I’ve been thinking and if we’re going to go through the painful rebuild of the squad in Amorim’s vision and formation, he does need to show more as we’ll be sacrificing wingers and buying wingbacks for example which will be a very costly transition. If Amorim was to fail, there are very few managers in world football that are experts in this formation and can pick up where he left off. Hence, we probably have to re-transition back to a 4 at the back formation.I think this is a big reason why Ashworth left the club as he realises that there is very little continuity post Amorim and we will have to invest heavily again to rebuild this team. We’ve essentially backed ourselves into the corner believing Amorim is the one and only one that can fix this. I don’t think people realise how big of a gamble Amorim’s appointment is.Going back to my original point, if Amorim’s form does not improve by end of season, I do not think it would be wise to let him continue and fully commit to his style and vision. He needs to show a lot more with what we currently have to receive the type of backing he would need to build his team that would be successful.

It is time to wake up, and realise that no matter what manager we have, our squad is not good enough.
