For some time now, I've been developing my free game, an RPG/strategy interactive fiction simulator about a Dark Lord/Lady trying to conquer/destroy a fantasy world using intrigue, corruption, dark magic, and brutal military force.I have already sought and received your help several times, for which I am grateful.I am planning another major update, focusing primarily on the endgame. Players focused on direct conquest will have new ways to find loot—portals to crazy, Lovecraftian worlds, discovering new lands, and a magical slumber to wait for the rebirth of old enemies/the emergence of new ones (and seeing how the world changes in their absence). For players more interested in the less brutal side of world domination, the options for managing the territories of our empire will be expanded. Will you allow orcs to overrun Dark Elf cities? Will schools focus on training engineers for the army and economy, or on brainwashing them into blind obedience? Furthermore, I'm expanding the Dark Lord's interactions with other characters, including available romances. Of course, new content requires testing, and since, as usual, it's highly non-linear and dependent on player decisions (plus random generation), I can't test every combination myself. That's why I'm seeking the help of testers. Here is test version - no need for download, it is playable online in the browser, no need to register or download: https://adeptus7.itch.io/playtesting

I fucking hate Zern Arcanovores.
>>97372906if you meant in-game roleplay-wise >it periodically detects random thoughts from ones closest to you. A thirdd of the thoughts it chooses to detect is about the wielder and for those it always cherry The power cannot be controlled. That would make anyone suspicious of their allies If you want actual discord between players, things like:>the item protects its wearer from all negative effects by teleport exchanging him with other random people around him in a 100ft radius. >It only affects humanoids, not monsters. >It has a high chance (66%) to select people who spent the most time around the wielder >Whatever effect was about to be imparted on the wielder, has its DC increased by 3 when it lands upon whomever was teleported in his place.>enemies are twice as likely to attack the wielder as they are anyone else.Balance this by something desirable like an untyped +4 to highest ability score.
>>97376252some stuff got cut off there as I edited, for the first item>A third of the thoughts it chooses to detect is about the wielder and for those it always cherry picks the negative ones, or at least those it senses the wielder would see as negative.
>>97372906>>97376252and to clarify, for the second option the subtle part is meant to be the DC increase.I think most groups would learn to cope with the random replacements in return for a +4 bonus like that and assume that in of itself is the curse. if you exclude area effects, so they can never compare DC of the same effect on the different people, the increase should be relatively easy to hide. They might work it out on a repeating trap or something like that if they pay attention, but I think if so, just let them.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere. Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency. If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. Been working on my dungeon. Decided to make it orc-kobold-undead-kuotoa, so the players have even more factions to fuck around with. This is a sample. Thoughts on the formatting and ease of use?
>>97378009Looks okay. I'm not sure I would give away all those noises coming from other areas. Not sure how you mean to use them, but I'd place them in the rooms themselves, right at the top of each entry, for quick reference if somebody listens at the door.
>>97378009Also not sure why you refer to orcish as a "strange tongue". Chances are PCs will speak it, don't elves get orcish by default?
>>97377172As someone who once published through DTRPG?Completely agree. There are tens of thousands of products out there and most of them including mine looking back on it are crap

