I'm a GM looking for three to four players for a house ruled game of warhammer fantasy roleplay. The game is meant to run weekly on Saturdays at 3 p.m (GMT-3) for 3 to 4 hours with small breaks in between.

The game will be hosted through Roll20 and dicord vc. You need to have a decent mic and be willing to communicate between sessions to coordinate and sort out game stuff. I don't intend this to be a pay to play game, but if people feel like helping footing the bill for a hosting service we can use Foundry as the VTT.

The game takes place in the city of Ubersreik in the year 2512 of the imperial calendar during the occupation by the Reikland state army. If any of this sounds good to you leave your discord tag so I can pm you for further details and a small interview.

The game is kind of messy so there is a good amount. The most notable ones are:

- Character creation changes so that you spend XP, rather than doing the default advancement allocation minigame. Species skills being ones you choose to add to your career, or gain a discount on advancing them if they are already a part of it.

- Melding metacurrencies together so as to not have to track four individual ones, and striping the more niche uses out of the more commonly used Fortune points.

- Changes to individual combat Advantage to make it so that it doesn't result in games of rocket tag.

Other than that there's things like using optional rules from the official supplements like the Critical Wound tables and Injury rules from Up in Arms, and the improvements to spellcasting from Winds of Magic.
>>

>on Saturdays at 3 p.m (GMT-3)
Really not my timezone, good luck finding players. WFRP 4e is fun.
>>
>>97403516
would love to join but my saturdays have floating dark heresy

by the way, is the metacurrency melding tested or are you going to try and see? So far I've been using Fortune and Fate once because GM preferred to take it instead of Resilience when I wanted to use I Will Not Fail. From what I've read I feel like everything except Fate is way too ambiguous to be reliably spent
>>
>>97403946
No worries mate, thanks for the encouragement. Yes, it is pretty fun.
>>
>>97403984
It's mostly from personal experience of how much use each of them gets, but it is the first time I'm melding them like this.

Fortune you use non-stop mostly due to the rerolls (the other options are seldom used), Resolve is more niche because it replenishes too slowly and at GM fiat, and Resilience is handy but the mutation prevention only happens if you are both unlucky and careless, and I Will Not Fail is incredibly useful but the game provides little guidance for when to use it.

GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.
Optional rules allow you to emulate different genres with a single system, or even switch genres within a single game.

A nearly complete archive of GURPS books can be found by using the image. Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.

If you're wondering where to start:
- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.
- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres.
- How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players.
- GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.

Thread question: what's the best classic GURPS cover art?

Serendipitous Guidance (Power-Ups 5, p. 8) says that one use of Serenity is equivalent to 2 impulse points (i.e. it is capable of a moderate change rather than a minor one). Wild, Wild Destiny (ibid, p. 5) or Other Kinds of Points (ibid, p. 18) allows you to buy impulse points at [5] per level, but they don't all refresh every session! A single impulse point which refreshes every session is worth [15], so Serendipity is actually a 50% discount on impulse points except for the special case of having no IP by default and buying a single one, which would indeed get you the equivalent of half a level of Serendipity for less than half the price of Serendipity, while being more flexible. However, this can never get you the level of coincidence that Serendipity offers, only adding things which 'fit the scene perfectly'.

2 Impulse Point with "Doubly Aspected: Only for serendipity" cost 4, recharging an extra point is 10, so actually by using impulse points you end up with costing 14 to do the same thing.

if you want the boss to have such a large number of henchmen from a narrative standpoint that it would unbalance combat from a mechanical standpoint, you can just use lair actions or the boss’s legendary actions to make attacks with the goons, and give each group of them one npc’s worth of hitpoints so the players can kill them off and the lair/boss no longer has access to that action. instead of them each being a fully statted npc with their own turns, etc.

>more or less has their internal chaos situation figured out
No one has chaos figured out. You are either threatened by it like the Imperuim, borderline destroyed by it like the eldar or you are just magically not affected by it like every other faction cuz the writers can't be bothered making chaos orks and nids
>>
>>97403920
Have you thought that maybe not everyone is a blithering moron willing to listen to literal demons from hell or a guy called Skullraper the Fucklord who dresses up in the still screaming peeled off faces of his brothers? Chaos is a problem to the Eldar because they were retarded back then, and are still paying for their price. It is a problem to the DEldar and the Imperium because they STILL ARE retards. Everybody else doesn't care because they have an average IQ that goes above a single digit.
>>
>>97403964
It's ok to admit it's poorly written
You don't have to do mental gymnastics to excuse it
>>
>>97404012
The Imperium having made its own demise is a central aspect of the setting. Psykers turn to Chaos because they are treated like dirt by the Imperium to the point where they find more kinship with demons then with their own people. People abandoned and left to rot turn to Nurgle, nobles and the wealthy turn to Slaneesh in the frenzy of hedonism the Imperium lets them get away with, their living weapons turn to Khorne because war is all they know, what matters if they fall deeper into it. The Imperium gave Chaos its armies, its weapons, and the main Chaos army is CHAOS SPACE MARINES. The Imperium and the Eldar being Chaos' main prey is appropriate- they literally created it.

