I think you should define a path or creek running through the middle of the larger base, that little channel in the middle looks perfect for something like that. Is it even worth trying something like Roll20 online (with mic), or is online play kind of cumbersome? I'm a recluse and struggle socially, so I can only fathom comfortably roleplaying online. I've never played in-person, but it's just not in my comfort zone.
>>97391784>Ice Slick>SnowshoesI really like that combination. It's weaker than grease since it doesn't have a DC that scales like a normal spell, instead it uses the rules for slippery surfaces and uneven footing (Balance check vs Reflex save), IIRC, which can be better or worse depending on what you are fighting, but it's still pretty damn good.I think it also enables stuff like HIbernal Healing, which is pretty great, specially for a Druid.
>>97393752I play online using Roll 20 for the map, Gsheet for the character sheet, and Discord for rolling, using custom commands (made a Crusader macro), voice chat, and recording information on different channels.I only know one guy from this group IRL too. Some of the players have their character sheets inside roll 20, so they just click a spell and the attack rolls and damage rolls are all made automatically.I dislike that because it takes away some of the flexibility from hand rolling my own sharacter sheet in gsheet but it works pretty well otherwise, a lot of stuff is pre calculated as you fill it out.So yeah, it can get a little slot at the begining but after the first session it's not cumbersome at all in my opinion.

>>97391037I'll have to give it some thought honestly. I don't think he'd want that in-character, but OOC the precedent (in oWoD at least) could make for a very dark end to the character. I could see the Abbey rituallistically carving this Werewolf apart piece by piece while she's alive, taking back her power to avenge their slain members. I know that on death, Uratha turn back into human form and all their werewolf-remains vanish. But I wonder if she was still alive and kept prisoner, could her claws and fangs be used? Her pelt still worn as cladding etc? Pic related would make for a very novel weapon for the Abbey to harvest (if they can just keep the damn werewolf contained). I can picture this ritualised event where the Abbey treat Duncan as a proxy for his father, splashing him with werewolf blood and layering the pelt on him as an honorific. I'll have to give it some thought, I don't want this idea to just come out of nowhere. If I do decide to go with the accidental Werewolf (Skindancers need 5 pelts or something but whatever), it'd need foreshadowing and buildup, not just a random bad-end.

It all boils down to "God/Gaia/the writers made the World of Darkness a flawed and terrible place as a punishment, as a joke, because they're flawed and terrible themselves or because it would be a pretty boring game otherwise."
It's pic related. Peter Jackson tried to copy Blix's swag for a good reason
>>97391917This is the original

Dragon's Dogma had a nice interpretation of them, clearly visually inspired by LotR films.>>97328676>>97372937WoD's portrayal of the old Orcs was fun, but also demonstrates one of the problems with changing Orcs from a classic monster race to one that's capable of making moral choices. Cause if you do that an then try to keep all the fun barbarian raider orc tropes, you end up with something far far more problematic than just sticking to the classic always evil monsters. So yeah, kind of fun, but Orcs have been a mess since, I dunno, TBC.

They are biologically perpetual (not the only ones who are) while also being aggressive and risk-tolerant. While they're not meant to be orc-esque or savage in how they conduct themselves with these traits, it does mean that they tend to get killed by circumstance before they benefit from that lifespan. That being said, the ones that do choose the path of a violent life and make it over a century or more in age are some of the most fearsome opponents on the planet, but at the same time the average lifespan for even the normal ones is about 150.

>>97393370You're underestimating Creation. You completely disregarded the numbers I pulled for Kirighast (Houses of the Bullgod pg16&19) and Whitewall (Bastions of the North pg12) and the numbers you are pulling out are entirely out of your ass rather than being based on anything you found by looking in the goddamn books. What you're describing is roughly the population of the Haslanti League. Maybe if Halta was some podunk nothingburger tree-nation of anarcho-primitivists with a couple of cities and zero towns or connecting infrastructure you'd be right, but it's not, so you're not. Even your precious Scavenger Sons tells us it's a marvel of the world with many cities and towns, excellent engineering, and a sophisticated social structure that simply would not be possible if it were as tiny as you say seems right in your head. What you want doesn't fit the setting.
>>97393523What I want definitely fits the setting. Whitewall's one of the major powers of the North and one of the great cities of Creation - it being bigger than Chanta, but not bigger than Halta as a whole, doesn't seem like a problem on any level. Neither does Halta having population comparable to the Haslanti League. In fact, Halta and the Haslanti having comparable numbers seems just about right to me. Both are big deals in their parts of the world but not Direction-wide, and both are advanced civilizations thriving in conditions where one generally wouldn't expect civilization to thrive. Them being roughly equally populous and powerful is fine. As for Kirighast, I didn't address it because I didn't feel like complaining about another nation's numbers. I'll just say that Halta's not the only instance of WW writers showing poor sense of scale and absolutely no consideration for the fact that Creation's not the 21st century world. East generally has pretty sensible population numbers, though, with Great Forks being a big deal with its three quarters of a million inhabitants and so on. Linowan, too, are perfectly sensible, with population of Rubylak being counted in tens of thousands rather than hundreds of thousands. Halta in 1E and 2E is grossly out of scale with its surroundings, and what I'm suggesting would make it a better fit, not a worse one, for the rest of the East.
>>97393576>Both are big deals in their parts of the world but not Direction-wide>The Haslanti League and Halta
>>97393584Yes, anon. Haslanti's fuckhuge area-wise and respectable population-wise, it's got major cities, it's technologically advanced, it might not matter that much to be a big deal in that part of the world because Far North doesn't have that much going on, but it's still a big deal. Haslanti are also more active and therefore more have more of an impact outside their own borders than the Haltan are.

It's not that mean imo, st least it doesn't feel that way to me, maybe because of the theme. The domination calculation is simple math, no problems. It's longer since it's also best with more players but it doesn't feel long.>What game did you expect to love, but endet up hating it?Ark nova - animals, lot's of cards, heavy, everyone in the group loved it. It's not that interesting, slow cycling through the cards. Even more solo than TfM but with no engine building fun. Spirit island - everyone loved it, heavy coop with asymetry. Maybe because it's coop but it's very boring. Like pandemic, enemy spreads and you play a couple of cards to contain them. The cards are also not that exciting.

>>97393261>>97393597I don't mind it all that much, but it depends on what kind of downtime. This all opens a very interesting topic relevant to disagreements in game evaluation, "How do you approach [game]?". Like in the example, if you play Agricola Gaia Project just from your gut, you'll have a bad time. Similarly, if you overanalyze and try to strategize Diamant or Resistance, you'll have a tedious and frustrating game. That is not exclusive to weight, I'd argue Ra gets worse when you math out probabilities and Chinatown sucks if you go deeper than only roughly crunching the numbers before taking a deal. And it's hard to approach a game you've tried and found shit once again from a different angle. Time is too precious for most of us.Very interesting topic
