it confuses me how little people talk about the fact that he turned into prime mbappe for a few months while his contract was being negotiated and then went back to not giving a shit once it was finalised
like it's so blatant what he did and how the only thing holding him back from being a really great player is that he can't be bothered
>>
>>146224336
while i do agree with your overall point (he played decently, got the contract, then fucked off) he was never as good as people made him out to be, even during his "good" spell. decent, but not world beater by any means. the fact they gave him 325k or whatever they did just goes to show how fucked up that club is.

It's a good question and ultimately I don't completely understand it.
The fan groups mentioned in the article are being vague on X, I did read through their tweets (long enough to be manifestos) saying the values of the club don't align with theirs but the issues boil down to things like saying the light shows the club have started doing pre-match should be cancelled because they're too loud and things like that.
I legitimately don't see anything from them saying they want to put pressure on Levy to win something, they're seemingly all criticisms aimed at the fan experience.

>>
>>146227421
I saw nothing about any of that - it's not to say Spurs fans aren't annoyed about it (mind you I'm yet to see proof otherwise) but these upcoming protests aren't aimed at that at all.
Frankly though if they can't get decent protest numbers for the fan experience on a home match day directly outside of the stadium with fans already swarming about then any memes about their pathetic protests will be fully deserved.

>>
>>146227044
If you want the best example of them being fucked over by Levy and Enic then summer 2018 is it. Youngish Poch with prime Kane, Alli, Eriksen and Son. They bought nobody all summer and then fucked the league and lost the CL final. Had they actually pushed on and bought some quality players there’s a good chance they wouldn’t have totally fluffed the final and may have been in a shout for the league. Instead the squad was run into the ground and Poch was sacked the following season.

Not bc of my flag.
But I genuinely think Amorim really managed to garner all the media spotlights he had on him to dish out a blow on Rashford no other manager could do. Even Mourinho.
Actually think Mourinho didn't account for how lazy Rashford could be and kept thinking he could change him. Not to mention in mou's tenure, Pogba was there too, another toxic piece of shit.
>>
>>146228664
I don't think so much is being made of it as some wild move because by now its nothing new. Ten Hag dropped him to the bench because of his discipline, just seems like Amorim had the balls to go the whole way and keep him out the squad. It's time for him to go regardless, had one standout season but besides that has either looked lazy or just not up to it
>>
>>146228664
Not a flag-bash but I think people outside of the UK don't understand like we do so in short:
The sports media in this country is extremely prone to lobbying from the PL clubs themselves. The most obvious case is always United in that they wanted Rashford gone for a while and I think Amorim saw this, knowing it came from club legend Sir Jim and those, and so thought it was safe to exclude him from an away match against City, especially given he's got prior cases for being lazy and turning up hungover to training etc.

no it isn't, he said Spurs could have challenged of they spent, they couldn't have, we know this, predicting how good other teams would be or not does not factor in to what he said, he knew to teams got 98 and 97 points when he said it, and now he seems to think if Dembele stayed it would be worth 27 points over 17 games, absolute nonsense
>>
>>146230295
>he said Spurs could have challenged of they spent
no i didn't
>>
>>146230295
My original point was a major reason for Pochs sacking was tiredness and low morale. Low morale from the CL final defeat and tiredness from limited rotation options. Both would’ve solved by having more and better players. 27pts is a lot but ultimately I still maintain they’d be in a very different place had they spent in summer 2018. That summer (aside from prime meme material) gimped them and led to them buying shitters like Ndombele to placate Mourinho.

IMPORTANT UNITED NEWS

In other news, I heard that Inter Miami want to sign De Brown. That'd make them pretty good, but their (now 'resigned' manager) wanted to improve their defence and then suddenly Messi gets asked what should happen and shockingly the manager 'resigns' and Messi's old mate is put in charge and what do you know, Neymar confirms he plans to leave to join Inter Miami. Di Maria also.

If Miami could somehow sign Di Maria, Neymar and De Brown... They'd hilariously rape the league. Might win games 5-4 but still. Also New York Red Bulls signed Chopo-Motting on a FREE.

united i believe are flirting with the psr limit because they spent at least 30 millions or so on for severing ten hag's contract, amorim's buyout fee and sacking ashworth thanks to ineos extending ten hag's contract after the FA cup win, this is why they need to move rashford on alongside a few other players before they can go spend money

They already broke the PSR limit, the FA just gave them £40m for free despite it being 20 times more than any other club claimed. Simply moving Rashford on will free up tens of millions due to his contract. Antony is probably gone. Garnacho might be gone based on his outbursts. After that it's a bit of a crap shoot. Zirkzee might go. Holjund might go. Lots of things could change. But I can still see United spending the £60m or so to get Gyokeres.

'flirting' with? they flat out broke it by tens of millions, but apparently united suffered from covid issues x20 the amount of other clubs so they got £40m instead of £2m.

they could spent £100m over and they'll say 'well it was due to sacking and firing players, one off, it's not a common thing, our income is still great'.

actually PSR is scrapped the end of this season and replaced with the UEFA 85% method so...

