Kingdom Death is a tabletop miniature brand stared by Adam Poots and operated by himself and his Team that later spun off into a miniature based bored game funded by two very successful Kickstarter campaigns.

▶What is Kingdom Death: Monster?
Monster is a Nightmare Horror cooperative boss battler/miniature hobby game for 1-4 players about hope in a strange world of bizarre monstrosities and perpetually darkness. Players take on the role of survivors that band together to form a settlement, fighting monsters, crafting weapons and gear, and developing their civilization to ensure survival from generation to generation.

Prologue Narration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNLc8dHv0Ac

The Game is broken up into 3 phases:
1. During your Hunt Phase your band of survivors traverse the world of KD in pursuit of their quarry.
2. After successfully tracking your quarry you will begin the Showdown Phase, where you must fell these horrific creatures in order to acquire precious resources.

So, does everyone else just replace the choreia innovation requirement in green knight armor with petal spiral? It just makes way more sense and doesn't require shoving in spidicules for no reason, and thus I can fit in dragon king as my node 3 instead and have my knight slay a proper dragon (DK level 3).

Oh boy, a pair of slendermans on ebay, one for purchase for $250 and one on auction at a much lower price at the same time! I'm sure this isn't a trick and they won't spike the price of the auction to $200+ within the last few hours like the last 3 times I've tried to get slendy on ebay.

They aren't "special" but the elves are cautious of them because they appeared on the continent as primitive semi-nomadic tribals and quickly built up multiple human civilisations to rival them in only 2000 years. Mainly as a result of being used as mercenaries by various warring elven nations due to their perceived expendability and stronger physical strength.

>Why should I homebrew?
/tg/ products are fairly unique in that it's actually pretty simple to make them these days, with a plethora of products to assist in making and playtesting your game. Making your own games helps understand why games are made the way they are, as well as being fun to do.

>What you should post
Ideas for games, games you're currently making, updates to your own games in broad strokes, and any homebrewing for existing products that don't get much attention. Discussion about the above is welcome. Post good, be good, and look over others products, they care if someone looks more than anything.

Hey guys the system I'm running does not give any kind of hit bonus or anything for stealth, and I'm not sure that that omission is a rule in itself because it's incredibly sparsely written to the point of being unclear in many different places, not just here. The system is called Five Torches Deep. anyflip dot com slash oynzm slash goyb
I'm now stuck somewhere between nothing, the OSR sources where attacking from stealth gives +4 to hit, or 5e where attacking from stealth gives advantage. What do I do? What works?
>>
>>97381978
I'm not sure what "attacking from stealth" is even supposed to be. In my common sense, wouldn't this be an ambush? Meaning that players might either resolve it without entering the combat subsystem at all, or enter with a full free turn where the enemy can't react, or something like that. Is this supposed to be some kind of "pass a skill check, then move and attack for some bonus" kind of deal? If so, it needs to be at least stronger than just attacking for both actions at bare minimum. I personally dislike this second scenario for various reasons, so I'd advise doing some serious spitballing with a friend or a stuffed animal where you just speak out loud and try to explain what you want and why. Usually this lets you come to some kind of conclusion or realization.
>>
>>97381978
i would personally avoid using advantage/disadvantage. it's very coded in 5e vernacular
>>
>>97381978
Just give the +4 anon. Mathematically it is very close to advantage but flat bonus feel better and are simpler/faster.
Also avoid bringing 5e-isms to your games if possible, even if they are nsr and tangentially inspired by 5e.
It just sets a bad precedent.

I'm mostly confused about the way the combat round is ordered and what characters can and can't do. It seems like each character in combat is supposed to make different contest rolls at different stages, but the rules don't specify how many rolls a character can/should make per round. It also gets fucky when you have to deal with multiple opponents. Assume you're in a melee combat with multiple opponents and are being shot at by ranged attackers:
>characters already in melee go first.
You roll your relevant melee dice pool and split your successes among your opponents. Right off the bat is the issue of ordering. You'd like to know how many successes each opponent got so you can allocate your dice accordingly, but since combat is supposed to be simultaneous it doesn't make sense for the opponents to have already rolled before you. Is the Storyteller supposed to roll the enemy attacks first, or is the player supposed to guess how they should divide their successes?
>Next, ranged attacks go off
Now, you've already rolled your melee pool. Can you now also make a Dodge roll to contest any ranged attackers, or was that something you were supposed to decide at the beginning of the round? The rules don't explicitly define what all a character can do in a given round, so there's no answer to this question.
>Lastly, characters entering melee this round act
So let's say another enemy enters and attacks you with a melee weapon. Do you then make another Melee or Dodge roll to contest them, or are you supposed to use the remaining successes from your first Melee/Dodge roll (assuming you still remember the result)?
The game has literally nothing to clearly define how much characters can do on their turn. No movement rules. The combat in this game barely works, with the authors leaving a lot up to Storyteller fiat which ironically makes the game much more complicated and confusing than if they just wrote a solid ruleset.
>>
>>97384510
Can always steal shit from other games about initiative order and what actuals players can do and can't. There's a combat supplement iirc that gives you a better defined combat ruleset.

I'd argue Werewolf is more beginner friendly particularly for the GM because it's the game where combat is expected fairly regularly and it feels good popping off Gifts. The system still has solid roleplaying mechanics too even with the focus on ripping and tearing.

Vampire at its best is much more social and the combat is basically always clunky unless you're mowing down mooks at a higher level. Also it's much closer to what people will think of when it comes to "you're playing a Vampire". Werewolf is a game where you're kind of an eco-terrorist and a ton of the lore and abilities even at a basic level will leave newbies to WoD asking "What does this have to do with being a Werewolf?"

I love both games. WoD is wonderful and gonzo in a way that you can't really recapture anymore (I'm blanking on any nu-lore that doesn't suck). Avoid the newest editions, go with the 20th Anniversary.
>>
>>97384625
You sort of have to know a lot of lore to even make a Werewolf PC don't you?
>>
>>97384754
I guess. Breed is if you want to be a human-born, wolf-born, or the literally twisted sterile spawn of two werewolves Metis. Only the latter requires a bit more information on what the hell is going on.
Tribe: although breaking or subverting the stereotypes of the tribes can go in a million directions, you really can sum them up in a couple sentences each to go from there. Tribe is as much a class as it is your race since so many Gifts are tied to them.
Auspice: the only lore you'd need on character creation here would be that it's the phase of the moon you're most attuned to and first shapeshifted under, and it determines your overall role as a Garou (the other term for Werewolf that players should get use to). Basically your class.

it's very clunky in some places, but it has something very positive for what you want.
The "metaphysics" of the game is that things work how people think they work. That is, the majority belief holds true and this can vary from region to region (someone who has learned a magical practise in one region can carry it to another and use it there, but the reigning metaphysics will change). That means you can have characters from one region turn up in another and go "wow this place is strange, even the magic is weird, why are there so few djinni here? why are their mages so strange?" and have mechanical backing to that. Since world travel is difficult and slow, it's not a setting and era where people can easily compare notes and do that "unified theory of magic" thing that happens in some modern D&D games.
