realistically this, I wouldn't be to mad about it even if I already own most of it. you could build one of the changecasters as a fate skimmer instead and buying two boxes for filling out your army wouldn't be terrible.

Oh no most of the new spearhead is usuable yeah, I meant 'niche' in the sense that most people looking to start a khorne army probably don't want to go that hard in a specific subtype of flesh hounds. It's like if the only gitz spearhead for sale was the gitmob one. The old khorne spearhead feels a lot more representative of the army.

So like, one box of pink horrors, one box of blue+brimstone, two boxes of the weird fateskimmer/changecaster box? Feels like it needs a little bit more, throw in the ogroid or chaos spawn or something.

RIFTS! The science fantasy world of post-apoc cyborgs, wizards, dragons, ninjas, giant mecha, super-nazis, robot ninjas, vampires, underwater kingdoms, remnant human supertech civilizations and everything you can imagine all rolled into one setting where interdimensional RIFTS have pierced Earth's fabric and turned it into a playground for aliens and monsters!

Plus other Palladium Games about superheroes, zombies, classic fantasy, supernaturals investigation and more.

Talk about:

>Palladium Fantasy
>Beyond the Supernatural
>Dead Reign
>Robotech (lol)

maps and mapmaking. more specifically, there's something that's been bothering me for a while now. There are endless skirmish-scale settlement-scale and topographic-scale square grid mapmaking tools online, and that's great.
There's plenty of topography-scale hexgrid mapmakers too, presumably because of D&D's ancient use of hexgrids for overland travel. and that's great too.
There arent many hexmakers ive found for settlement scale maps, but i've had some luck torturing them out of the battletech mapmaker in the megamek software, or other videogames that generously offer to print the output
but
for the life of me i cannot find a decent skirmish-scale hexgrid mapmaker. i must have tried a dozen programs by now, but the ones that offer hexgrids are either borderline unuseable or just put a hexagonal overlay over a square grid. it's ridiculous that after decades of computer tools for TTRPGS the best i've found is GIMP where i have to draw the damn things by hand. Not to mention the endless enshitification of google makes it harder and harder to find niche programs to match what i need.

what are you anons using to create your maps?
do you know of any decent skirmish-scale hexmappers (that are free, or at least worth the price)?
what do you think of maps in general, do you even use them?

i'll share any spare maps i have within the size limit to get the ball rolling

These schools of thought about dungeon design have never sat right with me.

For jayquasing/xandering, there's no structure or intent behind them. its just a list of design elements you could theoretically include to stop your dungeon being a straight line. It's useful to have an exhaustive list, but not really worth having a name for because its basically just the idea of "my dungeon shouldnt be a straight line" and from there most if not all the techniques are self-evident

The five room dungeon is "better" in that it's at least a narrative framework to inform dungeon design, but it's only perscriptive of a single design philosophy not descriptive of the full scope of potential design approaches. It's also completely useless for when you need to actually put a pen to paper.
>room 1 is the entrance, and the challenge is related to getting inside
gee thanks, i really needed help figuring that out. besides, only amateurs put traps in the first room.

then there are things like melan diagrams that lack objectivity, cannot account for backtracking, conditional paths or obstacles, and are totally uninformative to actual design.

and as a final dig, none of these touch on dynamism in dungeons. dungeon-as-an-ecosystem has been popular lately, but even something as basic as a roaming monster is ignored. these ideas are 20 years old by now and game design has advanced a lot, its time we started setting these aside and researching a unified theory of dungeon-space
>>
>>97251676
ok. i really just wanted to talk about level design in concrete way and we have a shared vocabulary for it that you are obviously familar with that we can use. I just want to talk about why good maps are good maps. Like the dungeon i made and posted here >>97247344 has wandering monsters and while not pictured stairs ladders a subfloor 3 entrances and i'm still probably going to redesign it to make the statue room bigger as there is scaffolding in there that a boss will use to hide as she throws menacingly massive mechanical monstrosities to mega murder my merry mercenaries. Dynamism and ecosytems are importat to dungeon design, not something seperate. In your opinion what are some good exmaples of dynamism in dungeons I'd love getting into it? Dungeon as an ecosystem is also awesome Dungeon Meshi did a great example of that in my opinion.

quick explanation from Spencer anon
i figured using the Assprilla character to explain why Spencer could use the tags since Analstasia said only high ranking slaanesh hosts could use it
i used the joke about the TSA being an inverse of the regular TSA where slaanesh forces get their requests inspected to make sure its heinous shit or worth gifting not that Assprilla is high ranking again
didnt mean to cause confusion just meant to be a quick character reference since last time she was mentioned she was forced to work under Diane who was also a human turned daemonette so i thought it fit that she approve something to disrupt someone in a similar situation
sorry for confusion to rest of thread

