>>97221822I know they didn't tell you this, but. If you root around for a bit in the past threads and know the PDF sharethread customs, there's a trove of all the rules for KDM. You can find readily-available recasts as well as 3DP proxies/scans elsewhere for a lot cheaper than plastic. That said there's not much else that does the highly-tactical PvE boss fights and freaky monsters thing you seem to be looking for. Sadly. You could try to scrounge up the official Dark Souls board game. Or hit up /3DPG/ for information on STLs inspired by stuff like Blasphemous and Souls. Be aware that they're pretty fucking cancerous.
>>97222004thanks for the info ladyes while I was waiting I was already searching for printnplay kits for KDM (one would think that there should be some), but seems like I'm going to make it from scratchGlad to have a direction, I'll fish for that rulebook aroundAnd for what I can understand, looks like the player minis are basically just stand-ins anyway, I'll probably go for some Bestiarum hero minis

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency. If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. >>97219738Yeah, if you're doing it free and under the radar, but who's gonna spend a year+ reworking the PHB and DMG and then not be able to publish it and recoup any of the time and money lost? I mean somebody might, but that'd be pretty fuckin' saintly
Yeah yeah, I know it's 2e but one of players found this for free.
>>97220447Cool blogpost bro
>>97220459Thanks :DD
>>97219339Part of the AD&D appeal is precisely the monk-like dedication to parse rules from obscure musings from half-forgotten paragraphs in the DMG. OSRIC 3 was always going to be a betrayal of sorts, but I believe it's a needed one in a moment where the original PHB and DMG are available as PoD and retroclones such as OSE or Dragonslayer are slowly but surely evolving into AD&D-lite.
In my games, high level wizards turn to stone.
>>97216650I am not much of an anime or manga fan, but I did like how in the Soul Eater setting witches all have animal motives, or can turn into their respective animals — but there’s this one “witch” (…Blair) who is really just… a magical cat who can turn into a human. Is Shadowrun 6e decent? I heard the release corebook was trash, but since then they've released two updated editions that fix alot of the problems.I want something Cyberpunk adjacent to run for my group. Getting tired of doing another Red campaign and figure Shadowrun is just Cyberpunk with higher power scaling and more build variety. Basically the things I try to homebrew into Red anyway.
>>97221936Unless they fundamentally altered the core systems my understanding was that 6e was irredeemable garbage that played like FATE; in which case you could have just played fate and cut out the middle-man.
>>97221960Okay cool. I'll avoid and look for something else or wait for that Anarchy 2.0 to come out. Preview looked decent. Also off topic, but why do designers have a hard on for rules lite "narrative" style games these days? Why is there such a big push to reinvent the wheel instead of just reiterating and improving on what previously worked.
>>97221936Gobbet, my beloved.
>>97221975There's this idea that there's a barrier to popularity in complexity; and that the simpler a game is the more money it's going to make. Not only is this completely wrong, they're often stupidly tearing out most of the interesting systems and mechanics and leaving behind dull ones because they weren't complicated.RED thankfully didn't make this mistake, not entirely. It's simpler, but there's plenty going on to keep people interested without also being in modifier hell (though I feel a lot of GMs I've played with are terrified of applying circumstantial modifiers, so it's whatever). There are other flaws in the system, but the bones are good and you can build it up where it needs bulk.

How do we fix Steampunk?
>>97219174If referencing and drawing inspiration counts as ripping things off, then yes, an AI can only rip things off, but by that logic, the same should be said of human beings. Art is built atop art.
>>97221835Tradition is by definition a living thing. It is cultural continuation, the passing down of cultural elements from one generation to the next. If such continuation doesn't exists anymore then we are not talking about tradition. We are talking about history.

>>97221874>steampunk is just an aestheticSteam punk deals with themes of rapid industrialization, colonialism, Victorian class structures, the impact of anachronistic advanced technologies, such as the "difference engine" would have on the world at large. >>97221926That's only part of the issue, token characters always feel forced and hamfisted because inherently are unless the whole thing is made with levity in mind or they're part of a joke. In the specific case d&d adventures aren't generic fantasyland escapades but are specifically and for the vast majority about outdoormanship, underworld delving and monster fighting, putting a guy in a conventional wheelchair there only evokes annoying, dragging scenarios, making the guy sit on an unconventional wheelchair (that offsets those inconveniences) makes the whole exercise moot. On the other hand having the cripple strapped to, for example, a dire wolf mount makes the whole experience potentially interesting balancing out the potential grievances.

Do the Skitarii have any martial arts? What if they developed some?
You know, I always find it odd that while Nurgle and Khorne have proper chaos space marines that represent them in the Khorne berserkers and plague marines, the same cannot be said about Slaanesh and Tzeentch. Like, shouldn’t Tzeentch marines should be something like a sorcerer unit, or a heavy mutant marine unit? And I don’t know what Slaanesh should have got to be honest
>>97221709I think so. Player 3 is foaming at the mouth for the chance to kill daemons and already delivered two IC rousing speeches. We got a "daemons could be here. With the warp, you can go anywhere you want" joke and we pretended we never started doing DW and were instead playing our other campaign.>>97221751They're all new players but one, a big fight against a greater daemon would've been too tough for their level, especially since no one would've had fun cause only the librarian is equipped to battle them effectively, and the main enemy are Nids.>did that test completely wrongThat's what I was going for, to be fair. Completely flip the expectations of how a normal test should go, hence offering players to pick a -20 penalty. The highest WP player failed his 90% chance to succeed, while the lower one passed his 18% twice, so the RNG was also tzeenchian. The reward for the room was a fate point, so they got that back as well, no "gotcha! you wasted resources on an illusion".
>>97221929Slaanesh does have his Noise Marines though, who are supposed to represent love for extreme stimuliTzeench has plenty of sorcerers serving him, which aren't relly a "unit" per se, but it would be hard to make one of them seeing how individualistic they tend to be. And rubric marines are associated with him, who are a resurt of sorcery
>>97221976I know that, but they don’t represent them well like how Khorne berserkers and plague marines represent Nurgle and Khorne. Like, which part of rubric marines scream Tzeentch? These automatons could well be Nurgle units considering how tough they are

Games where Intelligence is the best stat? Hard mode: not because of magic.
>>97217507Starfinder 1e because hacking is broken and it's an INT skill. Basically everything in the game can be either reproduced or circumvented via hacking. You can hack doors, alarms, vehicles. You can hack people's phones, even their weapons and armor. It's the best combat skill, the best social skill, and the best utility skill. And it all hinges on a single kind of skill check: Computers, which is INT-based. You can even get wireless hacking at a very low level, allowing you to basically hack anything in Bluetooth range, removing the need to actually touch what you're hacking or look suspicious while doing it. The developers released a supplement later on that tried to nerf hacking by splitting it up into three separate skills, forcing hackers to at least choose one or two things to be absolutely broken at, rather than bending the game over and fucking it constantly. However, the devs didn't have the balls to just straight-up patch it, so they released the change as a set of "optional rules," which--when a playgroup is even aware of them--are generally ignored.
>>97218454Those people aren’t actually in charge. The real puppeteers are unseen. Even Epstein was just a pawn. Level up lil bro
You get to improve skills by +10% for each point of Intelligence in BRP at the end of character creation. Also the Idea rolls can be versatile and really useful, depending on how much the GM lets PCs get away with.