I'm planning on running a post-ROTJ EoE/AoR game where players work for the ISB in a post-Emperor Empire. Here's my crawl:"EMPEROR PALPATINE is dead! The DISASTER AT ENDOR has claimed the life of the autocratic center of stability in the Galaxy. In the ensuing battle the REBEL ALLIANCE was decimated by the remaining Imperial Fleet. Rebel leaders LUKE SKYWALKER, LEIA ORGANA, MON MOTHMA, and HAN SOLO are presumed dead or in hiding. The GALACTIC EMPIRE is reeling, fragmenting into warring REMNANT SECTORS: WARLORDS vying for control of portions of the galaxy; some of whom with interest in claiming the vacant IMPERIAL THRONEAs the powerful consolidate their positions, IMPERIAL FORCES which once policed the mid and outer rims have been drawn back to core worlds. Local despots, criminal syndicates, and pirates have filled the vacuum left by WARLORD forces as they form REMNANT STRONGOLDS.In this vacuum a number of the IMPERIAL HIGH COUNCIL have formed a regency, relying on influence through control of the vast network established by the IMPERIAL SECURITY BUREAU. "TBC
>>97380086Here's the initial brief:"ISB Brief DZ-1427Holobrief featuring ISB Major Lagret -Let’s get right to it gentlemen. While the Navy tries to douse fires erupting in every sector, you will be using the confusion to your advantage. You’ve been selected from among your peers for an aptitude to piece information together, recruit field assets, and maintain a sufficiently low profile. You will form the Clandestine Operations Group or COG of the ISB and COMPNOR as a whole. You will have whatever resources you need at your disposal. You will report directly to me and report directly to the Emperor. Henceforth you’ll correspond with me as codename “Gray”. You are subordinate to the ISB only. Anyone else including all sector Moffs or Warlords may be considered compromised. If the true nature of your purpose is detected, we will have no choice but to terminate the program and your efforts will be for naught. The rebellion, however organized, remains active and has become entirely covert. We will subvert their tactics and use them against them.I will be honest with you, troopers. The destabilization of the Galaxy by this most recent attempt on the Emperor’s life as well as the destruction of the Death Star has left the Empire stretched thin. Further instability could threaten to reverse the decades of progress that we have made in providing peace and safety to the trillions of lives who are our citizens. The new strategy of the Empire will be to refocus efforts away from direct action and, instead, increase the indirect response to the growing hostility by those who would seek to usurp power for themselves. You are part of that indirect option. You are the tip of the spear. "Goal will be a number of covert/clandestine operations as well as opportunities to go hot when indicated.
>>97380095PICREL is the first brief I came up with (I have more details if you guys think this is interesting).I have a few other scenarios planned including:>Starting a drug war between rival Hutt and Zann syndicate to destabilize a mid-rim sector. Goal is to install a controlled opposition.>Security breach is resulting in ISB agents in the field being burned, suggesting a mole. Some security transmission have been followed by rapid starfighter strikes to the ISB locations. Lines of communications to and from the Empire are now compromised>Infiltrate a rebel cell and determine a location of a meeting held by various ex-senator rebel planetary leaders before it happens. Goal is then to decide the approach on killing or apprehending the senators once they are gathered>A prequel mission where you are called by the Devastator (pre BoY) to some backwater planet callet Tatooine. You're instructed to disguise yourselves as stormtroopers and track down a pair of missing droids (mission critical). Leads will eventually take you to a farmhouse with an old couple.> False flag attack on imperial remnants/competing warlords>You are sent to observe and advise a corporate sector authority to arrest an old CIS war criminal. Twist: the advisors the party is attached to are complete fuck-ups.>Party is sent very deep to infiltrate an imperial high security prison (perhaps Kessel?) to "rescue" a COG/ISB agent so they can connect him with a Rebel arms dealer. Twist: the imprisonment of the ISB agent is a plant and the "rescue" is to establish credibility with the COG to plant them with the arms dealer's crew>JTAC rebel fleet in hiding
>>97380177A few other missions I've worked out>Quiet Election: DZ-1539- Planetary senator on Ketaris is set to formally orient with an independence movement. Intelligence shows that overt action is likely to cause planetary resources to divert and open rebellion. This system needs to remain intact. You have three standard days to prevent the announcement by any means necessary without creating a martyr.> Last LIGHT (DZ-16045)- A joint naval-ISB counter-terrorism unit conducted an annual simulated operation in the Nar Shaddaa sector. During said exercise, simulated actors initiated a real attack on the operatives- killing or capturing many of them. Fleet and Army assets cannot be mobilized to avoid this becoming public, raise the attention of the local Hutts, and draw precious assets away from Core Rim operations. You are the closest operational team and must identify the attackers, minimize civilian fallout, and ensure no record survives of the original operation. This includes those purview to the original operation.>Operation Dark Mirror (DZ-1855)- Mid-level imperial officials of the Abrion Sector have been exhibiting some concerning patterns including selective mercy, over compliance with local authorities, and delay in enforcement of imperial edict. Your job is to perform an audit, perform loyalty tests, and identify if these officials remain compliant with the cause without causing them to defect.

