his waist and he would get dropped by a huge right from any decent modern heavyweight.

But I think to find heavyweights that would fight well in the modern era you have to go a bit past the 50s, excluding some freaks like Marciano who might have had success through sheer grit. It's the fighters in the 60s and 70s and beyond that are more often used in fantasy match-ups.
I basically stopped watching boxing five years ago and have gradually been watching more again…the sport is in shambles. There are a few awesome fighters out there, but peak talent is at like an early 2000s low.

Crazy schizo head theory: If you were to compare Fury and Usyk to dogs, Fury would obviously be a very large dog, one of the biggest dogs there is, Usyk would be a medium dog albeit on the large end. Now anyone that knows dogs knows that while big dogs mature faster, they also age faster. I think age and health mismanagement is catching up to Fury. He's a big dog and as he got older he now has big dog problems. Plus if you look at all of Fury's knockdowns, the majority of them are HARD knockdowns. I'm talking flat on his back, head hitting the canvas, or in Usyk's case, pounded from pillar to pillar which isn't any better. Fury's taken a lot of damage over the years, it's just been ignored because he wins. This rematch I wouldn't be surprised if it all caught up to him.
