>Of course, I have to rank Lennert Van Eetvelt highly, but that is solely on potential. We saw his superior level as a puncheur in the Vuelta in 2024, where he probably would have beaten the eventual winner, Primoz Roglic, on the first mountain stage, if he hadn't cheered too early. On the whole, he has shown a TOWERING top level on several occasions, including in the UAE Tour in 2024 and in Lombardy in 2025, where he was the third best man.

>>154313140This route isn't even that bad. No sprint stage sure, whatever who cares. A hilly stage. I think it comes at an awkward time in the season just before the giro and just after the ardennes which inevitably puts it in an awkward place. I think it looks great. Maybe the route + presence of a particular antichrist is what's putting people off. 4th at Romandie is very meh for on of the team leaders.

Article on sport cycling from 1911 Britannica:>But cycle racing has fallen upon evil days. At one time cycle racing attracted a large number of spectators, but gradually it lost the public favour, or rather was ignored by the public because it became mainly an advertisement for cycle makers. The presence of the man, directly or indirectly, in the employ of, or aided by a maker, and the consequent mixing up of trade and sport, lowered racing not only in the public estimation, but in that of all genuine amateurs. >The introduction of pacing by multicycles and motors next took from cycle racing what interest was left. A motor race, in which the machines are run at top speed, is more exciting than the spectacle of a motor being driven at a rate which the cyclist can follow with the protection of a wind-shield. In America this system of proving what cyclists can do with racing machines was carried so far that in 1899 a board track was laid down on the Long Island railway for about 2 m. between the metals, and a cyclist named Murphy, followed a train, and protected by enormous wind-shields, succeeded in covering a mile in less than a minute in the autumn of 1900. Other cyclists have devoted themselves, at the instigation of makers, to the riding of 100 m. a day every day for a year. It would be difficult to say what advantage there is in these trials and contests. They are not convincing records, and only prove that some people are willing to take great personal risks for the benefit of their employers.https://britannica11.org/article/07-0704-cycling/cycling

>>154325122VW T5 vans are reasonable. 70k miles, pop roof, 4wd for 22k. The bigger ones like his cost an absolute fortune but they are pretty cool. Just limits your options where you can go. Driving those down smaller roads is a nightmare, saw them struggle in scotland and wales many times.
Le French hype with Seixas has all the makings in it for some giant accident that ruins that boys whole carreer and subsequent blackpilling of French cyclismo. You can just feel it in the ether of the universe.
>>154325214Bigger ones only make sense if you're one of those people (usually 60+) who spend the entire day in/sitting near the camper. Vans make much more sense if you're doing anything else during your stay
>>154325233Fuel is also ghastly expensive and the van VW guzzles fuel. I cannot begin to imagine how thirsty those bigger ones are. Younger people can get away without the luxuries anyway, all you realistically need is a leisure battery, solar panel and a bed. And roof rack to bring your kayak.

A mid - high roof big van is gonna take around 10 l/100 km of diesel to move around regardless of what you've got in there so it's not that much more than a normal car or especially a smaller van. And there's no issues driving them on smaller roads. I find them easier to park and reverse than most cars because they're boxy and you've got huge mirrors. Need to build a bed into my new van so I can sleep in there.