It kinda annoys me how the anime just... ignores the energy generator completely most of the time. There were a couple of scenes in the first few episodes and occasionally someone decides to actually mention that they set the generator, but I feel like I'd enjoy the concept more if Divinez gave more focus to it. If charging the generator had some kind of flashy visual or something to make it feel cool.

Nuclear take here, I think a season like Deluxe Finals is what D series has been missing, and I think it could use more of it. The problem with D series is that it barely has time to breathe because of the 13 episode seasons. I actually WANT more filler. It makes the setting feel more lived in. The fluff before Michiru vs. Akina has been some of my favorite because it feels more like original Vanguard. No stakes, no competition, just card games for the sake of it. I missed that. S1 of overDress attempted that sometimes, but it just wasn't as good. You need more time.

He 'has' to be the platonic ideal of a guy, or else He's just full of Himself. Gnosticism is in agreement that Platonic Guy exists, but disagrees Yahweh is the Guy.
>>97379909Indeed. Gnosticism (or rather proto-gnosticism from the pagan mysteries) also had some influence on some of the jews writing the NT, which is why you see things like anti-natalism in there.
do they explain how *not highlander Immortals* AKA perpetuals came into being? or Emperor was just lucky to be born as super special mutie (perpetual + alpha ++ spyker)? I Know old lore that he was supposed to be soul construct of thousands of early mankind spykers, but IIRC it was retconned in HH books as no longer valid/Emperor being *just* powerful mutie who happens to be very very lucky winner of genetic lottery?
So I bought this as I really like Conan 2d20 System and I was surprised that system appears to be very rules lite compared to Conan 2d20 or WHFR 4E and a lot of rules and stuff appears to be on GM to flesh out. Usually i pay for RPG books because i don't want to figure out how much damage or to hit modifier some fancy sword has but in Dune core rulebook, its precisely that, book demands that i figure it out instead of giving me stat blocks. may be its just I'm retarded, or this system is lazy slop cashing in on movie craze?
>>97378467Your loss. The way they handled Star Trek Adventures was Rules Light and crunch-heavy. Tons and tons and tons of play options, ship stats and setups, races and functions and things to do. A player economy of stress and success to push back and forth and extended tests that could last an hour. All managed with an incredibly simplistic, 2d20 (or up to 5d20) roll. It's genuinely a masterpiece of TTRPG design.
>>97378943>We put in all this effort to include stuff>But then we made it pointless by reducing it all to a single roll>This is "elegant" and not "fucking retarded shrimplified trash for ickle babbies"
>>97378943"My loss" would be wasting more time and money with yet another system claiming to be a game, only to end up hearing "sorry that doesn't fit in with the story I'm trying to tell" and sitting around doing nothing while retards make voices at each other most of the session. That aside, if I wanted Dune and Star Trek, I'd just go watch their respective media. It isn't really my loss at all, because I'd rather spend my time testing mechanics I like to use in a game someday.
>>97378875> How does it set up "the session." That I don’t know, I only skimmed the book before shelving it.But if I were to speculate, given the power and status the PCs are likely to poses right out of the gate, my guess would be to expect the game to play more like an open-world sandbox. The degree to which being based on status.
I asked one of veteran players at my local hobby shop/club and they said that Dune is similar to Fate as a lot of what you can do is moderated by "assets" you have, which can range from character aspects like "honorable" or "Duelist", to special knowledge you have like kompromats or special gear you have. Assets work in similar fashion as aspects in fate. They also said item i have (agents of dune) is good for initial run and getting hang of the system as its designed to ease in into using system fully. >>97378875like >>97379650 said, your PC are either heads of house or very high ranking retainers so its usual stuff of increasing prestige/power of the house, corporate warfare between rival houses (as each house produce stuff, so you want to sabotage competitors while protecting yours) and appeasing powerful factions such as sisterhood, guild, the Emperor etc.
