After about 8 years since I last DM'ed a game, I've been asked to run a session. Unfortunately my books - adnd, 2e, 3e, 3.5, 4e, and 5e are in storage two states away.And i prefer physical copies. Thanks to critical role and the movie DND books have gone up in price which is weird.>4e books are ~10-15$ now. Is it viable to run 4e in 2025? >>97247377Parroting a lot of others here, it's going to be a little weaker, mostly cause the Bard list has a large amount of control stuff- which means saving throws- which means you need to have a good Charisma score to make that work. Wizards, on the other hand, have a sizable amount of defensive non-stat-based magic (Find Familiar, Shield, Mirror Image, Absorb Elements, Silvery Barbs) that's generally easier to use with lower INT. I would ask if you could re-class and play a Valor or Swords Bard. Or maybe consider multiclassing into Bard from here onwards. From experience, I played a Swords Bard/Battle Master Fighter multiclass who fit the 'Grinning Knight' or 'Smiling Sword Saint' concept, and it worked very well.

To preface, I'm an MTG veteran. My first Precon was Coven Counters in 2021 and I've been an EDH player ever since.After years of playing, I think the WUBRG elemental may just do me in. Gimmick synergy, tribal, a real throw in anything somewhat related type of commander potential. It also has the most forced WUBRG ability to date: being able to pay WUBRG in order to keep an Elemental you Evoked is utter bullshit.
