It mostly won't happen out of the fact that, apart from stuff like the old Deathtrooper novels and some of those uber grimdark Darkhorse comics, Star Wars is a rather bloodless franchise and always has been. And Berserk doesn't particularly work without that excess of gore emphasizing just how far our character has gone.

Like >>97368608 has said, the concept just doesn’t fit. Not only is Star Wars awfully tame in the “gore” department. It also lacks the tone and themes for it. Star Wars is ultimately a very bright and optimistic setting. Even at its darkest moments when the forces of evil seem triumphant, their victory is never ultimate. It gets that from one of Lucas’s wells of inspiration: fairy tales. Star Wars is a fairy tale told in space. From Luke, “the hero of a thousand faces”, Han, “the dashing rogue with a heart of gold”, Leia “the princess in need of rescue” even if she also subverts the role by being the most competent of the three and their adventure to defeat the evil wizard and his ruthless, black-clad general. Luke even meets a weird magical creature along the way that rewards him with wisdom and a boon for being a good person Yoda, if it wasn’t obvious

It’s all there. And those stories are innately optimistic, hell, even Rogue One is an optimistic take because, yeah, their sacrifice ultimately mattered. which honestly means trying to force a cynical gore fest of a story like berserk is just going to go about as well as trying to shoehorn cosmic horror into Star Wars, cringey.

GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.
Optional rules allow you to emulate different genres with a single system, or even switch genres within a single game.

A nearly complete archive of GURPS books can be found by using the image. Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.

If you're wondering where to start:
- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.
- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres.
- How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players.
- GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.

Thread question: what's the best classic GURPS cover art?

Well okay, but how come every depiction of them in popular media is like "NYC slumwarren/London Rookerie by with augmetics?" There doesn't seem to be any thought into how life in them would actually be.

How do they get medical care, which they must have since hive cities are said to be always growing and not having the huge population die-offs that human cities have always had until penicillin was invented. There never seem to be drivable roads or vehicles either, except in Eisenhorn: Xenos where the game gives you enough space between buildings for a flyer to slip in.

Or when it comes to cathedrals and things, every piece of art seems to assume the cathedrals are just surrounded by plazas and open space, with no parking garages and such, and hive gangers like in Necromunda just walk around places spending their cash on hair dye and bullets with the only form of mass transportation being a freight train. Where are the bikes? Where are the futuristic segways?

Are we meant to assume that life in the hives are like lives in a Hollywood Dark Age movie, where nobody goes more than 5 miles away from their home in the shittiest little village/hab neighborhood where everything is corroded and nothing works except for what a heretek fixes and they're only allowed 4 hours of sleep before going back to the factory to work?

Or if it is supposed to reflect the megacities and 60s public housing, is there a huge undercurrent of consumerist behavior that is just never shown? Where masses and masses of waste are generated by daily living with hive people buying up disposable and tacky shit to make their lives a little bit easier for a few hours? Because otherwise everything seems to suggest life sucks for people living in hives unless you happen to be connected to an interstellar merchant cartel or are born into wealth.

New year new me edition

>Cyberpunk 2020 vs. Cyberpunk RED?
Cyberpunk 2020 is the second edition of the Cyberpunk TTRPG that focuses on simulation gameplay and has a black trenchcoat aesthetic.

Cyberpunk RED is the fourth edition of the Cyberpunk TTRPG that is set after Cyberpunk 2020 following the Fourth Corporate War, focuses on more balanced gameplay and is more streamlined but has less content.

You can discuss Shadowrun here too because I also feel bad for those guys.

Nice. Since RCL was originally just a 'hate' gang I introduced them as every hate group (white nationalists, black hoteps/israelites, MS-13, the Amish, etc) forced together because nobody else wanted them around. Their goal was to get enough money for the whole group so they can split NC before 'the end' as the 4chan gang a lot of the gang are oldfags and one is a netrunner who still runs the old NET and an AI gave him a copy of Cyberpunk 2077 as a bootleg prophecy and since Red Chrome Legion isn't in that game the netrunner is trying to get the gang out safely. The trick was I introduced a few gang NPCs to the crew as support on a few jobs and they began to find them charming.

This. Red is pretty pussified. I'm old and responsible, and am not allowed to say niggerfaggot any longer; and Red is lukewarm milk. Mike is gone, and the attitude era is over. I don't crave a return to early 00s performative edge, but I am sorely disappointed that Red lacks teeth to really have an opinion one way or another. General has gone over it before but Red struggles with showing the dark elements with gravitas, and giving the setting relevant NPCs some grit. When they do "tech with personas to interact with" gags they could at least add a humanity drain on them, rather than relegating them to 'annoying girlfriend gun' and 'the man was already crazy before he fell in love with his phone'. Come on, kids being glued to their smartphones is bad, right? IT'S A SOFTBALL COME ON!

My biggest issue with DGD isn't the tone of it, but the fact that it has nothing to say about organized crime, just street gangs. Where's the info on the Mafia, the Yakuza, the Triads, the cartels or even the Bratva? Does the catgirl brigade not care about them?
>>

Using a gaming piece makes it on-topic, doesn't it? I'll post it later when I'm home.

Necromancy Edition

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What Trench Crusade is not
TC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

What are you on about? Having high might is a bonus, and having low toughness is a penalty. How would you implement a low aptitude in a particular area that isn't a penalty? That doesn't make any sense.

I was going to make fun of you for the slop pic but then I read the post and must instead, reluctantly, say that I laughed and forward you to the based department to solicit further quality posts.

Thank you for your attention on the matter.

sealed is a little more chill but also more luck based since you see less cards
limited in general you can just get fucked over by unlucky opens (and draws of course)
draft is really good value if you want the cards in the set you are drafting, and okay value otherwise if you maintain a good winrate

Gotta admit I liked the Avatar set. It helps that I never saw the show and don't know anything about it so it being UB had less of an effect. But the mechanics are fun, art is good and I always liked monks in magic. Only a few busted cards imo. Fun limited. The only thing I know from the show, elemental mastery, seemed implemented well. Surprised there wasn't a black bending mechanic, like gravebending or some shit

Black bending would be a Korra thing, they used Gender Bending to make everyone gay and lose their bending abilities.

Yeah I think I got lucky in the free sealed event since I was essentially gifted an excellent mardu firebending deck. I know it would suck if you were given a less synergistic pile. I usually can't into signals but I've been trying to draft better, only done a few from Avatar but got my first 7 wins just now :D I did have the draftsmith ratings for a bit of guidance but I didn't look at the "suggested pick" thing

I like the stained glass lands, but 5K GOLD A PIECE??
