Previous thread: >>97295718GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.Optional rules allow you to emulate different genres with a single system, or even switch genres within a single game.A nearly complete archive of GURPS books can be found by using the image. Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.If you're wondering where to start:- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres.- How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players.- GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.Thread question: what's the best classic GURPS cover art?
90% of unofficial GURPS content now seems to just be one extremely autistic guy who is trying to stat the entire past from the carboniferous to the cold war.Why aren't there more people like that? You can't convince me that the GURPS fanbase is lacking the necessary level of autism. There should be dozens of obsessive-compulsive loons writing up every steam locomotive, or species of butterfly, or something.

Should an elven wizard be more powerful on average than a human one? Explain your answer.
In my setting, Elves age at the same rate as the other races, while still being immortal, they just all fuck off to other places in search of power and glory once they hit a certain age. If can Elf can engage in interdimensional travel, they WILL fuck off to go do realpolitik in one of the various Elven Strongholds across the Multiverse. The only Elves in the Mortal Plane are the very young, and a few odd Exiles that are sent to live in the Mortal Plane as punishment, serving Penitence for this or that reason by taking charge of the Stewardship and Education of young Elves.Rather than being cautious, in order to protect their long lives, Elves in my setting are foolhardy, because they have an almost infinite amount of time to rest and heal from there wounds. If an Elf Swordsman loses a limb, he mostly suffers a loss of face and social standing; he can just take a few decades to study magic until he regenerate that limb, and than go back to practice his Swordsmanship. And basically every Elf has mastered some form of skilled trade, so they can earn a living while healing from dangerous work. For this reason, most other Races and Cultures hate Elves, but actually stamping them out would be difficult, because at any one time, there are like a half-dozen Elf Wizards hanging around that will just Black Hole any army that tries to engage in any meaningful Elf genocide.
>>97364609Would they even be fair to be playable at that point?
I'm a white male human farmer and I think elf maidens smell good, honestly the men smell good too
>>97366466I doubt you've somehow ever smelled an elf maiden in your life
>>97365291>because at any one time, there are like a half-dozen Elf Wizards hanging around that will just Black Hole any army that tries to engage in any meaningful Elf genocide.I guess that answers OP question
Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere. Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency. If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. GW would basic bitch out, turn guilliman to chaos because he learned what his dad meant when he made them during his meeting at the Golden throne after his resurrection. And because of general burnout having been put in stasis during the heresy, then waking up and seeing the imperium is still embroiled in never ending war thanks to the corrupt lords of terra.GW then makes titus chapter master/high lord of ultramar or whatever to take his place after they kill of calgar. Magnus is redeemed because he literally did nothing wrong when trying to psychically warn his dad about the traitors.

>>97365865>>97366799i would say use obscuring/covering terrain to your advantage, otherwise if you feel like your opponent has a bit of bloodlust you can use that to your advantage by leading your cav and certain units fairly far away on the board so you have more breathing room to get objectivesin most cases if the enemy is focusing fire and charging your missiles and cav, then that means your hero units (which are the backbone of CoS armies) have more wiggle room to do things as well
I figured the Realmgate/Soul Wars plus the Necroquake were foundational lore and not edition narratives, that’s pretty neat. I’m surprised they haven’t kept the books in print about them.

Game and board state progress.Bad game design interaction:One player stops the game from happening. >>97332225>Infinity is way too complex and niche. Soicast also made all the details on their minis soft. They did well in N4 to remove spanglish and nested rules, but rebloated in N5. Lore is actually bad, it's very boring, bland and generic. I remember when Toni Macayana died, everyone just asked when they'll rerelease the tikbalang. No one cares at all. They made the biggest mistake of trying to become more mainstream. Infinity used to have anime aesthetics, hot female minis, and more grounded designs. They used to set the trends that even GW tried following, and made miniatures so incredible it crashed their own website. Now it's all capeshit, safe bland designs, NA2, and some of the most retarded looking minis like the new MAF, SP and CA. They're now constantly chasing trends, every army plays like herohammer, and they're constantly fighting SKU bloat by discontinuing armies while introducing new ones. All for the 'mainstream' audience that will never give them the light of day especially with 40k dominating that audience and the fact that they do not have good PR no matter how many influencers they pay.
>>97354640They proved to be incompetent by not retaining people during/after the covid lockdowns. Most of those new customers didn't stay very long after the lockdowns lifted, and realized the model kits were extremely expensive. However, you're not wrong about their IP having reach, because even if they're not buying kits, they're buying games and eventually other media (when/if the amazon slop comes out?). GW still makes a ton of money from licensing and potentially bringing in more people into their product ecosystem regardless of how long they stay. Battletech does have games, but I dont know how popular they are. Corvus Belli is trying to get their trash aristeia game into vidya, and they supposedly have a movie being made.
>>97330812There are options at the large army scale, but all the games that ask you to bring more than 20-30 models are mostly model agnostic rulesets that are being sold. Outside of historical minis, most of what comes to mind is fantasy rank and spanks that exist fill in for Warhammer Fantasy being dead for a decade: Mantic Kings of War and Oathmark.
