>>97282252The most widely used and strongest Stormcast units that fit the bill of "at least a 5 man unit" will be Vigilors, Questor Soulsworn, or the Stormcoven. Other strong units are either configuration of Vanguard Raptors, although these are 3 man units IIRC and are quite expensive in real $ per model. However, I think they come with birds to paint if that's worth anything. Annihilators are also 3 man units, although there's two types: Grand hammers (2h) and great shields. The Grand hammers are MUCH better on the table top, but the Great shields were part of the 3e starter box and are MUCH cheaper. Finally, if the only thing you care about is armor plated bodies per real world $, the absolute cheapest thing are the Vindictors from the starter box in 3e. These are as cheap as 15$/5 bodies. However, they're kind of weaker on the tabletop.

After about 8 years since I last DM'ed a game, I've been asked to run a session. Unfortunately my books - adnd, 2e, 3e, 3.5, 4e, and 5e are in storage two states away.And i prefer physical copies. Thanks to critical role and the movie DND books have gone up in price which is weird.>4e books are ~10-15$ now. Is it viable to run 4e in 2025? I don't remember hating it and I still remember some home rules to streamline combat to speed it up a touch. Or at least give everyone one class Utility Power and one Skill Power each time. Also throwing out the skill replacement Powers. Wizards if built somewhat intelligently can replace like 70% of the skill list with Arcana which they then can jack to the moon. I'd replace those with Powers that let you use Int/Cha instead of the usual modifier for one round per encounter. That way it's a lot less cheesey and makes Wizards and Warlocks a lot less "I just roll Arcana/Bluff every round of a Skill Challenge but call it 4 different skills".

Alright, Tyrant Lvl3 is dead (after a very scary early harvester incantation draw...) and we have our 4th people of the star and our 2nd and 3rd frozen heart. I think we're going to work on polishing their gear grids now, we've got 2 calcified shoulder pads cooking that'll pop right before the level 3 nemesis at 23, going to see if we can get 2 beast knuckles and a set of Lantern armor and dragon slayer for our katar and grand weapon user respectively. Ultimately, we're hoping to finish this campaign this weekend before we have to get to work, so we honestly might say it's a wipe to the king man at 23 to save time since we still don't have pottery (thank God barber burgeoning locked behind that anymore)