Mourinho was aware of it, just didn't last long enough to change it. Uphill battle for any manager to come in and try and get rid of a guy whose on obscene wages he doesn't deserve, has been made to be the face of the club and is the media darling in the UK so any pressure that should be on him instead goes on the manager.
Just see Amorim's presser before the tottenham game - nothing but questions about rashford, Amorim must already be sick of it himself. Carragher was on point a few days ago when he said that rashford's talent doesn't match the amount of media attention he gets, you'd think we're talking about CR7 or messi when it's just a lazy shitter with a massive PR machine behind him.
>>
>>146237768
>rashford's talent doesn't match the amount of media attention he gets

It's mainly built around it being ManU and the class of '92. Ideally they'd hype up a player the club bought, but they buy shitter after shitter so instead they have to hype up someone from the academy. Problem is they're all dogshit too so they have to move onto the next flavour of the month hoping this time they'll get it right.
Before Rashford it was Januzaj. A few months ago it was Mainoo. Now it's Amad because he's scored against (a finished) City. They'll just keep doing it. Rashford benefits massively from his PR team though, that's very true.
It's a bit like the Brazil NT where they *need* a new Pele purely because they're Brazil. Sometimes it works like with Ronaldo (fat), but most of the time it's trotting out and hyping shitters like Nerman, Robinho, or Julio Baptista.
Brazil and Manure are pretty similar all round. They're hyped up as the juggernauts of soccer™ (Manure domestically and Brazil internationally). Despite Manure being basically irrelevant for over a decade and Brazil's best performance at the world cup since 2002 being one semi final (which they had to cheat to get to because they should have been knocked out at the group stage).

Southampton are close to appointing Ivan Juric as their manager on an 18-month deal.

The Croat is set to replace Russell Martin, who was sacked by the Saints on Sunday after their 5-0 thrashing by Tottenham.

Juric, 49, was most recently manager of Roma, who sacked him in November after just 12 matches in charge.

The Southampton job would mark Juric's first managerial role outside Italy.

His deal is said to include a summer break clause.

Club sources say Juric was one of two options in the frame as Ralph Hasenhuttl's replacement when Nathan Jones was appointed in November 2022.

The club is said to want a manager who can bring some solidity and discipline to the squad after the heavy defeat by Spurs.

Juric is unlikely to be in post for this weekend's match at Fulham on Sunday (14:00 GMT).

>Everybody on /sp/ and the media is wondering who Arteta is going to buy with the money
>He ends up buying Mount for £35m (or £40m I forget)
>Everybody asks why he bought Mount
>He replies "It's my duty to save players"
>The dream then switches to a match
>It's Arsenal vs Chelsea
>Arsenal win 5-4
>But the commentators are going "Wow what a game, all 9 goals were scored in an 8 min period"
>I am half awake now and think "That isn't possible, is it?"
I then woke up.

>>
>>146242247
I didn't say he was fired. I actually said (multiple times) he 'resigned'. He 'resigned' because he was wanting to improve the defence which cost them the final trophy. But Messi doesn't want that, he wants to bring the gang back together and his friends. Which is why Mascherano is now the manager (he could still play t b h). It's why he wants Di Maria and Neymar. I and several US pundits/media suggested that Beckham listened to Messi over what the club should do. Screw a well balanced team (Busquets in fucking CB was awful), just go full glass cannon. Which is fun and pleases MLS fans but it isn't sustainable, really. They should go for Otamendi. Unless Messi doesn't like him. Anyway my point is, I'd love to see a team that is Busquets, Alba, Neymar, Suarez, Messi, Di Maria and De Brown.
>>
I'm 99% sure Salah and Van Dijk will stay and be announced over Christmas. Salah even posted white smoke on his insta story the other day.

Trent I am pessimistic about, i'd say i'm like 45% sure he will stay at this point

Man United will be a serious team next season.

You can already see the style of play under Amorim and the team is infinitely better than they were at the start of this season. The B team pulled back a 3 goal deficit against Spurs best team away and if it wasn't for a few retarded individual errors by Martinez and Bayindir they likely would've won.

Honestly Amorim seems to be the real deal. It can't be a coincidence that Sportinf CP went from dominant to weak straight after he left.

>>146228664
I don't think it's much to do with the media, but the fact that his job is to try to rebuild the squad from the ground up, whereas previously managers were expected to maintain some imaginary momentum and instantly restore the Fergie years. Obviously they're limited in how much they can do right now with PSR and all the rest of their financial issues, but they've finally accepted the reality that they're in a bad situation all around, and the spotlight has been put on Rashford because he's on such a massive wage and isn't showing up in most games. Ratcliffe's cost-cutting is a big part of it, but so is reminding the players that they don't rule the roost.
>>
>>146243557
You can see that Yoro has potential. He plays the same way that Varane did at his age.
>>
>>146243799
>>146243865

>>
>>146242857
Ten Hag threw in the towel after a few weeks and stopped trying to "play like Ajax". He then spent an exorbitant amount on ex-Ajax players, only to continue not even trying to play like Ajax. Amorim is actually making a slow but steady concerted effort to make his system work. Whether he succeeds or not remains to be seen, but the change in their style of play is already showing through, teething issues included, and he's not likely to give up on it.
