>>97229189Solo. Ive abandoned a few campaigns this year but im planning on re arranging my space to get a decent sized table so hopefully that small bit of comfort helps me keep my campaign going. I bought a copy of 1.6 last year and havent even opened it. No need to upgrade when i dont play right? God damn depression is a bitch.

Am i supposed to add the settlement event cards from bla k knight if im just using hum as a core nemesis? Seems weird having shit like knighting and jousting in the same deck that barely went past the stone age.
>>97246386Each of the bosses is, more or less, a tiny fragment of the demiurge. When they enter the campaign they begin influencing reality around them. The Knight existing in potentia makes everything slightly more Knightly even before he appears.Besides, stone age knights jousting on war-ostriches with bone armor is sick as fuck. Which should already be enough to recommend it.

question for the threadIf'n I wanted to attempt to make a gish style class for homebrewing, would you say that these are what is required? Assume point buy/standard array>d8 hit die>half caster for 5th level spells at most>focus the spell list to transmutation and abj magic, little evoc and few illusion/enchantment>simple weapons prof, one martial weapon prof>light armor prof, subclass to get medium armor>at least one extra attackOptional that I've been thinking>spell casting mod to bonus to hit on melee to ease the MAD (mostly so that pumping casting abilites doesn't force you into a caster and can still run up and do melee)>bonus for making/using items with charges (wands, staffs, melee weapons with spells in them) IE, you use a wand of magic missile, you cast it at 1 level higher than the charge you actually used it at>crib the bladesinger cantrip replacement for attack action
>>97246119imo don't even have them be a proper spellcaster. give them the pertinent spells at appropriate levels, even out-of-band with levelled casters if you deem necessary, but without spell slots. instead, give them [Spell-casting Modifier] uses, recharging 1 use on short rest and all uses on long rest

>>97237113>Anyone who leads a group with a building is unlikely to leave that post. So that rules out abbots, superiors, priests and bishops in most cases. The pope is literally a senior administrative position and mostly concerned with management and both internal and external politics. Same for the bishop. Priests are stuck to their congregation and specialize in preaching more than practice. Monks are stuck to their monastery and serve by living an ascetic life and nuns are women and thus lack agency.Depends on the noble rank of other members of the party. A Bishop wouldn't be that strange a holy man amongst a group (such as Charlemagne's Peers) supporting a King or Emperor. Abbots fit amongst upper nobility such as lesser Kings, Dukes, and Marquess. It would not be unexpected to have a Count or Baron receive council from the brother or sister superior from a convent or monastery in their lands. Knights would likely interact with the parish priesthood. Outside their monasteries frairs, monks and nuns would likely be the clergy interacting with the more common people.
>>97226577>A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
>>97242569Its not really about matching rank in my mind though. Its about who does what job. And bishops are managers. They dont do the work. They oversee people who do the work. Priests do the work, but inherently statically and focussed to a specific place and populace. A friar conversely would be one that does the work in a more freestyle way. They have the agency over their direction, which is an essential part of being an adventurer. If they wouldn't have it, like a priest stuck to a building, their early roleplay would be about forcing them out. A friar is already out and about.Similarly, anyone supporting Charlemagne wouldn't see direct combat. Kings, emperors, abbots, bishops popes... All managerial types. They don't generally do the work. Even Charlemagne himself, a warrior king who led from the front a lot did so less and less as he neared the peak of his power.

