Why did GW make them chicken nuggets instead of just putting the crotch at the knee like real life exoskeletons?

Anon the knee joint houses a suspended foot actuator with room in the thigh housing to articulate the pilots own leg.
>>
>>97246576
No it doesnt. You would have to amputate the pilots legs to make them fit in those legs. The thigh gap is as wide as the pilots shoulders.
>>
>>97245552
Because the sculptors at GW are half-assed artists with no understanding of anatomy. The SoB mechs are just a repeat of the Space Marine Centurions from 7th edition just messing up the legs instead of the arms this time.

Which one do you recruit and why?

>Anyone who leads a group with a building is unlikely to leave that post. So that rules out abbots, superiors, priests and bishops in most cases. The pope is literally a senior administrative position and mostly concerned with management and both internal and external politics. Same for the bishop. Priests are stuck to their congregation and specialize in preaching more than practice. Monks are stuck to their monastery and serve by living an ascetic life and nuns are women and thus lack agency.

Depends on the noble rank of other members of the party. A Bishop wouldn't be that strange a holy man amongst a group (such as Charlemagne's Peers) supporting a King or Emperor. Abbots fit amongst upper nobility such as lesser Kings, Dukes, and Marquess. It would not be unexpected to have a Count or Baron receive council from the brother or sister superior from a convent or monastery in their lands. Knights would likely interact with the parish priesthood. Outside their monasteries frairs, monks and nuns would likely be the clergy interacting with the more common people.
>>
>>97226577
>A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
>>
>>97242569
Its not really about matching rank in my mind though. Its about who does what job. And bishops are managers. They dont do the work. They oversee people who do the work.
Priests do the work, but inherently statically and focussed to a specific place and populace. A friar conversely would be one that does the work in a more freestyle way. They have the agency over their direction, which is an essential part of being an adventurer. If they wouldn't have it, like a priest stuck to a building, their early roleplay would be about forcing them out. A friar is already out and about.

Similarly, anyone supporting Charlemagne wouldn't see direct combat. Kings, emperors, abbots, bishops popes... All managerial types. They don't generally do the work. Even Charlemagne himself, a warrior king who led from the front a lot did so less and less as he neared the peak of his power.

GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.
Optional rules allow you to emulate different genres with a single system, or even switch genres within a single game.

A nearly complete archive of GURPS books can be found by using the image. Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.

If you're wondering where to start:
- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.
- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres.
- How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players.
- GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.

Thread question: How often do you use an official GURPS setting? Which are your favorites?

Having higher combat skill already gives you more attacks (-6 to hit per extra attack) thanks to Rapid Strike. It should be fair to just extrapolate this rule to all combat maneuvers. For maneuvers that don't require a roll (Aim, Evaluate, Ready, etc.), the GM should ask for a roll using DX, IQ, or an appropriate skill at +6, minus the penalty for multiple maneuvers.
If you want actual Shadowrun initiative that gives everyone actual extra turns in combat, then that gets a bit more complicated. In Shadowrun, everyone rolls 1d6 + Reaction + Intuition for Initiative, with a roll of 10+ giving an extra Initiative Pass at your Initiative -10. And rolling 20+ gives a third turn at Initiative -20, rolling 30+ gives a fourth turn at Initiative -30, and so on. The average human has Reaction and Intuition of 3, for an average Initiative roll of 9 or 10.
In GURPS, turn order is determined by Basic Speed, which is 5 for the average human. To get Shadowrun Initiative, you might have everyone roll 1d+1 + Basic Speed at the start of combat to determine Initiative/Turn-Order. This gives the same average Initiative as above. Then give everyone an extra turn at Initiative-10 to anyone who rolls 10+, as above.
>>
>>97246141
Although, there already exists an advantage that gives extra turns (Altered Time Rate for 100/lvl). To be fair, you would have to add +10/lvl to the cost of Basic Speed, and +2.5/lvl to the cost of DX and HT. It's probably best to not tie extra turns to Basic Speed, but just have players take a skill penalty if they want to do multiple actions, or let them buy Altered Time Rate with a limitation (maybe worth -20%) that the extra turn occurs after everyone else has already taken their turn. Combine this with the Defensive enhancement (worth +20%), and you get a sum total modifier of +0%.
>>
>>97245806
Follow up damage already has 3x wounding. For an internal explosion. Also probably not since HE still has 0.5 AD.

