>>97260087"Ships in a bigger ship's hanger" is basically going to behave the same as "ship docking at a harbor" map, which I've played on before. Which is fine and would be cool to play on if someone modeled it, but it's a far cry from the corridor-fest of >>97260012
>>97260012As stated, it's not really open enough for general use. You could dedicate a part of the map for bulkhead/base and have them littered with corridors tho

Magic should be rare, mysterious, superstitious. It should take time to use and be exhausting to cast When did fantasy magic and wizards turn in Avatar the Last Airbender shooting fire and lightning out their assholes?
>>97253568Lul silly duck xd
>>97241961Actually go fuck yourself.
I think no one but practitioners should know exactly HOW magic works (and I mean the specific effect desired by the magic-user) and no one should know WHY ir works (but different traditions and cultures should have their own beliefs and explanations). This should be enough for the players and GM to inform the roleplay. As a game resource, spells should be rare enough to be special but available enough to be considered useful.Another aspect I very much enjoy is increased randomization of effects. Should a character choose to relinquish control of the effect (or forced to do by circunstance), shenanigans ensue, which is always entertaining.
>>97263541ok
>>97217677I agree with you, but let me add one thing: Magic is so much better, when you can never fully control it. When it’s something wild and dangerous, that you can bend to a certain degree, but only that. Compare the John Doe magician:>oh, we need a fire>I cast small fireball>oh no a wolf comes>I cast small lightingIf you do it like this, magic becomes a tool. Basically you could totally play this with some “technical tinker guy and his weird apparatus”.Now compare it to this:>you are outnumbered and surrounded by ghoulsComment too long. >>97264012>the Empire not using it by making IN top brass a bunch of idiots obsessed with having the biggest penis-extension ships they could get and looking down on smaller, more practical, but less intimidating designs.Kinda like how soviets went all-out for big ships they couldn't afford just to have some Big Ship Energy to swing around.and how a certain western nation is sleepwalking into a navy crisis by designing reformer "battleships" instead of investing in frigates
>>97263949>the Empire was too fucking retarded to know how to do anything that wasn't TIE spamNovels, comics and games from the 90s shows pretty much exactly that.Of course. They had to, how else do you explain the absence of al the cool ships from 90s X-wing games, WEG D6 splatbooks, etc.during the battle of Endor? They showed the Empire running 9001 superweapon projects, super fighter programmes, Dark Troopers, you fucking name it. It all fails due to mustache-twirling evil overlord tier bullshit, because that is just game and comic book logic from the 90s.Just calm the fuck down. You don't like ECHenry? Cool, ignore him, he just does fan designs and reimaginings of shit that was in a half-second background shot almost 50 years ago. Some of it is cool, some isn't. use what you like, ignore what you do not like.Pic vaguely related, I don't think it ever appears in the movies but it's still part of the GCW era.
>>97264053That's Fractalsponge's remake of the DX-9 transport from the TIE Fighter gameI like Henry a lot as a modeller. His ships are the best fan designs I've seen so far. I just think he sucks ass at his own storytelling but I do use his ships and vehicles for roleplaying and worldbuilding.

>>97259608Pretty happy with these. Different materials, multiple kits, small details everywhere. They are more for Mordheim than WHF, but I'm still working on a TK obelisk for that.
You should ALWAYS cheese every encounter. If you EVER end up in a situation that even remotely resembles a fair fight, just run away and wait until you can rig the situation to your favor. Use your fucking brain. Even if it is highly improbable for you to lose a given fight, statistically speaking, you'll still eventually croak if you keep taking those bets. Don't leave it up to chance. It's easier than you might think, you just need to use your noggin. It's not a video game. You can do whatever the fuck you want.Just the other night my party ran into a melee monster in a narrow ass room that they for some reason decided to ram their dicks into until someone died. When I suggested that we retreat for a bit and lure it into the room with the big ass statues so we can all just climb them and shoot it to death, they looked at me like I just escaped from the looney bin. They all died of course.
>>97262216Considering 4chan killed trackable ips, I can understand if you don't believe this post if I claim that isn't me. Cause I can only speak to the fact that I've legitimately never seen a single person just run straight into the enemy whatever that troll is claiming. Frankly, in my experience with D&D and Pathfinder, everyone outright starts the fight going through every single possible ranged option or movement that lets them get around the foe. Like, the curling metaphor is apt, player characters get so antsy about approaching enemies in a head to head format that they'd rather hide behind terrain and snipe if possible before even thinking of sending in the fighters or barbarians, aka the guys whose jobs in D&D are to tank hits for the squishy guys. And even then, fighters and barbarians keep looking for whatever options lets them stab guys at a distance without being stabbed back. That's why I find the claim that people treat tabletop games like mmos hilarious, cause combat in those games resembles a square dance more than a fight.
>>97262228It's kind of sad to agree with yourself
>>97250948That will never work. Not because it wouldn't make sense, but because you're trying to bring sensible approach to the land of the mad. There either never was a real challenge and GM's already fudging rolls and adjusting monster HP to make sure the party prevails or the GM wants you to have a fair challenge and any attempts to cheese what was envisioned as such will get you punished for daring to challenge that vision and trying to outsmart your better. Just turn off your critical thinking and play along.Or cheese aroud that whole pointless treadmill of numbers and doing voices and rolling the dice by realizing that the only truly sensible move is not to play.
>>97250948
>in realityIn reality, if you spend all of session time running away while the rest of the group actually plays the game, you'll be asked to stop or to leave.Unless you're hosting the thing at your home, in which case the others will put up with you not participating and pretending you're clever for the sake of convenience.

