Let's try it again edition

Previous thread:

>What is /awg/?
A thread to talk about minis and games which fall between the cracks, or peoples' homebrew wargames.
The >>>/tg/hwg thread doesn't entertain fantasy (for good reason) and the other threads are locked to more specific games.
This thread isn't tied to a game, a publisher, or a genre, let's just talk about fun wargames. Any scale, any company, any miniatures.

>Examples of games that qualify.
A Song of Ice and Fire, Argatoria, Batman Miniature Game, Carnevale, Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings,
Deadzone, Dragon Rampant, Dropfleet and Dropzone Commander, Freebooter's Fate, Frostgrave, Gaslands, HeroClix,
Kings of War, Maelstrom's Edge, Malifaux, Marvel Crisis Protocol, Masters of the Universe: Battleground, Moonstone,
Oathmark, OnePageRules, Open Combat, RelicBlade, Rumbleslam, SAGA, StarCraft, Stargrave, Sludge, Urban War, Void,

How's the new edition of Conquest First Blood looking? I've always liked the aesthetic and sculpts for Conquest but I hate the idea of rank and flank on 38mm scale with about ten different models, it's just a little silly. Seems like First Blood fixes that problem for me.

They'll be showing off the new rules in February. But historically, First Blood has always lagged significantly behind Last Argument in terms of resources and attention from both the company and the community. While I'm hopeful the new version is decent and turns things around for First Blood, I'm not holding my breath until I see the actual rules.

I'm looking for duelist / flintlock-wielding girls who'd fit into a Warhammer Fantasy RPG. Sadly, it's really hard to any that don't look too anime.

But this makes sense, the Legions were bamboozled 10,000 years ago. They've had time to understand that The Lost and The Damned is more than just a band name. They've either sullenly accepted or just went crazy so it doesn't matter.
The ones who are still naive enough to buy into the whispered promises are the warbands, The Sanctified, Flawless Host, etc. That's where you go for Chaos piety and fresh faith.

>to let their masters fight without ever stopping even for a moment.
that is exactly the idea
toads in the thick of it are a whirlwind of extremely precision violence that play around one another and it would be a waste to have them even bother with slotting another magazine into their weapons and insodoing interrupt said dance playing out
the most that is afforded is planting their weapon into the surface below to have their assistants reload their shit before picking it back up again and it's all laid out to be quite a seamless and efficient affair
they -could- do it by themselves but with the luxury of helpers around it's handed off to them instead
>>
>>97390185
Its custodes, their entire existence and narrative purpose is as wank. Theyre the setting designate marie sues, the specialisest bestest ever boys designed to make marines look like guardsmen.
You could write that each one of their bolt-shells is hand crafted by the finest smiths in the imperium, and that the process is so long and difficult that most die after only one such bullet and it would fit their tone and vibe.

The cooling for their armour is actually using the tears of virgin unicorns? Yup, that fits.
Their weapons are forged from a single meteorite that fell to earth during the emperors lifetime and which he had spent the millenia enchanting and working on? Sure.
One of them can fight an entire ork waaagh? Okay.

And then they do nothing of note and fail to defend the imperial palace anyways.
>>
>>97390216
>fail to defend the imperial palace anyways.
the innermost sections of the sanctum and dungeon were not punctured into and it could stand to reason that they were largely behind said defensive feat atop whatever else remained of the denial companies of astartes that would end up stationed near to the core of things
i don't think it's really illustrated anywhere in the fiction but said holding actions were probably as crazy as the fighting got amidst the entire heresy and siege

The new year brings new resolutions, inspirations, goals, dreams and half-baked ideas.

>Why should I homebrew?
/tg/ products are fairly unique in that it's actually pretty simple to make them these days, with a plethora of products to assist in making and playtesting your game. Making your own games helps understand why games are made the way they are, as well as being fun to do.

>What you should post
Ideas for games, games you're currently making, updates to your own games in broad strokes, and any homebrewing for existing products that don't get much attention. Discussion about the above is welcome. Post good, be good, and look over others products, they care if someone looks more than anything.

it basically boils down to:
>pay to attack
>the attacker rolls dice equal to its Strength
>the defender rolls dice eqaul to its Strength
>5-6 cancels are successes
>successes cancel other successes
>uncancelled successes turn into damage

most of the time, a player attacks so nothing happens
essentially wasting a turn

Necromancy Edition

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What Trench Crusade is not
TC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

>How do I get started?