I've run a number of games with these rules among others. APHEX tends to become the de facto standard ammunition, 2 AD, and 3x wounding is hard to pass up in 80% of cases. What tends to happen is torso, and head hits are largely unchanged (I use the 1 in 6 chance to turn torso hits into vitals even without targeting them, and most people aim for vitals anyway), while limb hits become far more dangerous. HP loss is still capped, but hitting the crippling, and severing thresholds is much more common. Random location rolls being how they are its much more likely to end a fight by blowing the target's limbs off then by knocking them out or killing them. So limb armor becomes more common.

Of course this is assuming that everyone has access to small caliber explosive rounds, and high quality body armor. If one side does and the other doesn't, its a lot like if one side has regular guns, and armor and the other doesn't.

I refuse to believe Halo Flashpoint is even a 10th as successful as Mantic claims. In terms of online, easy to find metrics it has:

3100 people as part of its sub(P)reddit.
2100 or so people as part of Facebook Groups.
No one discussing it on Twitter gets many likes/comments/retweets.
No one big or well known talks about/plays it on Youtube.

Yet it's one of the fastest growing and more popular tabletop games to come out recently?
I don't buy it.
I don't hate the system, but I am baffled by Mantic's ability to get away with lying about how successful this game is.

You’re underestimating the GW dominance. It doesn’t take a lot to make the top 10. Its also a perfect game alot of people are buying Flashpoint that are not tabletop gamers or buying it to paint alone or just have the box. Halo collectors are actually quite a big market especially since Star Wars died.

Its a phenomenally good game I haven’t touched it since last January but I fucking loved it and if I take a notion to play a minis game i’ll be digging it out.
If the retards had dropped a strong Covie box alongside the Spartan edition it would be huge in my area we had real traction on release but we did one tournament in January and despite it being really good it just died largely because the Elite players got smoked. Yes they’re strong in objective games but you needed two sword elites to match the Spartan meta and I for one couldn’t afford two Spartan editions to do that. The Banished box was a huge dud that didn’t sell locally or I suspect very well in general but that no dount that was 343 pressure to push infinite. It’s a great game and i’m looking forward to get back into it when theres Grunts, Jackals and Hunters.
Pic related my nail varnish drowned Chief.
>>
>>97238770
If GC had dropped before Fleet Battles it would have done gangbusters. Instead it dropped around Halo 5 when Halo fans were dropping the series for other things and then like a year later Spartan Games was gone.

Fleet Battles was cool but it was appealing to a tiny demographic.

It's very slowly evolving away from multiplayer and into a more general Halo universe skirmish game with the last two releases being Brutes and ODSTs, and apparently they've got Grunts and suchlike in the pipeline as well. I get the impression that they wanted to make a general Halo game from the start, but having it based on the multiplayer made it both an easier sell from the licensing standpoint (direct tie-in with the current video game) and a smaller initial investment for making the game what with all players using the same pool of miniatures.

Remains to be seen if they make any dramatic changes away from the multiplayer arena setup in terms of gameplay for future expansions, we'll just have to wait and see.

Agreed, gf got me some night gobs for christmas but theyre the AoS line. On the one hand those new squig hopper sculpts will have a lot more breathing room compared to trying to squeeze them on a 20, but on the other hand blackfire pass era night gobs look goofy on 25s, theyre so spaced out from each other, so im not really sure which way I should go with them
>>
>>97246509
I can’t decide for you but I just decided to base everything on old sizes, I’ve got way too many armies to rebase for an edition change.
No one I play with seems to care.