There's also no reason for a DM to run a long-running game for a bunch of randos before knowing how they play unless that DM is being paid which I doubt it's the case here.
>>
>>97401135
I've seen both extremes a lot. Players who throw down a thick binder of over-prep, and players who walk in with no character sheet and just tell you to hand them whatever. Neither one is necessarily more familiar with the actual rules and mechanics, but the first one is likely to have an emotional meltdown when their character dies ignominiously at level 1. The second player is probably going to spend the whole night on their phone and basically need the GM to play for them.
>>
>>97396362
Oneshots should have pregens.
>>
>>97399563
This.
When normies say they want D&D, it means they want to pretend they're a Critical Role cast member, and when they realize that your ideas conflict with their Critical Role fantasy, they decide that they don't care anymore.
They want to imagine a fantasy version of the hobby, you want to expose them to reality. It's incompatible, and it's why you should ignore people asking you to run D&D. If they ask you to run "something" then they actually care about entering the hobby.
>>
>>97403643
Only if they're being used to introduce someone to the system, otherwise stop being fucking lazy especially if you're looking for a DM and not running it yourself.

The thing is, the Storytelling system and its derivatives works well when rolls are only called for when the outcome of a roll is of consequence. That is to say, if someone has enough or too few dots in something, a roll shouldn't be called unless dramatically appropriate.

Hunger and its related systems in the other X5 systems work great when it's run as such. However, people like rolling dice. This leads to frenzying becoming more common than probably intended.
>>
>>97403992
All you need to do is only care about the hunger dice when it's feasible a frenzy could happen, instead of doing it literally every time the dice say so. Also, the hunger dice just make it so that whatever you do is obviously vampire.
If the hunger dice came up while a player was picking a lock, I would probably ignore them. If I didn't ignore them, it might be as simple as them using their vampire strength to break the doorjam, which isn't ideal but it won't cause a masquerade breach.
This idea that you need the player to frenzy and start ripping people in half in the streets because of the hunger dice is stupid, and if that's how you're treating the dice, then yeah, when you play the game in a stupid way, stupid things happen.
How big of an impact the hunger dice have is within the control of your storyteller, so if the storyteller is botching it, it's their own fault.

The DNDs' Fighter can stop Red Wedding!

Fighter remembers... World has no Tony Stark because all Stark dies in Red Wedding! Takes uber back to Medieval Europe... goes to Craig's List, finds Ad! Posted by Bob Stark... looks like David the Dalmatian! 'This is literally Red Wedding, come here everyone!'

Remember Reasons why Red Wedding happens? 2 Reasons... first, Band is playing Rains of Castarkand!

Band is shakying and crying... no more singing Rains of Castarkand! Reason 1 solved...

2nd Reason? Guys shooting Xbow everywhere! Everyone says 'This is literally bf andromeda from fsn!"
This is bad... Xbow is stronger than Gun! Pope had to ban Xbox because Xbow is too op!
Fighter remembers... you know Souledge? Ending of Souledge... Mitsurugi fights literal Gun God... Tanegashima, inventor of Gun!

▶What is Kingdom Death?
Kingdom Death is a tabletop miniature brand stared by Adam Poots and operated by himself and his Team that later spun off into a miniature based bored game funded by two very successful Kickstarter campaigns.

▶What is Kingdom Death: Monster?
Monster is a Nightmare Horror cooperative boss battler/miniature hobby game for 1-4 players about hope in a strange world of bizarre monstrosities and perpetually darkness. Players take on the role of survivors that band together to form a settlement, fighting monsters, crafting weapons and gear, and developing their civilization to ensure survival from generation to generation.

Prologue Narration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNLc8dHv0Ac

The Game is broken up into 3 phases:
1. During your Hunt Phase your band of survivors traverse the world of KD in pursuit of their quarry.
2. After successfully tracking your quarry you will begin the Showdown Phase, where you must fell these horrific creatures in order to acquire precious resources.
3. After the battle, your survivors wander home with loot in hand to begin the Settlement Phase. Arm yourself by developing new weapons and bizarre structures to prepare for next year's hunt.

>>
>>97394480
>nemesis fights desu
Look you absolute knuckle dragging simian; if you put two subpar items into a core set and then put an instant-kill that's associated with those two items, you are telling your average player to not bring those. I don't think calling me a pussy and then bringing up nemesis fights is a good argument. Nemesis hunts account for 7 on average in a campaign, and even then, you probably have better things to do with your gear 99% of the time. I am saying that the game is pushing even mid-experienced players away from bringing these items on a core game experience, but this doesn't even account for all the expansions that focus on this gear (smoggos).
Generate an actual argument next time instead of just wiping your ass with your bare hand and then reading the shit streaks to generate your response.

I don't have to take this shit from a retard who forgot about nemesis fights lmao. The music stuff is fantastic for them, and you completely skipped over them despite how much more dangerous they are compared to normal hunts. The hunt phase is also NOT GOOD to be in dumbass. Every random hunt event rolled is a fucking danger. It's not another thing you use for your survivors to get stronger.

I'm not even going to bother to read your posts too, since I stopped reading past your initial dumbass insult. You may as well spare yourself the effort, and I'm sure it is an effort lmao, and stop responding altogether, since I'm not going to read them.

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What Trench Crusade is not

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

I did not. We actually screwed it up a bit looking at the rules for the mission (No Man's Land) and we thought that there was no middle point to capture, only the two that we each have on our base. Mission forbids infiltration, so my assassins couldn't advance that much forward.

Despite those disadvantages I was still doing pretty well at first until the Trench Cleric on his side got an insane activation with a grenade toss, charge, fight, then advance unto my point. I managed to clear him off in the end, but it put me at a point deficit that I wasn't quite able to make up at the end of the game.

Final scoring was 14-18.
