Just wanted to make sure since it happened in DCGO.

>Playing Gaiomon against Hudie
>They DP reduce my Gaio with Hudie then swung
>I block with Gaio and suspended Yuuko
>Yuuko not only buffed the Gaio but also undid the DP reduction prior

I was told at locals that the protection only worked for effects after the Yuuko was suspended. Was the sim incorrect in this case?

immunity in digimon doesn't prevent effects from being applied to you
it makes you immune to your opponents effects for the duration of the immunity, the effects are still there, you just ignore them

so if an effect lasts longer than your immunity, the effect will still be on you after your immunity ends
if you gain immunity when an effect is on you, then the effect no longer does anything to you

Gw makes most of their money from whales and aunts/moms buying stuff for their teenage son or nephew.

one of their former product designers explained some thing called a "hobby trumpet" where the flared portion of the trumpet are naive and uninformed gift buyers. the narrow part of the trumpet you blow on are the experienced hobbyists and modelers who know where to buy everything cheaper.

Seems like an easy and common conversion already, knight helmets are in great abundance. Personally in the modern sea of eldensoulslop I prefer the Stormcast death masks to yet another John Darksouls, but I can see the appeal, though I'd think the sculpted musculature of their armor would lend more to Roman style helms.

If and when you have to start over from scratch how and where (online) would you start I'll look for groups and games?
There has been numerous reasons that would force someone to start all over again be it scheduling, life, work, people changing.

New year new me edition

>Cyberpunk 2020 vs. Cyberpunk RED?
Cyberpunk 2020 is the second edition of the Cyberpunk TTRPG that focuses on simulation gameplay and has a black trenchcoat aesthetic.

Cyberpunk RED is the fourth edition of the Cyberpunk TTRPG that is set after Cyberpunk 2020 following the Fourth Corporate War, focuses on more balanced gameplay and is more streamlined but has less content.

You can discuss Shadowrun here too because I also feel bad for those guys.

I agree with you, yet given the fact that it's a pretty big company, they most likely done the best choice business wise and much more well informed than we are.
I'm no economics major, but there was a stock market speculation around the release, there's also the factor not all people that buy it on console will eventually return it for 100% cash. My guess is that even making a PC exclusive release would push back console players into unifinished AAA mindset, hence I'm positive they just did what every AAA company does, which is making serious motherfucking money

Other than artificially limiting special ammo types to arrows (I'm lookin at you James), what other gimmick does an archer have?
I only see that arrows are somewhat quiet, or at least pretty quiet compared to firearms, even silenced ones.
To be more transparent: a >>97398214 grenade can be launcher from a grenade launcher.
And a >>97398329 microphones, sensors and shit could be also launched with less primitive methods.
That being said, I've seen a fun custom made FBC on official discord homebrew that was all about mobility (so much leg enhancements it's unreal), really enhanced sensors and fun fluff that it was a bounty hunter choice, and they hunt like Yautja, doing massive jumps between tree branches n shit.
I'd post it's art which was pretty fucking awesome, but I cant find it, maybe some other anon will help with it.
Also it explicitly used regular ass bows, but it would take like 3 minutes to homebrew FBC bows.

Any advice? They're all new to playing D&D as well as well so I'm hoping to fake it til I make it.
34 replies and 2 images omitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>97403276
This is the true answer. Most people are happy enough to play that if you put in some effort to figure out what you're doing they'll probably be happy.
>>
>>97398534
>I've lied to my friend group
See, you might not have DM experience, but you've already figured out the fundamentals.
>>
>>97398534
You really can fake it til you make it. >>97398560 is great advice. Most DMs suck because they didn't have their material ready in advance, and premade modules fix that real quick. LMoP is nice and simple, which is good because players complicate shit really fast. Just have the maps ready, the tokens in place, and all the monster sheets on hand, and you'll be better than a solid 90% of people who have ever DMed so long as you don't modify anything. Don't worry about it being too easy, as players love thinking they were good enough to make it easy and don't know anything about encounter design. Trust me, no one is going to question your experience when they're all too busy thinking about what the fuck their PC even is or what they can do. If anyone does actually question why something is the way it is, just say "that's what's in the book" and they will believe you 100% of the time.

In short: Phandelver it up and just play everything straight. You got this OP.
>>
So how long should a boss fight take exactly? The last test took 80 minutes but that could be shaved down by not needing to reference rules as much

In this case every turn a d4 determines how many more skeletons get summoned unless they realize the orb in his hand is the source of that annoyance and get it away from him
>>
>>97406276
Fight time lengths are hard to predict, although more enemies, PC's having long lists of powers and players at the table all definitely compound time. How much time a player will take to talk/think/strategize on each new turn is a wildly variable thing own its own, especially for beginners.
I would say a big fight like a boss fight takes the better part of an hour at minimum, and if you actually ONLY spent 40 minutes (from introducing, fighting and concluding that boss fight) that would be uncommon.

Make sure you describe the Boss orb as glowing/sparking during the summoning as a hint! and if they don't catch on and start struggling, let them roll intelligence or something to put the pieces together.

Is there a reason we have so few games with a Gothic or Victorian inspired setting but a trillion rehashes of medieval fantasy, science-fiction or some eastern setting with katanas?

>>
>>97406201
No, but the victorian aesthetics existed in the United States at the same time as cowboys. It's hard for people to conceptualize, but the Victorian era spanned from 1837-1901. For instance, the beginning of the Oregon Trails times started in the 1840s and was heavily spurred on by the gold rush. The cowboy era was post civil war (1865) to 1880s/90s. A lot of victorian styles homes were built out West, but in the cities. People have a hard time conceptualizing that rural areas in the past were a lot different than they are now. It was harder to get to them and people still traveled slower. Much slower than today. Information as well. The settings and aesthetics are so different that it's hard to imagine them happening at the same time. Looking up inventions and first usages is interesting. The first car (motorized carriage) was 1885/1886.