Anyway iv got a game today on that note. 2k tow vampire coast(tomb kings mort cult) fight a chaos nurgle warhorst for forbidden booty.
>>
>>97246509
Maybe get some movement tray adapter for the infantry goblins, because yeah skull pass goblins on 25s would look really bad imho, and it's a lot of work to rebase them. I always did feel that many units towards late wfb had outgrown their base size, but between effort going into rebasing and the fact that they do kind of technically invalidate your army for older editions idk myself

The reordering only works because Hermit Druid, like Balustrade Spy and Undercity Informer, mills everything in one go. Cephalid Illusionist mills in chunks, so you don't get to choose your graveyard order. All the manipulation stuff is necessary but neatly slots in, Psychatog acting as both a reorderer and a combo piece.

Can you explain to me, like a three-year-old, what's wrong with asks? Because to me, this system seems perfect for fantasy sandboxes, both for creating and then playing in them. Creation Band of the Falcon, organization a mafia, leading caravans to distant lands, or building your own magical tower possible any D&Dlike game, but only here are all these rules in one place, in a streamlined framework.

Hello, so I just recently entered the world of roleplaying (i'm a zoomer in the third world, this is very niche) and I decided to run OSE, specifically, keep on the borderlands, to a couple of friends, one which never played any ttrpg before (I just played a couple times actually).
It's all fun, I decided to start the adventure at level 3 because of the high lethality of old modules and the fact that clerics and mages without spells are a bore. It might be controversial but also I don't want my characters dying, they won't learn much by instantly dying off at the first trap. They are noobs used to fortnite, remember.
Anyways, I just wanted to say that, we are having fun roleplaying and throwing dice and I think that's the important part.
But I have a couple of questions, first off, how compatible are 2e modules to OSE? And I also wanted to get some good sandbox module recommendations, officials or not, i've checking the Isle of dread but that honestly looks boring despite the freedom it gives you, what's the bad evil guy? A couple snake men?
Also is it just me or are 2e adventure modules all linear railroads? All the sandbox modules I find are either indie or TSR classic.
Can you recommend me any ravenloft or dark sun campaign book that is full sandbox or there aren't any? I love those settings by the looks of them.
>>
>>97245637
they're compatible other than any missing monsters/spells and so on
most 2e adventures are linear because the culture shift towards storyfagging had already happened, hence why story xp is the default
>>
>>97245637
Aren't the campaign setting books basically gigantic sandbox modules?

Swallowtail 2 for the SSC Oracle LMG-I to mount on a Core Bonus GMS integrated mount to represent the head vulcans and chest machine guns, Blackbeard 2 or Black Witch 1 for the grapple cables and then a Charge Blade for the melee weapon? I don't think there's any other melee weapon that would fit and swing harder since the Plasma Thrower is Super Heavy.

Sad because I had to cancel tomorrow's session. Pic related is how my Christmas week has felt, with multiple calamities stacking up. Thankfully, my players were very understanding. I'll have to make it up to them next week.

Why the FUCK is his power armor broken? The Badab War was 100 years ago. This dude leads a legion-sized band of space marine pirates and is one of the wealthiest and most powerful space marine lords in the setting, on par with chapter masters of the first founding chapters.

WHY THE FUCK WOULD SOMEONE NOT HAVE FIXED HIS POWER ARMOR. Does GW even know their own fucking setting anymore?

Oh whoops. I completely failed to put a restriction on that, wew
I guess just pick something that fits. Regional Pokemon, out-of-region Pokemon belonging to a trainer, whatever you want to be.
I guess the usual "don't pick a legendary" clause is in effect but honestly, legendaries are probably closer to extremely rare and more powerful than average, rather than god-powered beings. At least in this world. Just pick something you actually want instead of trying to powergame it and you should be fine.

Sure. For now just pretend that origin has the same loose restriction as the companion option.
