My Pathfinder 2e Character. A Mountain Stance Monk from Minkai
My character after the party resurrected him with the help of the Bronze Dragons
This is my Goblin Monk from Pathfinder 2E (was caught trying to burn a library in monastery and had two choices: to voluntarily sign for the most painful crash course of unarmed fighting or equally voluntarily put himself into a bag with a very heavy stone inside and throw himself into a very deep river.)>>97243990The last time I checked Mountain Stance was completely broken (it *required* you to maintain a constant contact with ground meaning you cannot jump, run, climb or even fall into a water. Oh, and BTW during the surprise round you have AC of a commoner.) Was it fixed?
>>97242990>>97243208>>97243484They're great wyrm dragons from a long running Pathfinder campaign. I used Wrathion as reference ages ago so now that's what that character looks like to my players.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency. If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. >>97227775I like portraits, but not pregenerated ones. A quick sketch of the character is always fun.
>>97218223Kindly do not lie about on topic games being off topic.
>>97222508Fun. Lots of content. I reccomend skipping or removing most things in the hexes. Dot some dungeons around and really play into the evilness of the various factions particularly the Goatlords. Reading, at least once, the Wormskins is a must to run it properly. You don't feel the need to do that all at once. But 10 or so pages as part of normal session prep is fine.Ban elf race, and race(kindred) as class. Makes no sense for a player to have access to it (if playing in the Dolmenwood setting). Final big problem I'd warn of is that Knight, and enchanter are trap classes unless the player is willing to swap out mechanical effectiveness for flavour. Not unusable but really you're better off picking something else. Still have those classes show up as henchmen. It's good for the verisimilitude.
>>97243844>trap classesGYG WotCfag
>>97244003People other than Wizards can do poor game design. Knight is "what if fighter but worse in 9/10 situations" and is apparently a strict improvement on the Knight from the Gnomes Caracess Crawler.Enchanter could be fun around mid levels but the one player I've had that used it greatly disliked it. And he was my best player who made use of henchmen before any of the other newbies and was making liberal use of flaming oil every combat. Lost him from the campaign for a number of in and out of world factors of which a shitty class was one.

>>97243240> that would require GW to make 18 unique upgrade sprues, plus one for blackshieldsthey already do that for all the Necromunda factions. I can't believe it sells better than the HH
>>97242778GW already said they plan to do all the legion specific shit in plastic, but that they want to get all or most of the legion agnostic stuff done in plastic first.
>>97242785Only got myself some paints and other hobby supplies that had ran out, nothing special. Haven't really done anything for Christmas for years now.
>>97242778I was teally happy when they puvliahee the armouries of SoH and BA, hoped that all legions will get them, but got rect pretty hard. New Nostraman chainglaives, chainblades,.power claw, maybe some nice little trophies of judgement...
>>97243251Oh a bunch of stuff. Recon squads, seekers, vehicles, MkIV, MkV, and so on. It’s a long list of legion agnostic stuff, so we’re not likely going to see anything legion specific for years in plastic barring exceptions like Zephon and Rann. That said, I can see the possibility that they might be able to speed up the time table by combining certain models under one set, e.g. Recon/Seekers/Vigilator and the like.
What would be cool is if at some point Elan is in peril and Nale is the one who saves him, and he can go "I'm not the evil twin anymore."
>>97242256>Undead/MechaBelkarYou mean Belkarette. Belkarina. Belkaren, Bane of Retail Employees.
>>97240799Surely Tarquin had a plan for after he died, right? You can't be giga genre savvy for your next 50 years, and then just ignore your eventual long fate
>>97243847oh sure, he probably has a plan ready to goin fact I'm willing to bet that plan involves him turning into a devil, with his mind intact banking on him being valuable enough to the lower planes for such a thing to happenwhich is of course why Nale's transformation unwittingly destroyed Tarquin's whole plan because Nale already did the "dead villain is a devil" thing and the narrative won't allow a repeat, something which Tarquin might never figure out because Elan himself is genry savvy enough to never ever mention it
>>97244116I could see Tarquin returning as a devil, actually playing everything straight and doing the proper dramatic reveal that Nale threw away, and then getting pissed off and possibly even attack Nale when he realizes that he's ruined his whole narrative.
What are the funniest wargame mechanics you've ever encountered?
>>97239200Less than unintended, the white scars player had several options at the time. Khan would have let him outflank on a side edge, ruining the conga line plan. Any tank could have tank shocked the kroot when they entered, forcing them to move and making the unit contract to maintain coherency and opening a way for the rest of the force. A rhino could have saved the game.He did neither of these things. The moral is Dawn if War deployment and null deployment are bad.

I think I'll play as a bard in the next campaign (either that or I'll swap my barbarian for one). In each game, I give my characters a very poetic and ornate voice, which I think would fit a bard perfectly. It could be quite fun.
If they want "civilized" orcs, why not just bought Scro back?
do you use character portraits in your game?how do you get them? do you use any websites\generators? do you use AI? how do you prompt it?
>>97242878Anon, I pointed out that ai art looking boring and unmemorable is imo far worse than any of it looking ugly, since I get that ugly is in the eye of the beholder anyways.
>>97230620>do you use character portraits in your game?I find visual aids help my players and myself visualize things better. Also we use Roll20 so I like to represent people with tokens when I can.>how do you get them? do you use any websites\generators?I get like 90% of my character art from here, though the character art threads have been poor quality - if high quantity - this year.>do you use AI? how do you prompt it?I try to avoid using AI images if possible, partially on principle and partly because they mostly look like shit.
>>97242058Muh climate change is absolutely right though, AI's wasting immense amounts of natural resources to achieve exactly fuck all. That said I still slop from time to time, most things I either crudely draw myself or just describe but there are e.g. certain playable humanoid types I make slop of to demonstrate
>>97230620>do you use character portraits in your game?Only for important NPCs if I'm GM.>howI draw them>aiI don't mind others using it, but we're table where 3/5 are artists. Everyone's characters get drawn.
>>97242898So is "boring" and "unmemorable", though...

>>97234192>C&C is everything 5 x and 3.x shouldve been. The second half of that sentence is funny in that C&C was 3.0 lite with not a lot of 3.5 influence. D&D 3.x can't have been more C&C like because rule bloat was a TSR thing since the days of AD&D 1e through 2e. It survived due to continuity of development by people working at the bloatiest stage of 2e who already felt they were debloating D&D. If TSR had kept going 4e might never have happened like it did, due to the vidya aspect being inspired by corporate, but there's practically no chance there would have been a leaner rule set like C&C did to 3.x.
