But only for the background. Because there is noy a basic street in the front.
>>

Its not really undercooked so much as the setting lends itself to things like Stalker, Metro, Mad Max etc. Even a Fallout game without a retarded amount of cards and tokens. Zona Alfa is a great game in it's own right.

What's the deal with Kontraband? And do you find the system works better with coop, as introduced by Kontraband?
I love stalker but not sure if I could get my friends to come along... Yet
>>
>>97284413
Definitely worth getting. Even if just for the expanded POIs. If you're only playing it against other players then you don't really need it. Kontraband really just expands upon the survival/looting mechanics. It does shift the focus away from combat a little, but when you do have an encounter you can very easily get your shit pushed in if you're unlucky. That being said, if you're playing it solo and have a squad with a good balanced set of gear/skills its actually easier than playing coop and relying on your teammates to do the right thing.

You have no point. If you think that the Eldar should look like shit from battletech etc you are clearly fucking retarded and entirely miss the point of what their design is going for. Eldar design clearly aims for elegance, beauty, semi organic and flowing forms as well as generally looking fast and graceful over being some bulky boxes and slabs of armor we see in example on imperial designs.

First explain to me how the link points specifically to neonazi, be my guest. Second even if that's the case why matters that some nobody in ttrpgs is le scary neonazi, unless there's a significant movement systemically acting in seizing the hobby (as in controlling the majority share of production and leading actors in the scene) why would that affect anything about you. Some retard with a retard opinion is making a meme game somewhere? Do you get my point faggot?
Literally every major game and the overwhelming majority of indie production ships sensitivity pamphlet, safety tools and self censor themselves accordingly to amerlard current year sensibilities, how the fuck there's even a "neonazi" problem in this goddamn hobby? Recently I was thinking about alternative combat systems.

I remember someone talking about instead of HP the payer has a Jenga tower and he needs to remove peaces once hit, the skill is to remove peaces without the tower collapsing

So I started thinking.
For example what if the combat somehow involves cups and balls?

Instead of a D20+modifier nonsense why not change it up? Why not give a player 10 balls or legos or whatever and to win an encounter the player needs to land 2 balls in 1 cup?

There can be variants of this like a super hard encounter demands the player lands all 10 balls or what about reducing the size of the cup with the difficulty of combat?

What if we implement a fate system from Talisman for the players? What if legendary bosses have something like that for themselves? And can negate the players victory?

What if different monsters use different "balls" like for example some bone golems will be you throwing legos into cups and zombies are aluminum balls while naga can be gummy bears? That actually makes the monster feel different and not a copy pasted set of numbers. Also the different aerodynamics of these "balls" are part of the fun.

I really want to reply to this post seriously, but OP seems to be actually mentally ill. Or a child.

Bro can you stop typing like a retard? I'll give you a system that is interesting. Riddle of Steel is interesting. You get a pool of dice and must bet the number of dice to roll to attack and the number to roll to defend. Additionally, certain moves require certain number of dice. Favoring a more weighted approach benefits certain maneuvers. Favoring a more balanced approach benefits others. It's also extremely lethal, so there's a lot of risk in betting. There's also a very strong riposte mechanic to balance "all in" spam. It's a good system.

My system is even better, but you're acting too much like a retard for me to post it.
>>
>>97276666
Well? Why would I want to use it?
>>
>>97281852
Interesting.

>We've used a ball toss mechanic with candyland back in the day. You'd draw a card and count the spaces, then have to consecutively land that many balls in cups. You moved only as far as your successful shots, and drank the number you were short. It worked well for our purposes.
How far was the cup? Any more info?

>I can see a human skill based resolution working in some games,
OK.
> but in others it would be incredibly annoying.
How so? More info on this.

I do not want to subject my players with basically broken mechanics once I made up a basically broken version of a activity game in card form and it was basically pure nonsense.

>The more intelligent you are and the more you value your intelligence, the more vulnerable you are to Lovecraft's horrors.

What if you're intelligent and place value on said intelligence, but aren't so arrogant to think that what you know is the definitive "truth"? Like what if your response to finding out that much of what you thought to be true about physics, history or the universe is wrong, is akin to "oh, ok... cool, guess I get to learn a bunch of new stuff now! Cool!" Does that stop you from going mad, or does that just lead to knowledge that is beyond the understanding of mortal minds, which is an insanity driver?

oooh, I must have struck a nerve there
my favorite pastime is finding rabid atheists who consider themselves the pinnacles of reason and logic, and pester them until I find the one thing (actually one hundred, atheists aren't really logical) they have an emotional reaction to and then constantly bring it up until they commit suicide. Seeing people who claim to be coldly logical turn into a screaming, emotional mess gives me a hard cock. Care to make my hard cock soft again?

why are many creators so afraid of making a setting with napoleonic wars era technology?

