How has a wife/girlfriend joining the group affected your games?
>>97229283i'm not mad at all, just being silly it could be, who knows?
My ex joined my group, played for a while, she had fun, but she did later tell me after we broke up that my friends would stare at her tits and during the game she tried to force me to kick a sperg out of the group when we played at the spergs house and it was our only option for a variety of reasons. Then told me she'd never liked any of my group and she didnt enjoy playing. Even though she clearly did but whatever. Ironically she had an animal companion I could never find a figurine for until after we broke up they suddenly made several of them for D&D and if the right size category too. I find that ironic.
>>97229306Nah you seem perturbed. Why?
>>97229487i promise im not mad im actually in a really good mood cause its nearly christmaswhat are you getting at that though? if there's something you want to say you can say it
Had good nights where the group brought their women for boardgame night. Even played some heavier games and not just your run of the mill party games. But TTRPGs are pretty much boys only and no girl has shown interest which isn't a problem for me.
How do we fix Steampunk?
>>97196423You really just need to tone down the fashion a little. That's what usually tips it over the edge into being lame.
>>97198341Anything by Jules Verne. Of course, the issue there is that he lived when Steam tech was the newest thing, so at the time his works were just speculative fiction. It's only after steam faded that his works became the basis for a new psudogenre
>>97198980>A good method is to replace coal with some other sort of unobtainium mechanism that can more efficiently power steam engines. Most modern power plants (Nuclear, Coal, Natural Gas, etc.) are in actuality giant steam engines turning electric motors in order to generate electricity. The steam age has not really ended it was just hidden from sight. If you want steam punk to actually work you need to come up with a reason that pumping a high pressure aerosol of liquid vapor through pipes is a better energy transfer method than transmitting electricity through metal wires.
>>97198341You know what, I don't how steampunk fashion/subculture started either. It seems to me it must have started in the US but that's as far as I can go; there must be a reason beyond some music bands adopting the steam era adventurer aesthetics back in the 2000s, but I just don't know what it was>>97230255In Dragonmech it all boils down into "steam powered shit was invented by dwarves and they're so good at it everything just works out", the book just tells you not to overthink it and just enjoy the rideit also implies that the same dwarves that invented steam powered mechs also know about electricity generation and nuclear powered engines, but won't tell anybody about it because it's just too dangerous to let people like humans or goblins get their hands on that kind of knowledge it's also implied that there was an ancient dwarven empire that nuked themselves into the stone age and that's the main reason they keep that kind of tech under wrapsi'm personally fine with that; i just want to run a high fantasy adventure with mechs and sheit
>>97213529That not playing it straight. That is being retarded and not understanding punk is sticking to the man. Making it into /pol/ retardation is not fixing anything

Would love to share some YTers I like to use for inspiration. Looking for anyone you find helpful. Preferably smaller creators and not restricted to 5e. I’ll submit three that I really enjoy while I’m doing prepFirst I’ll submit is Desk and Dorks. The channel is made by a medieval historian and combines his knowledge of subjects to enhance games. I particularly like his take on Bronze Age fantasy and building better town guards

>>97226391No it's about giving Rockerboy tangible bonuses that help in the minute to minute gameplay. Not loose "favours" that are open to interpretation and put the onus on the GM/player to actually come up with something interesting. It's lazy game design.I dunno, if the point of the Rockerboy is they have access to a fanbase that supplies them with favours, then why not make them similar to the Exec?
>>97223227What is the best SR edition?
>>97229011Depends entirely on the person. I like 2e because shadowrun, to me, will always be the early 90s roc paperbacks. I've also heard good things about 4th/5th. It seems like the most recommended is 20th anniversary.Anarchy 2e looks promising, as well, if you're down for a more narrative game.
>>97228904Ah, yes, how dare they make the referee have to come up with interesting things.
>>97227060Seems like it got pushed to the new year, considering they're going on break now.

>>97229857Usually no, but it's WoD so there's always bullshit exceptions and donut steels. If you want to run it in a story, just handwave some way to fix their Avatar. I think the marauder book even has an example of an archmage doing it.

>>97230290>>97229978>>97230105>>97230324To clarify, I had meant more so along the lines of a personality as well, something along the lines of the final villain of Arcanum the CRPG,, Kerghan. Not so much make them not Nephandi anymore, but convince them to either accept death, kill themselves, or work towards a better world temporarily. I do appreciate the opinions and answers though. If I had to take a guess it would be extraordinarily hard right? On account on willingly letting the bad kind of demons possess them I would think.
In your game, do you treat bows as strength- or dexterity-based weapons?

>>97228957>get a bigger bowAnglo hands have typed this shit
>>97230001"Puckee" doesn't exist. Now talk about the thread topic, faggot.
>>97223103Perception and Agility with a Strength requirement to use.
>>97227798This game has unironically best rules for bows and crossbows>You either pass the minimum requirements of specific bow type, or you can't use it, period>Bows use both general body agility and raw strength, in different ways, depending on bow type>The stat governing your attacks is Perception, because it's about aiming your shot, given you either can or can't draw the bow in the first place and don't need rolls for that>Taking extra time to aim requires to pass Strength check>By themselves, crossbows have no stat requirements, and if you stick to regular ones, they are strictly superior to bows due to that>Crossbows up to certain weight can be reset manually, but you need to pass Strength or Agility check (whichever lower)>You can only do this as many times as your Constitution (1-5)>Bows and crossbows deal damage from two sources: raw projectile and aiming>This way you can use a hunting bow to kill a human if you know where to hit, or you simply draw a longbow/crossbow and use the raw dice pool of those to get shit done>With heavy enough crossbow and good aim, you can take down anything you wish>Due to the way how defence against projectiles is counter, "lucky peasant with a crossbow" is very much a thing, unless you have a shieldThis game has many various issues (like the lack of grading - everything is either ass or superhuman, no middle ground), but bow and corssbow rules are perfection

>>97229681/tg/ is pretty bad for those. Though I'm running a session in a discord game where the player characters got sent to a post-apocalypse world with both varieties of mutant and are working to gain their trust. And it's kind of funny because most of players are playing what most of /tg/ would classify as "freakshit" characters, but they're given marginally more trust than the humans (who interact with them by covering their faces, needing to do so due to the the shitty air anyways) due to how the mutants consider them to be more "natural looking" than the humans.

>>97218224>Martial Path anons, what do you hope to see happen in the MP?Some early looming threats from the Ghost Domain, some bigger clashes against the cult, and some fun slice of life content. Honestly nothing too specific for the MP as a whole. If we can get one of those big incidents that pulls in all or most of the cast, that'd be pretty nice. For Shahua in particular, some tomb exploring, building up some friendships, some more focus on the Ghost Domain threats than the cult itself, and maybe if things drag on doing something about her illness beyond simply tanking it.>>97226244>Martial Pathers, how does your build fare in outdoors settings?Perfectly fine. Shahua is used to walking around the wilderness for tombs to repair, maintain, or purge, so she's got experience. Also helps that her professions give her lots of options. Pills can substitute food and water for lengthy periods of time, alchemy can also make stuff like bug and beast repellents, and even making a small one-floor house through talisman formations isn't out of the question if she needs to sleep outside. Even getting lost is fairly unlikely since formations are usually founded on feng shui, and if you can't tell which way is north you'd be pretty bad at that job...Her supernatural elements make her pretty well equipped to bypass all of the issues involved, basically.
>They were never an actual threat to the world because the literal God of the world and his angels would never let them win. Do you cuck your dark lord on purpose or give them an actual fighting chance in your game?
