Given that anime and anime inspired cartoon styles have become pretty much the norm or at least incredibly common in most other forms of indie entertainment (TTRPGs, videogames, comics, animation, even miniature wargames). How comes it remains a relatively rare style to find in board games, an industry that operates almost entirely in the form of independent creators and small studios? How comes it still carries associations of being an art-style of games "for kids"?

It was so strange when pic related came out seeing people "warning" others that even tho "it looks like a game for kids, it's actually quite difficult and heavy".

I gave my Death Scythe Hell model to a small Japanese child to play with, and he foided it a thousand times and broke all the joints.

I was so angry with him I rolled up a newspaper and tried beating him with it, but he caught it, folded it a thousand times, and made a hundred swans.

>that are definitely toy commercials and definitely(at least at first) were aimed at kids
this is 90% of the reason that gundam was shortened to 40 episodes and would have been a footnote in japanese history if teenage girls werent writing letters to bring the show back

gundam being aimed at kids was their biggest mistake because the teens who actually liked the show didnt buy the toys
which is why when gundam came back with the compilation movies, the toys were gone and replaced with plastic model kits squarely aimed at older buyers
then when zeta gundam came out, the show was made from the ground up to cater to the seinen demographic, with silly elements like the gundam hammer removed, and with the mecha re-made to be more plamo friendly instead of toy friendly
>>
>>97827342

So, now you need to decide. Do you close your eyes to what you've seen and go back to sleep? Or do you come with this psycho burnout and do the impossible against the unbelievable and keep the future at bay for another day? What's it going to be? In or out?

Yeah? You dumb shit.

Eh, I've been having fun with God's Teeth. Maybe that is my Handler doing some heavy lifting, but it never seemed too edgy (by the standards of the setting).

We're clearly coming up on the end of it. Which is for the best, since my agent just choked out and kidnapped his handler. Need to figure out how to finish the mission before the Program can stop me. Secondary goal, need to ensure the mission stays completed, even after I'm out of the picture. Tertiary, need to figure out how to survive once it is all over.

I think that the core idea of God's Teeth is pretty good, and I really enjoyed the original actual plays that came out eons ago, but it's annoying that the game has been around for almost a decade now and the two campaigns that we have are both subversions of the "normal" Delta Green campaign that span the conspiracy and current eras and involve themes of agency, or lack thereof. The only other """*campaign"""" they've put forth is a series of 3 railroads and something I barely even remember in control group. It would have been nice to just take a single occult conspiracy, and then do an entire book about breaking that open. Instead it's just a constant stream of campaign frames for monster of the week games. DG needs its version of Masks.

Bit confused on how this line is meant to be used. clearly something it going to give them blocker and/or alliance but being titan trait makes them unusable with all the existing O12 that want to swarm with only Iliad
>>
>>97827300
They're blockers in Factorial Area, probably Alliance targets in Gear Forest, and Orochimon can play most Titan level 4s to trigger a trash from hand for Titamon/Titamon-B's All Turns effects
>>
>>97827292
Unless they go outside of what's in the game, Guardromon can't be a part of it.
ToyAgumon > Raremon > Dragomon is the only way to do it to stay game-legal.
>>
>>97827300
They're not for an OXII zoo deck, they're for a Gear Forest deck. So yeah, blocker and/or alliance, effects that can choose to suspend your own digimon, and probably effects that suspend your own Digimon to do something else.
It is even possible (if unlikely) that Ceresmon has Digisorption again.

Witch IS pathfinder's equivalent to warlock, it doesn't have eldritch blast or anything but both are arcane spellcasters who get their magic from a pact with a powerful magic entity. Although I'll give you pathfinder's patrons lean towards the more distant and mysterious rather than the kind that has a chance to breath down your neck.

>>97813494
It also makes sense that witch and warlock would get mixed up in localization considering warlock is often the term for a male witch and witch hunting people thought all magic came from pacts with the devil anyways.
>>
>>97826796
Honestly Oracle? Is probably the closest to a Warlock. You aren't making a pact but you are getting fucked around with.
>>
>>97826527
This one's good but frankly the most busted shit in that book are the benefits of the Order of the Chain.

At 8th level they get a 2 action activity thats basically slam down but for grapple. Except if you use a flail or a spiked chain, you upgrade successes to crits on the grapple.

And then at 12th for another feat they just get to ignore crit fails on all Grapple checks. Oh and also once you have someone grabbed, if they fail to Escape they actually crit fail instead (so they cant try again until their next turn) and if they crit succeed (which would let them move away for free) it gets downgraded to a pass.

Paizo really arent beating the allegations of not playtesting this shit. And it stands out even more because the other hellknight options are meh, except the one that lets you be a peeping tom.

>Any good ways to explain the difference between a mortal and a monster in your fantasy setting?
I have three different types of soul, the aetheric soul of mortals, the elemental animus of elementals (elementals that have become self aware/distinct "races" essentially) and I forgot what I called the liminal/fae version. So "monsters" would be different from mortals on a fundamental level. Although mortals can become corrupted or otherwise changed into monstrous forms so I guess the distinction isn't so clear cut in all scenarios.
>>
What are your in world slurs? Do elves call dwarfs diggers?
>>
>>97827264
Race based slurs aren't really impactful or all that insulting/offensive in my setting.
Like the Blooded might refer to "lesser" peoples as stock (as in livestock, you know, because they literally feed off them or use them for their utility). But people are generally more concerned with what the blooded do, not what they say. There are still stories from before the Apex was revived, when powerful blooded did whatever they pleased in their domain, including horrific fleshcrafting and unethical experimentation. So just being referred to with dehumanizing language is basically nothing.

Fera will refer to humans as hairless or baldies, since fera are covered in body hair. But it's generally seen as a childish insult with no real impact or venom behind it.
Lizardmen will occasionally call the other races apes, but again there is no bite behind it.

People got more serious shit to deal with then fantasy racism.

Hell, to the people in Centennial, comments about piss and shit are FAR more offensive to them.
Meanwhile to the people of Soul, blasphemy in general and especially blasphemy against their main god Sol, are fighting words that will get you killed. They have zero tolerance for it.

Wrong. That's why everyone liked 4e so much. Because instead of describing what your character was doing, you just declared the name of your best power every round and stated the mechanics clearly and concisely.

If you aren't playing your game like 4e, then you're not playing at all.

It's still kind of funny to me that Sidereals didn't get nearly as mistreated as Lunars during the First Age, and by all accounts were treated about as respectfully as a First Age Solar could treat an inferior. You would think there would be at least one or two accounts of Solar and Sidereal hubris clashing, but nope.

Out of universe answer; Sidereals weren't part of that version of the first age, and/or the devs didn't want to stain their real golden boys.

There kind of is, in this sidebar. It is describing a clash between the Sidereal and Solar hubris. Solars feel entitled to whatever they want, including Sidereal Martial Arts, while Sidereals feel entitled to respect as martial arts masters, sifu and advisor to the rulers of the world. Solars can't respect anyone so they withdraw from tutelage and stop listening to advice, and the Sidereals... well, we all know how they respond.