Previous thread: >>97111514GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.Optional rules allow you to emulate different genres with a single system, or even switch genres within a single game.A nearly complete archive of GURPS books can be found by using the image. Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.If you're wondering where to start:- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres.- How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players.- GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.Thread question: How often do you use an official GURPS setting? Which are your favorites?
>>97243994Having higher combat skill already gives you more attacks (-6 to hit per extra attack) thanks to Rapid Strike. It should be fair to just extrapolate this rule to all combat maneuvers. For maneuvers that don't require a roll (Aim, Evaluate, Ready, etc.), the GM should ask for a roll using DX, IQ, or an appropriate skill at +6, minus the penalty for multiple maneuvers. If you want actual Shadowrun initiative that gives everyone actual extra turns in combat, then that gets a bit more complicated. In Shadowrun, everyone rolls 1d6 + Reaction + Intuition for Initiative, with a roll of 10+ giving an extra Initiative Pass at your Initiative -10. And rolling 20+ gives a third turn at Initiative -20, rolling 30+ gives a fourth turn at Initiative -30, and so on. The average human has Reaction and Intuition of 3, for an average Initiative roll of 9 or 10.In GURPS, turn order is determined by Basic Speed, which is 5 for the average human. To get Shadowrun Initiative, you might have everyone roll 1d+1 + Basic Speed at the start of combat to determine Initiative/Turn-Order. This gives the same average Initiative as above. Then give everyone an extra turn at Initiative-10 to anyone who rolls 10+, as above.
>>97246141Although, there already exists an advantage that gives extra turns (Altered Time Rate for 100/lvl). To be fair, you would have to add +10/lvl to the cost of Basic Speed, and +2.5/lvl to the cost of DX and HT. It's probably best to not tie extra turns to Basic Speed, but just have players take a skill penalty if they want to do multiple actions, or let them buy Altered Time Rate with a limitation (maybe worth -20%) that the extra turn occurs after everyone else has already taken their turn. Combine this with the Defensive enhancement (worth +20%), and you get a sum total modifier of +0%.
>>97245806Follow up damage already has 3x wounding. For an internal explosion. Also probably not since HE still has 0.5 AD.I've run a number of games with these rules among others. APHEX tends to become the de facto standard ammunition, 2 AD, and 3x wounding is hard to pass up in 80% of cases. What tends to happen is torso, and head hits are largely unchanged (I use the 1 in 6 chance to turn torso hits into vitals even without targeting them, and most people aim for vitals anyway), while limb hits become far more dangerous. HP loss is still capped, but hitting the crippling, and severing thresholds is much more common. Random location rolls being how they are its much more likely to end a fight by blowing the target's limbs off then by knocking them out or killing them. So limb armor becomes more common.Of course this is assuming that everyone has access to small caliber explosive rounds, and high quality body armor. If one side does and the other doesn't, its a lot like if one side has regular guns, and armor and the other doesn't.
I don't want to wait for 2026, I want Revised GURPS now! I need to know what we're naming "s-word mentality".

I refuse to believe Halo Flashpoint is even a 10th as successful as Mantic claims. In terms of online, easy to find metrics it has:3100 people as part of its sub(P)reddit.2100 or so people as part of Facebook Groups. No one discussing it on Twitter gets many likes/comments/retweets.No one big or well known talks about/plays it on Youtube.Yet it's one of the fastest growing and more popular tabletop games to come out recently?I don't buy it.I don't hate the system, but I am baffled by Mantic's ability to get away with lying about how successful this game is.
>>97236626You’re underestimating the GW dominance. It doesn’t take a lot to make the top 10. Its also a perfect game alot of people are buying Flashpoint that are not tabletop gamers or buying it to paint alone or just have the box. Halo collectors are actually quite a big market especially since Star Wars died. Its a phenomenally good game I haven’t touched it since last January but I fucking loved it and if I take a notion to play a minis game i’ll be digging it out. If the retards had dropped a strong Covie box alongside the Spartan edition it would be huge in my area we had real traction on release but we did one tournament in January and despite it being really good it just died largely because the Elite players got smoked. Yes they’re strong in objective games but you needed two sword elites to match the Spartan meta and I for one couldn’t afford two Spartan editions to do that. The Banished box was a huge dud that didn’t sell locally or I suspect very well in general but that no dount that was 343 pressure to push infinite. It’s a great game and i’m looking forward to get back into it when theres Grunts, Jackals and Hunters. Pic related my nail varnish drowned Chief.
>>97238770If GC had dropped before Fleet Battles it would have done gangbusters. Instead it dropped around Halo 5 when Halo fans were dropping the series for other things and then like a year later Spartan Games was gone. Fleet Battles was cool but it was appealing to a tiny demographic.
>>97238770It's very slowly evolving away from multiplayer and into a more general Halo universe skirmish game with the last two releases being Brutes and ODSTs, and apparently they've got Grunts and suchlike in the pipeline as well. I get the impression that they wanted to make a general Halo game from the start, but having it based on the multiplayer made it both an easier sell from the licensing standpoint (direct tie-in with the current video game) and a smaller initial investment for making the game what with all players using the same pool of miniatures.Remains to be seen if they make any dramatic changes away from the multiplayer arena setup in terms of gameplay for future expansions, we'll just have to wait and see.
