So I tend to run high-powered games with lots of homebrew and shenanigans going on in PF1e/D&D3.5e/d20 systems/etc. and I've used plenty of optional rulesets and such and tend to allow copious (some would even say insane) amounts of 3pp and alt content as long as I have a chance to review it first and it seems like it'd fit. Among other things I have used the Mythic rules for some of my games and overall I do find some of the content rather overboard even for my games. I have also granted players customized extras (that occasionally scale) before, once I called them "atavisms".I am trying to design an "add-on" system that's a bit more regular for my games instead of the random campaign specific stuff I've done for people. I'm just not entirely sure what to call this though and I was hoping you lot might have some interesting suggestions (barring making up my own word ofc). Thus far some name ideas include> atavisms> blessings> boons> awakenings (there is a 3pp system for these)> gifts> modifications/mods> templates> splats (WoD reference)> sides (eating lol)Comment too long. I've been considering some terms related to "fate" as well for this concept, haven't really settled on anything yet though. Nothing seems to feel right.
Gimmick.
boon. idk what's wrong with that

Unless there's another meaning I'm unaware of.

>>97412978You are right. I got too stuck with how thematic they were, besides imagining explosive turn with Tekuthal (4 mana for 4 proliferates with engine).Still not convinced on the tutors. Even mystical tutor I could see, but why not enlightened tutor when I am so artifact heavy? What about some of my charge centric artifacts with potent effects? How many of those do I need for coretapper to be worth it? Although at the very least it could feed my counter based mana rocks. Also, wuicksilver dagger helps me with draw and landing player damage with infect creatures. Should I cut more of the toxic creatures (since infect > toxic)? I have a couple of support creatures which I think help a lot, such as unctus and emry, I fear having too low a density of poison sources (and I do know I just need to see and then proliferate away). Funnily enough I used that design and Tedis for a pulpy NS.11 Airship-themed one-shot I did where the players had to go from one to the other. I think I'm a bit of a sucker for coastal forts.

Haven’t played since 3.5. My friends are going to be playing the 2024 books. I used to pull dumb shit like a luchador who was only good at grappling or a diplomancer who was only good at diplomacy and making friends with every bad guy we met. Broken shit, but still silly and flavorful. What should I look for when reading over 5.5? The only idea I have right now is a drunken fist fighting sailor who’s really racist. Like +5 perception, knows you’re a hill ogre from the western hills of Thrograll kinda racist. Which sounds fun, but not broken. Is that even possible these days?