Travel log #6 [Las Vegas, Nevada]-[*7/10]
>>>>>Pros
>Vegas has a lively night life with two very distinct cities for the blood that, so long as you're not a Sabbat war party, you could find a nice niche for yourself. Even just visiting has been miles easier than almost any other city with a population
>Even the slightest edge could let a person live relatively comfortable here, and those who know how to carve out a niche could get pretty far, although tower-of-babel levels of ambition can be an issue
>This might be the largest and most friendly assortment for those of us of a certain breed; Ravs, Nos, Malks and Gangs. I saw some old friends I haven't seen in decades, and there is strength in numbers. Usual for nomadic and subterranean folk, just play it smart and you can find safe haven if you need it
>Despite an unusually large hunter presence, they seem more focused on other threats as it is rumoured among hunters Las Vegas was purged a few years ago
>>>>>Cons
>It may not be as bad as some, but this place in the desert is a monument to hubris. One day it's gonna go
>This place is a cauldron for forces beyond mortal ken, judging by my travel companion almost having a stroke and scrawling the kind of shit on the walls I haven't seen since back in Marquette. Full house as well; ancient forces, indigenous ghosts, sins, and the rest
>This is a 'Vampire Free city' and if you start looking too dead or too successful, the locals will just dust you
>Despite the relative peace, this place is three murders or a bad report away from going bad; if it isn't some unmentionable horror doing it the tensions between high society and the common Blood could start something ugly, supposing the Snake worshippers out in the desert don't start something

I can see why Teddy decided to move in. Nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live here. Guess that's why the Ravs have such a big camp on the fringes. Good to see old friends again, and to get into a light amount of trouble.

Thanks to my Ravs, we should be good on money for the rest of this trip.

To anyone looking to move in I have some words of advice.

First off, this place exploded from nothing and I expect one day the desert will take her back just as quickly.

In terms of politics the local Establishment has some very strict rules. Don't win too much (formal leadership says no millions, fringe say take nothing but cash and bonds), no poker, don't feed off members of high society. They take this shit as serious as formal Camarilla doctrine. Don't poke at rival camps. High society stays away from the fringes and the fringes don't agitate high society. Play nice, or don't cause too much trouble and leave as quiet as you came in. Decorum is important, even if it's the informal decorum.

Lastly, while the common fringe clans are friendly, there's a war in the waiting among the ruling Triumvirate. Giovanni, Tremere, and Toreador. At some point, someone is going to try and cut someone else out of the picture, and it will get ugly real quick.

That's for the future though. For once it was nice to drive into a city and have only one Prince and two Barons to do the niceties with. The old Prince was bemused a nomad actually acted with Hospitality. The sisters on the fringes were... Well. Interesting. Mèo-Mèo's clan, so I let her do the talking. Can't say I appreciated one of them thinking I'm Mèo-Mèo's pimp and reminding us prostitution was banned in the county, though her sister had her own 'quirks.'

I suppose that's just the norm for leaders. Otherwise, outside of the nebulous doom(s) looming on the horizon I'll probably visit again.

I had a live call with Cope, my late boyfriend's Malkavian friend and multiple personality disorder self-proclaimed streamer, who cannot put that damn phone down, ever.
I broke the news to her. She had a manic episode, and I'm definitely gonna go to hell for this, but I thought it was funny as fuck. Just kidding, this is already hell. Better than a depressive or psycho episode in my book.
When she got better - making a huge assumption here, implying there's a "better" - we went back to my Dementation training.
She said: "What if I told you we are characters on a screen, and I don't even mean actors in a movie, but letters on a monitor?"
I mean, I've already seen more shit than I shoulda had when I was a mortal. At this point I'm prepared to believe in fairies and demons and Godzilla, bring it on, world of dorkness, come at me.
I can't with this girl, she talked to her "chat" for two hours while her phone's battery was dead.
>>97385697
>said she wanted to transfer Boy Toy's tears into a more solid container, such as a gemstone, a memento she could wear as a pendant
Mercury Lamp sold me on Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) as the material for the tears' container. No way I can spell that shit, so I just copypasted it. The material and process are way cheaper and the thing is still solid while less likely to be stolen from me.

Not once are these m&m SCIFI elements actually referenced. Inferno in Heroes III is never presented in any scifi framing or with scifi tech. As far as I remember from all those years ago.
>>
>>97389718
That is because the HoMM games make very oblique references with it's zoomed out view MMVI, MMVII and MMVIII are much more zoomed in and you see the Scifi elements through the lens of pseudo-medieval people.