>Be Randy Rudolph, Beastman Champion of the Schlick LXIXth
>Also be a Blitzer for the Slaanesh Blood Bowl team
>Like many beastmen in the Schlick, I resemble a reindeer more than a goat
>Unlike most beastmen in the Schlick, I have two sets of genitals rather than one, since a certain Eldar bitch who is now a cheerleader standing ten feet away from me, sliced by original set off last year, and two more grew in their place
>Technically this is a blessing of Slaanesh, but they grew back kind of diagonal to each other, and it is hard to use both at once unless one of the parties involved is twisted sideways at an odd angle
>Also, who wouldn’t be mad at someone who sliced off your junk?
>My sense of smell is good enough to know that all seven Eldar who were involved in the incident in question are here somewhere, three of the women are cheerleaders, including the main offender, so I can’t touch them during the games, but I suspect all three males will be players, and what better way to get vengeance than to maul one or more of slicy-bitch’s boy toys?
>But first we must beat the Khornate team, who are surprisingly good for a bunch of Orkish slaves
>But although the Khornates are beefy lads, bigger than base line humans, and to be honest, more skilled than we are, they don’t have the sheer speed of a daemonette runner, or the speed-strength combo of a beastman blitzer like myself. And then there are the Space Marines, who are extremely good at everything, but the coach isn’t using too many of them yet to create the illusion of fairness

>Be Shisrak the Chill Bloodletter
>I say a few solemn words in Old Khonish about lost brotherhood, blood to fire, bone to ash, and then dispose of the doll version of myself down the volcanic vent.
>That should keep the daemonettes guessing. They will spend so much time picking apart why I said those things, they will completely forget why they found the doll version of me funny to begin with. Slaaneshi are almost as bad as Tzeentchians when it comes to unnecessary scheming, and both seem to assume everything things the same way they do. Speculating about the Slaaneshi Necron I fought should also distract them, unless it is something they already know about.
>I head back to guest room of Khorne’s Palace and get in only a few more minutes of conversation before I am informed that Cummissar Analstasia has somehow become trapped in Khorne’s Realm.
>No idea how that happened, and I don’t really care, but in the spirit of maintaining the only day per year of peace between Khornates and Slaaneshi, I use my extra special Khornemas magic to teleport to Analstasia’s location, teleport her back to the arena on Nordica II, and then teleport myself back to the guest room in Khorne’s Palace, where I convince the daemonettes to watch the Khorne versus Slaanesh Blood Bowl game that has just started.

>Be Cummissar Analstasia Van Gina of the Schlick LXIXth, formerly Vanessa
>Shisrak gets me out of Khorne’s Realm and brings me back to the arena, where I find my subordinate daemonettes squabbling over who should temporarily have my job
>I find out that the second Blood Bowl game has started, Slaaneshi versus Khornates, and I head back up to my box seat to watch, and support my mentor Dixie
>I definitely haven’t forgotten about Priscilla though
>My subordinates claim to know where she is hiding, so I order them to find her and bring her to my box seat
>Now that I know she is potentially a spy for an unknown organization, I plan on tying her to a chair, and then dosing her with extra extra doses of my emotion heightening truth syrum, as well as plenty of good old fashion aphrodisiacs
>Hopefully she spends the game alternating between telling me all her darkest secrets and telling me what she wishes I would do to her in the carnal sense, but it may take some trial and error to get the doses right to produce a mix of both results, and also counterbalance the effects of Old Krampus’s mind control magic
>I use my own magic to restore my appearance to that of Vanessa’s old body, but with a bit more...shape...than before
>My clothes are completely gone by this point, and I can’t be bothered to do anything about it right now, maybe I will check some of my presents at the half-time show, the ones that weren’t crushed by the Space Marine and/or soaked in the blood of my fallen servants during his brief rampage through my box seat that is
>The only thing that survived the trip to Khorne’s Realm is the mysterious Necron artifact, but it soaked up so much Khornate energy it just looks like a half-melted blob of bronze and gore. No idea if it even has any value at all at this point, but I will return it to its proper owner once I have had the time to think of some excuses for its condition

Correct.
>>
>>97252585
If you have a question it should be related to some experience you've had or expect to encounter. I've started threads for general traveller discussion by opening them with summaries of what went down in my last session and asking for advice on potential future directions. I've started threads about magic systems with examples of what I have, what I thought would make it mechanically interesting for the players, and an invitation for feedback. I've never started a one sentence question thread where reverse image searching the OP picture leads to the same faggoty reddit account as all the other turds clogging this toilet of a board.
>>
>>97252585
This is a hobbyist board, people want to engage in their creative hobbies and discuss their experiences with other people who engage in the same creative hobby.
Those inane questions come from a very identifiable place, of someone who didn't engage in the hobby, otherwise instead of "are your elves blonde?" the OP would talk about which elves he thinks are cooler and why they work like that on his setting, and how does that relate to everything and affects his games.

