>>97822436Lemurian chart could be fun. Something like Fatebound-Fateless and Spiritual-Profane.
>>97821722I think we could stand to swap some spots around. My own personal interpretation of the axes:>Progress/TraditionProgress represents the attempt to make use of the madness. To innovate and iterate upon it.Tradition represents immersion in the madness. To embrace it and become one with it.>Absolutism/WingdingsAbsolutism represents both a baseline level of intelligibility to mundane humans and a desire to control the madness. To wield it, rather than be consumed.Wingdings represents both a deviance from baseline humanity and anything it would understand as well as submission before the madness.>>97822835I propose Fatebound/Defiant.
>>97825786I figured that the Hyperborean chart was factional rather than philisophical.
>>97822835Pious-Profane and Prophecy-Cultivation? They're all Fated. Prophesy and Cultivation are intertwined, at least to my mind, but most units obviously focus on one or the other. Above-Below would make sense as an axis for them, instead of Pious-Profane, as some units obviously have more to do with higher layers than others.
>>97821722Just out of curiosity, what do the wingdings say?

Looking into Castles and Crusades (with various rules tweaks) and considering other options for spending XP.Are there any decent rules for skill training or similar in an OSR that you like?
>>97824885Thats a wrong retarded definition with no grounds in reality. This entire thread is a bad fakth cintainment thread designed to try and shift trolling into while /osrg/ remains hijacked.
I always hear about the stir this caused, and recently about how bad or redeemable it is. I'm not certain about it myself because I dabbled with 3e and then got into 5e, never paid much attention to the scene during that entire era. What does /tg/ think of the system?
>>97825183>the character builder doesn't exist anymoreI am pretty sure it's still somewhere around
>>97826146Maybe some version of it got saved to some discord or something but the official WOTC tool I had all my characters on is gone
>>97825846>What is lacking in PHB1, DMG1, the Rules Compendium, or any setting specific other book that would be necessary for a DM to provide for interesting roleplay or exciting encounter building, if not both?Information on wilderness travel and encounters. 4th edition recommends treating it as an extended skill challenge, which is a boring railroad design. The traditional setting of the Forgotten Realms has a lot of rich history and lore, and 4e doesn't do jack and shit with it. It actually is credited for ruining various settings during its era.
>>97826242So you actually do not intend to address the real meat of my question, which is how does any of that improve 4e in its function and to its strengths? Is there a specific reason to detail the exact percentage of trees and of what type to forests in the game? Or the number and depth of hills within the area between flatland and mountain ranges? If you want setting specific details, those are covered within the setting books, and DMs can use such description to carry the idea for what PCs will need to prepare for navigating the wild item and/or skill wise. If you're looking for general terrain issues and hazards that might make the navigation itself dangerous, those too are covered within much of the DM's content side of things. If all you seek is the pedantry of charts and boilerplate information as though any of that actually makes roleplay, exploration or combat more interesting on its own merits, then yes, 4e failed you. Though I'd argue that was to great success, as all that information is ultimately useless for a game that treats itself as a game.As for the settings, beginner level DMs for the game probably don't care about established lore so long as they can make use of the setting to run a fun adventure for their tables. Experienced DMs don't need established settings or lore to make compelling adventurers, so it's not likely they would care either. This is just a problem for fans of the novels/games at best, and lore pedantry at worst.
>>97826157Oh yeah, that was closed.
I like this modelThis looks cool
>>97803652the design is made by a fan of 40k instead of a fan of sci fi and history
>>97825698This honestly seems like a problem to me because most of the good 40k stuff was designed by people who were fans of sci-fi and history and wanted to make a 40k equivalent of said things.
>>97820341>We can do this forever.I'll grant you this looks more like the fattened greebled M3 up there than say anything else in the ranges but that's just an argument that it /could/ fit in an Elysian force.genuinely like to see you post more so i can learn how retarded you are>just admitWhat if i hate it because it looks like a taurox, ever think about that?
>>97803652Old Guard stuff is great because the real-world inspiration is immediately obvious but at the same time it's also radically different from the thing it's based on and there's an extra layer of original design language on top that blends all of these elements from radically different time periods and design philosophies into one cohesive whole. The people who designed the Leman Russ and Chimera and later the veritable cornucopia of heavy metal that was golden age Forge World had an incredible depth of knowledge and passion about that kind of material that the modern 40k design team just doesn't have any more.
>>97820355>, with chunkier toddler-toy proportions.it'll fit right in beside the leman russ i suppose

And I finally bought lutherans cus the plan is to build my own cavalry force with two disciples, one patriarch, one Corsair, and one fusilier as the riders using rough rider or knockoff horses with gas masks. The missing cavalry is the only reason I always thought lutherans sucked.

>>97822296>tqShin Megami Tensei. I think it's fairly doable already, any "near future" ruleset you could homebrew a monster summoning mechanic into would do it. But it would be cool to have models for stuff like demonica suits (slightly redesigned, because the original ones do look pretty stupid) and the classic SMT demons.
Where do I even put this on the alignmen chart? There's collectivist angle allowing "all people" to pursue their dreams, which is pretty Lawful. But also dependence on slave labor (drugged out of their mind to stay content and compliant), which seems pretty Evil.Or is ensuring the working class doesn't suffer kind enough to shift towards Neutral?Assuming high fantasy, not mudcore where the peasants make over 90% of the population.

>>97818470Yeah, I don't follow here.
>>978184703rd edition Codexes are basically compatible with 4th edition rules. 4th edition rules are generally seen as an improvement over 3rd, or at least cleaned up and clarified. mid-to-late 4th editon codexes have less options and customization so many prefer the 3rd ed ones and its not a big deal. Not sure what other cases there would be.
>>97820675Ah, if we're talking about that then there's a couple other examples:>3rd ed fantasy is mostly compatible with Rogue Trader, particularly via the Realm of Chaos and Siege books.>4th ed fantasy is compatible with 5th ed, though it might be necessary to convert some magic and wargear, particularly if backporting (Cards from both editions are also compatible with Warhammer Renaissance, for the three people that play it)>6th ed fantasy army books are mostly compatible with 7th edition, again, with some minor jank Generally speaking, most editions are somewhat compatible with army books from the previous edition, often needing some sort of errata, as this allowed you to play you army while waiting for the new codex to drop.Of course, 3rd edition and prior don't really have this feature as individual army books weren't a thing back then.Ps. Everyone was playing mono red at that time. I played a lot of mono red against my other decks. After several wins, I practically didn't match up against mono red against my counter deck. I got a vast majority of mono black and Overlords that I was bad against. It's as if they actively push certain decks with their matchup engine.