>>97263588>>97263605It's more that military hardware in WoD is no joke. Either the were-thing will bounce uselessly off of the tank, or the were-thing will be so absurdly strong that it will take a plot device to kill it and prevent it from mincing the players and everything else before they can even get near the tank.Though you can always come up with your own stats for the tank, so it's got less soak and less armaments.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency. If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. >>97262921I hope I don't come across as disagreeing. I'm just adding my thoughts that guns as they are IRL would take a lot away from the setting, but guns as they are in fantasy and westerns would be pretty okay by me. It's a hard thing to define.Revolvers? Okay.Machine Gun/Tommy Gun? Nope.Laser Gun? Sure, for Alchemicals.Gatling Gun? Nope.Mortars? Nope.Missiles? Nope.Long range laser canons? Sure.Sniper Rifle? Nope.Firestick that shoots super far? Sure, with charms.I don't know, I sure as heck wouldn't think of Creation as being bronze age. I'm not even sure what that means in the context of a fantasy setting with magic that's so prevalent.
>>97262998>I don't know, I sure as heck wouldn't think of Creation as being bronze age. Most of civilized Creation isn't in the Bronze age technologically. Sure there's probably some places where civilization collapsed, but most of the societies we see have probably pulled themselves into the Iron Age with weird gonzo leaps in strange places. Bronze Age is more of an aesthetic painted on.And for missiles, they had Thousand Forged Dragons for a rough equivalent.
>>97261300>>97261339I've done it. I just have the wyld hunt kinda suck at their job and the mortals and small gods prefer and help you. It's that shrimple.
>>97263666Why would the Immaculate, Dragons-respecting mortals of the Realm prefer and help a bunch of literal Satans over their righteous, divinely appointed lords?
>>97264024Because you're cooler? The realm has a ton of irresponsible, indolent assholes that take advantage of their subjects and that's before we start considering the superpowered assholes. Simply not being those guys will go a long way to ingratiate yourself with the masses. I also tend to run my games where most people don't actually have the faith, it's just something that they grow up with.

>>97259539Wing of Glory is pretty simplified and you need specific sets of cards for each aircraft. Expensive and limited options with aircraft. It is a "programming" game, where each player plays 3 cards with movement arrows on them, then players reveal 1 card at a time simultaneously, and their aircraft makes the move.Blood Red Skies is also quite simplified, there is no altitude or speed, aircraft are either 'advantaged' 'disadvantaged' or 'neutral', and the flight stand tilts the aircraft forward or backward to represent this.If you want something that actually has altitude and speed taken into account, and has pretty much every WW2 aircraft (including bombers, ground attack, night fighters) - Lacquered Coffins might be the way to go. It tracks speed and altitude with 2 dice on the base of an aircraft, and is dead simple to play, no custom cards or flight stands required. Also how that fuck are people posting with these new Captcha's....
>>97262898>new captcha I love the new captcha and have been able to solve them 10x faster than any of the previous version for the last decade. I find it hilarious when I see people complaining about them, because they are just very simple patterns and puzzles. Admitting you find them hard is outting yourself for having a low IQ. IQ of course being traditionally tested by measuring your ability to solve shape puzzles and patterns
>>97263004Did you notice that he was able to solve the captcha to post?Did you notice the quality of his contribution compared to yours?
>>97261797Doesn't look too bad, pretty nice camo for your first minis. Remember the camera sees a lot more than anyone would in real life.I wouldn't bother with the individual fingers like you did on the 2nd guy, looks kinda weird, just make it all skintone. You can do a highlight on the knuckles if you really want to. The 2nd guy's gun could do with a bit more brown maybe, it blends in with the uniform a lot.Don't forget to paint the figure bases. You got some splotches on there which is normal. Put a thin coat of some dark colour, green or grey, over to cover this and tie the squad together.
>>97261797I agree with the other anon, not too shabby for your first miniatures at all! You could also consider a quick wash with a brown tone over the top, this can really bring more definition to a mini quickly.>>97262713Might not be what you're after, but I made this set earlier this year: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/17th-century-soldiers .