Yeah, after dying twice in the west I doubt it's coming here again. Especially considering it's not super hot in JP anymore.

TL;DR
>New format/reboot (Standard) which aims to simplify the game
>All spirits now only have two levels (for now at least)
>Second main phase after battle phase and some new mulligan rules
>Increased importance of the soul core for new card types
>Standard will be the main focus for releases (a set in April and 6 new starter decks to start) but Eternal (following the old design philosophy and have all cards playable) will get two sets a year
>Card frame and look redesign (supposed to be coming this month)

I do think that STR and CON should be combined if DEX exists. Alternatively, DEX should be seperated in an offensive and defensive component (ie AGI). DEX does way to much while STR does almost nothing and is a dump for 99%of classes.
>>
>>97399769
I accept your concession.
>>
>>97405915
STR is a lot more important if the GM properly enforces encumbrance rules. Unfortunately 95% of groups totally ignore them since it requires a modicum of bookkeeping which the average theater kid is incapable of doing.
>>
>>97405915
Nah. Might is for close attacks and lifting. Agility is for ranged attacks and active defense. Toughness is for passive defense and recovery rolls. Might and Toughness affect max health, Agility affects Edge. All three are used in combat stunts, each may be used as baseline for at least one power, and each improves usage of different gear. They're all useful for any hero, and none is strictly better.

That man is destined for a bright future in the kingdom, it doesn't mean he'll travel with the PCs. But they should definitely hear of his exploits. Perhaps he becomes Knight-Captain, and is given a parcel of land along with his new title. Or at least he is raised to Commander of the castle guard.

Definitely give him a name. It doesn't have to be fancy, it shouldn't be actually. Perhaps he gives the party a very simple name, but if they meet again or overhear something about him a longer form of the name is used. Greg vs Gregorie, Rich vs Richard kinda thing.

Welcome to /wbg/, the official thread for the discussion of in-progress settings for traditional games.

Here is where you go to present and develop the details of your worlds such as lore, factions, magic and ecosystems. You can also post maps for your settings, as well as any relevant art (either created by you or used as inspiration for your work). Please remember that dialogue is what keeps the thread alive, so don't be afraid of giving someone feedback or post whatever relevant input you might have!

As the big good monsters *helping* the heroes kill the bad monsters. More like pagan gods than animals, really.
>>
>>97406213

There are multiple ways. One is to be an attention whore, if you foment a culture that encourages nobility to constantly praise you, they won't have time to plot against you. You can also consistently side with another social class that supports you and use them as a hammer against the nobility. You can have a secret police or spy force that it is loyal to you, and you alone. You can use parallel hierarchies, for example the church to reinforce your authority and by pass noble authority etc. In the end, it is a game of divide and conquer.
>>
>>97406213

A monarch who is broke is always beholden to someone. The most successful monarchs were those who secured independent revenue (like crown lands, colonial trade, or direct taxation) so they didn't have to ask the nobles for money every time they wanted to go to war.
>>
>>97406238
Can a monarchy do ALL of the above? To keep an Imperial Cult to legitimize their rule, maintain a secret police to hunt anyone who commits lese-majeste, and maintain a group of otherwise disenfranchised loyalists that owe their position to the King and can balance the noble houses?

>>97406248
In other words, a monopoly on the means of wealth. Land, minerals (like iron or salt), and maybe even commerce.

Am I right?

Is your experience with TTRPGs more broad, or deep? Have you played a variety of systems, or mostly focused on a single one? I'm interested in what modern /tg/ looks like in this regard. What year did you first play a TTRPG? For the purposes of this thread, we're not counting solo RPGs or one/two page games.

In no particular order, list which TTRPGs you have played at least one campaign in, indicating editions if you think it matters. If you GM'd that system, put an asterisk next to it.

>What year did you first play a TTRPG?
I don't remember specifically but the first close approximation in playing with a ttrpg was with HeroQuest in 1994-5? (i was 8-9), at my friend house, i got the real thing in 1996? when my father gifted me the Dragon's Den becmi boxed set (picrel), but to be fair i didn't understand much of it. It was only in 1998-9 that i finally got to play at a real table in my town's lgs with a MERP group.

You piss on charcoal and mix it with guano.

The game's balance intends you to have all your attunement slots filled, even if it's uncommon level trash your Artificer can put together during a long rest.
>>
>>97387856
Artificer were never supposed to make guns. Guns in a magic setting are lame as shit, get a bandolier of wands like a real man.

Artificer can do awesome crazy shit within the rules & any appeal to pushing the envelope outside the rules is stupid at best & counter productive at worse. Why butter your DM up to let you make some shitty revolver when you can make a spell trap weapon? Why jury rig some stupid overcomplicated string loaded contraption when you can just use a wand with a spell that ends the fight from the start?

A mechsuit like iron man? How fucking quaint, I'm sorry I breifly turned my self into a tree to permanently hyperboost all my mental stats beyond anything in the Monster Manuel. Then I turn myself into a bio construct that doesn't need to eat or breath or shit while still looking 100% human. My skin is tougher than epic dragon hide with a simple monk's belt (which I made custom to be an implanted jewel, or inscribed as a tattoo or such so it can't be stolen. I've poured so much magic into my physical form I can slug Kord out by level 12. I can rip your mechsuit like tissue paper. I'm flying around in an Indestructible, invisible castle, not some hokey airship.

Learn to be a real Artificer, not some wannabe magic greasemonkey
>>
>>97388168
Its both really. You can do some truly degenerate shit in games with proper crafting systems entirely RAW. But you're correct that people having problems with op crafted shit in D&D is entirely a DM issue.