The original concern that many people had during the lull between Amaris and the first succ was that it was going to be a return to the age of war but now with even more wmds and a few more centuries worth of grudges. Blake believed that the capacity for interstellar civilization was going to be destroyed, which is why they established comstar as a religious organization. When your world is nuked and the most advanced technology you can access is a DC current fed directly from a broken generator, your corporate affiliation is not going to matter, but your religion will. Uniting all of comstar under one religious purpose gives them the best chance to pull together enough resources to still be interstellar when no one else is. Then Toyama and the later leaders decided that Blake helps those who help themselves, which ultimately led to the Jihad.

See Blake wasn't wrong with the Religious preservation of Tech, the problem was he left the plan to the business cutthroat that was Toyama and Michelle Dupreas, "Intelligence" Agent and first Precentor of ROM.
Naturally this would lead to Toyama's cultish swing that would result in the Organizational Edict 3056 and Raymond Karpov attempts to have ComStar control ALL technology while pushing the Great Houses to destroy each other.
This forced tipping of the scales ironically is what ultimately led to ComStar's undoing, as staying actually neutral as Blake had established would have allowed them to grow their influence into the cracks formed by the warring Great Houses.

Oh, so not real warriors and therefore not legitimate Clanners. Ok, that makes more sense. Thanks.

Silver is actually the best electrical conductor. For very high currents it might make sense to keep waste heat down.

We know that germanium at least is scarce enough that it's a bottleneck in Jump core construction.

Lotr one
Everyone dies if the ring gets to mt doom so at least the game is not a drawn out mess
Also, I suppose that means that fluffwise you are playing as heartless fantasy monsters like urukhai and goblins divying up the conquered lands of midde earth instead of regular heartless monsters like investment bankers and the Wallenberg family

I would rather slam my dick in the car door than play Monopoly.

Monopoly City at least gives the formula little twist with option to build polluting or otherwise detrimental buildings that can be used to reduce the value of other player's properties.

I don't see why not, they're usable untrained and Wieldskill allows for even trained skill checks.

In May 2006, Dragon Magazine #343's Creature Catalog V introduced the Arcane Dragons to the world, whose gimmick was that they were the dedicated sorcerers family of the draconic race; physically feeble by comparison, but much more magical abilities. In particular, each breed of arcane dragon was associated with 2 of the 8 schools of magic - Abjuration, Conjuration, Divination, Enchantment, Evocation, Illusion, Necromancy and Transmutation - to the point that they gained every single Sorcerer spell of those two schools as part of their "spells known" pool.

Now, I actually have questions about how many spells an arcane dragon actually gets, but at the moment, I have two different queries. That Creature Catalog only gave us 2 Arcane Dragon species; the Hex Dragons (Enchantment/Necromancy) and the Tome Dragons (Conjuration/Divination). Thus...

1) How many possible 2-school combinations of magic are left when you take Enchantment/Necromancy and Conjuration/Divination out of the picture?

2) What are some interesting possible names for Arcane Dragons tied to specific combinations of magic? For example, does "Blight Dragon" make sense for a species specifically tied to Evocation and Necromancy, the most destruction-focused schools? What would you call a dragon tied to Divination and Necromancy? Or to Abjuration and Evocation?

1 is basic combinatorics. There's 8 options for the first school, and 7 options for the second. That gives 56 total pairs, but it's actually 28 unique pairs as Abjuration/Divination is the same as Divination/Abjuration. That gives 26 remaining after Enchantment/Necromancy and Conjuration/Divination are spoken for.

2 you're gonna have to just sit down with an excel spreadsheet and start coming up with words.

NTA, I like Blight Dragon, works nicely.

Here are some I made on the fly (pun not intended):
Equinox (Evocation/Abjuration)
Stygian (Divination/Necromancy)
Eclipse (Necromancy/Abjuration)
Empyrean (Evocation/Conjuration)
Phantasm (Illusion/Abjuration)
Scourge (Transmutation/Necromancy, and yes this is a Warcraft reference)