Despite the Napoleonic fanboys' delusional talk, it's not a popular period among normies and hobbyists-lite. The warfare of that era becomes too complex for your average DnD-tier nerd to understand, the period is not hitting you with the "individual heroes and deeds" vibes like the medieval period for example. The easy answer therefore is, it wouldn't sell because your average fantasy consumer is a fantasy consumer and you don't need a genius to create a story of sword-swinging murder-hobos adventuring.

RIFTS! The science fantasy world of post-apoc cyborgs, wizards, dragons, ninjas, giant mecha, super-nazis, robot ninjas, vampires, underwater kingdoms, remnant human supertech civilizations and everything you can imagine all rolled into one setting where interdimensional RIFTS have pierced Earth's fabric and turned it into a playground for aliens and monsters!

Plus other Palladium Games about superheroes, zombies, classic fantasy, supernaturals investigation and more.

>Palladium Fantasy
>Beyond the Supernatural
>Dead Reign
>Robotech (lol)

Anyone play it yet? I like the "rustic fantasy" setting. The core rules seem interesting, it has more mechanics and gameplay than most other narrative games. I enjoy that it doesn't have moves or whatever to confine you, you can actually play your character and do whatever you want. It's got enough knobs and options in terms of resolution I feel like it's actually a real game despite having that more story focus vs simulation focus. And I like that the DM has all the traditional power of the DM and there's not like "Fate Points" or something else that gives players control to change stuff.
Thinking I might try a short game for my table, just a few lower powered sessions. It also has good tools for a solo stuff which is interesting.

Sharing useful wisdom that has helped me run more satisfying games. Trying to share some less common advice. These are my opinions and techniques that have helped me. I’d love to hear what has worked for other /tg/ DMs.

1. Time pressure- adding time pressure through use of "clocks" including real life clocks is incredibly helpful to add pressure and tension to a scenario. Giving players choices but not enough time to make every choice adds meaning to those choices. Time pressure in combat is a contentious, but powerful tool to discuss with your players. Forcing a decision in seconds makes combat stressful and - when players are on board- fun (in anticipation of the common objection: if the players don’t make a choice in combat, I usually come back to them before round end, I never have them “just stand there”. Remember to assume character competency).

2- The GM-ing engine- It's okay to front load content and prepare a few different rail-roady hooks in the first few sessions. Being a GM is like starting one of those old prop engines with a winch. It takes a while for the pistons (players) to kick into gear. Once they do, after a few sessions, all you need to do is apply gas. Solve the tavern problem by figuring out how characters know each other prior to the first session.

3- Immersion means impact- After a session, reflect on how the player choices affected the world (for good or ill), try to let the ripple of that effect emerge in the next session. Players that feel like they change the world around them invest in it.

>Don't start in the briefing, start in the plane about to halo-drop into the hot zone. If possible, start in media res. This is a perfectly sensible way to start a campaign, and isn't "railroading."
If you have an actual game like this, the GM should make a ready loadout for the players. In a dungeon game part of the fun is how prepared the team is but in a milsim game nobody wants to hear "what do you mean nobody brought detcord and C4?"
>>
>>97278784
>Introduce factions
>have factions be represented by NPCs that the players actually interact with
This will write a good 40% of sessions for you.
Just introduce a bunch of factions and let the NPCs that represent them have history and conflict with one another.

No, completely wrong, you are an idiot and part of the problem. There is a single thing, called railroading, that is always a negative, and constantly either diluting the phrase, and trying to trick yourself into thinking there are somehow good railroads is an idiots past time.

Trench Raiding With The Lads Edition

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What Trench Crusade is not
TC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

>How do I get started?

For us kitbashers and crazy printers, how much do you try to abide by WSYWIG?
I make an honest attempt, because the base models I use a relatively cheap, so I can afford to use bits to glam them up and make what I want for different scenarios.
>>
>>97284800
Its hard to do it with campaign games as youll likely be upgrading or swapping equipment on units as the campaign progresses, so I just stick to something that can be approximated. Like ill make a model with a 1 handed sword, but in the profile I can just say its a 2 handed sword when I pay to swap the weapon out,, or a bolt action rifle is a semi auto rifle if I swap it out.

Its why its good to have a theme or intended upgrade path for units so you have something to model around. Remember, you really need about 20 models in reality for this, youll be adding and upgrading units over time.
